*Melliandra chuckles deeply* Yes that may well be for the best. But perhaps you'll find it in your heart to let him stay on - for amusement's sake if nothing else.

:::Kara's chuckle eventually fades into a sigh:::
They do trust him though... perhaps more than they trust me. They can never know the seriousness of my betrayal to Kal. If anything was going to break their faith, it would be to see the first siblings like this.

Is their faith so fragile? Perhaps it would be better off broken, then.

Perhaps their faith is the wrong way to describe it... their spirit, perhaps. Olsen says that ever since they lost... :::she paused realizing who she was speaking to:::
ever since you left us, their hearts seemed broken. Kal and I were their beloved little pieces of her... reminding them that there was still some of her love there with them. They need us...

*Melliandra shakes her head* They only think they do. And you do them no favors by encouraging such blind belief. There is little more dangerous in the world.
If your people are so dependent upon two children, then your people are doomed.

I didn't say the needed us to survive, or even to function as a society... :::Kara could see now how Mel might have gotten under Kal's skin:::
I said they need us to remind them that they were loved.
If they had let Kal and I call the shots when we were 5 years old, all of Terra would be a glucosi-cake factory.

*Mell merely smiles* Darling, when it comes to human beings, that particular need can lead to more trouble than the rest combined.

:::Kara quickly leaned back to watch as Melliandra faded. She wasn't sure what irked her about it... but she would have thought her mother was different. Still... this wasn't her mother yet.:::
:::She balanced herself on one knee and stood the rest of the way up after Melliandra faded away. Her hand moved back over her face drying it as best she could. Kara couldn't help but feel better after telling her mother what had happened... and that Olsen was right. Her mother really did seem to understand::::
:::Before Kara could decide what to do next, she too was fading away, and she thought as she closed her eyes to the Brink that it wouldn't be so bad now...:::

:::Cora emerges from the guest hall entrance. She's got a book under one arm, and is using her other hand to rub at the corner of her eyes. It's likely that she's just woken up:::
:::She sets down her book on the bar, and walks behind it, where she gets herself a glass of water:::

The air seems to shimmer as a dark-haired, wild-eyed woman appears with a yell that quickly becomes strangled as she staggers forward, the weight of the sword in her hand continuing her momentum. Stopping suddenly, the woman's jaw drops and she spins around, taking in her surroundings with sudden confusion. Movement catches her eye, and she looks at the strangley dressed female standing near by.
"Mary mother of God...wha...where am I?!"
Swallowing hard, the frightened warrior raises her sword defensively in palms that have gone damp. With a fierce sort of grunt, she gestures to the rooms other occupant.
"Who are you?"

:::Cora looked up quickly to see where the yelling had come from moments ago to see a stranger. A new member. She wanted to smile at the woman, but she was holding her sword raised:::
:::Cora stood still, and took just a moment to gauge when the newcomer was from... believing in god, calling Mary the mother of god, using a sword for a weapon...:::
You are safe. My name is Cora. I live here.
:::She spoke calmly, putting her hand plainly in view:::

Cobalt eyes shifting restlessly, never lowering her weapon even a fraction, the woman side-steps slightly, maintaining a careful distance between herself and the oddly attired woman. That clothing...it was indecent! If this Cora couldn't wear a dress like other women, she could at least have worn sensible breeches and a shirt as Tarma did!
"Where in Gods name is here, and how did I come to be here? I...I don't remember...we were in the practice yard, and then....this place!"
Struggling not to panic, Tarma forced herself to keep a level head; a leader never let her troops see her afraid, whether they were around right now or not.

This is a strange place, somewhere outside of heaven and earth...
:::She thought it might help to put it in the woman's understanding:::
You're not dead though. You are in a place without time. No one knows why people come here, but we do. We stay for just a little while, and then we get sent back home. Some people come back, some don't.
We call it, the Brink of Time.
