Of course, Mastema knew why Thanatos had left, and he was likely better aware of Kaiori's near hopeless condition than he was. Mastema simply continued at the conference, explaining how the design of the fifth Vanguard unit was an upgraded version of the prototype's own, the only other humanoid, flight capable model.
Of course Proto felt an oddness in knowing that this other unit was an upgrade of him, but he had no thoughts on being replaced or any of the paranoia other living things might feel when confronted by their evolutionary superior. However, Proto knew better than to just let Thanatos go unguarded outside; he would be under the protection of a small group of beta zenogais units.
"Kaiori!" If Kaiori was still conscious enough of her surroundings, she might take notice of her name being called. At the time he'd shouted, Thanatos was nearly 100 meters away from her, but could tell from where he was just how bad her condition was. He had no real knowledge of how to use first aid or any kind of medical equipment, but he did have his celestial abilities. Thanatos could at the very least begin to heal her, and as far as he knew she was still able to heal herself if she had power - he didn't know she was human, much less how limited she was because of it. Almost ten seconds after calling her name, Thanatos was on his knee beside Kaiori, his hand on her bloody shoulder and beginning to use his own energy to heal over her wounds. The thought that she wanted to be left to die was completely distant from him at the time.

*Kaiori winces at the touch. Her body was warm, too warm, and everything else felt like ice to her. Her eyes harden like frost on the pavement in the harshest of winters. Her delicate brows knot in confusion. Her head turns and sways to Than. A small smile graces her face but is lost as she coughs more blood up from her lungs.* Than..what are you doing. *Her smooth pale hands tremble as they cling to his own, weakly prying him off.*

As Kai's hands took hold of his, Than allowed his hand to be taken from her shoulder and carefully took hold of hers, still letting his hopefully healing energy flow - Than was half human, so there was at least some compatability in aura. It didn't take a whole lot of thinking to tell she was weak and that these wounds hadn't been tended to properly. While trying to heal her, Than looks at her with only confusion and fear. This was the second time after a prolonged separation that he'd seen her near death. "Isn't it obvious? You're hurt... I know it's been a long time but please, let me help. What hap-- Nevermind. It doesn't matter right now." His outward appearance was nearly completely changed. In the past year, Than had grown a little and his hair was about 3/4 the length of Mastema's now. Still, even with those physical differences, he still seemed to harbor the same persona as he always had; his eyes and face were still nearly child-like in nature.

Still always the boy I knew you to be.... I'm old Than, very old. Now I'm human, and weary. I don't think it would be right for me to remain here now. *She looks as perfect as ever only the lack of angelic aura tells the tale of her humanity. She would return to heaven, return to her father. He would most likely banish her again and she would go to live with the demons in hell. Her blood wets the grass around her.*

"You're human?" It was a question that needed no answer, and Than didn't really care about how it happened. Than understood that Kaiori, in just about every respect, was older and wiser than him, but at this time, Thanatos didn't believe in what she was telling him. "Right? Right's have nothing to do with this!" His voice had taken on a sharp, almost commanding edge to it in his statement. "I know you're human and you're tired........ but that doesn't mean it's wrong for you to be here. Maybe a lot has happened since I last saw you, but I still don't believe that anyone but you has the ability, much less the right to judge your being." As he spoke, Thanatos himself realized just how little he now knew about Kai, how ill-informed his judgment could be. After all this time, was it really what he wanted to tell her. In Kai's absence, Thanatos had come to understand that he never meant half of what he'd done with her and said to her, but through this confusion he still had the desire to save her life. Than shook his head, almost disregarding what he'd just said to Kaiori and told her directly: "Maybe.....maybe I'm not 'right' in saying any of this, but I still don't believe I could forgive myself, maybe not even you, if I just let you die here......" He wasn't going to try and justify his attempts. Than knew that perhaps he would distance himself from Kai by going against what may or may not have been her real wish, but his being implored him not to let her die, and he didn't intend to.

If only the resources were within reach, the area about would flare up, and Than and Kai would be graced with the invading march of a minor army. As it stood however, the aggressor had to sit by and watch his perfect chance slip through his fingers once more, due to his own inability to act. If only he hadn't been so foolish...
He did however the enslaved elemental, the poor thing that stood upon the outskirts of the damages and watched with a slight uneasy feeling. Thoughts grinded against each other dully, like slabs of rock grating along their natural course. The long spindly fingers of the elemental curled into a fist, a symbol of the strength mother earth afforded him.
The ground trembled softly, in every direction. As if the very veins of ore within the earth were suddenly pumping with might, as if the dirt and rock suddenly had a will to move, to live.
"One day Than... One day..." The voice meakly teased, annoyed to see his victim whining and running again.

*Kaiori frowns slightly, her eyes showing her heavy heart. Her every breath rattles her body. She sighs and blood drips down the corner of her lips.* Dear Than, without my immortality I no longer wish to live. Don't you understand how I suffer after losing my connection with the world? I feel like all my senses have been dulled. I don't want to grow old and die over time. *She had tried to find vampires and werewolves to help her, but her search had proved fruitless. She seemed unaware of everything around her now as the darkness she welcomed come closer.*

Thanatos really wasn't sure what to believe after hearing those words, of all things, come from Kai's mouth. She didn't want to live because she wasn't immortal? The Kaiori he remembered, if he was right about anything, was always driven by pride and will..... could it all have simply been because of her immortality as an angel? It didn't seem so to Than, and even if it was there were other ways. "Is that all it is? Kaiori-chan.... there are other ways of overcoming your mortality..... and your suffering. I couldn't hope to fully understand the suffering this is putting on you......... but do you really believe you'll be free of suffering by dying!? Has that ever been the case before?" Numerous times Kaiori had died.... and it seemed to never give her solace before. Knowing she was about to die, Than gripped her hand firmly, feeling how intensely warm her body was, and continued to let his energy flow to her, though it would do little unless she let him help. "If you want to be an angel again, I'll try to help you. There must be a way....... please, Kai....." He was habitually too soft to fully command someone else, especially Kaiori now, so his words were reduced to pleas. Thanatos had himself felt the desire to die before, but had never the courage to overcome the desire to live. Now Kaiori would die if she didn't accept his help. However, Thanatos also was willing to do what he couldn't do before to help his old friend, and he knew that other forces would only prolong her suffering in death. The difference was that if she died she would be beyond his help.

::Tyrsais was silent for the most part. He was aware enough of what was going on to want little to do with it for the moment. He figured that any action he might take could easily lead to a confrontation better left for another time. So now he would simply listen to Mastema's overview of the new Robots that would be making up a new weapon::

Mugiri felt pelted with a dark thought suddenly. "Who is this?" He spoke mentally. He sat, and crossed his legs, concentrating on his words. "Where are yu?" He asked. He had millions of questions to ask, but now, only two did he have audacity to ask.

"Well, Sunny dear, it's not that you shouldn't. It's more that you, Kyiana, Xol, or the voices in my head *can't*. Here. Let me show you." Erudemasa snapped his fingers. Behind all of them, the portal to the present closed, sealing them in the past for the time being. Another snap and Eru reached into a timestream close to this one. From that separate timeline, Erudemasa grabbed four desks of the sort you'd see on a college campus and deposited right in front of each of his guests. Another snap, and in the back, a table and a slide projector appeared. Picking the remote out of midair, he motioned for them to sit as a screen slid down out of nowhere. He clicked the remote and the first slide appeared on the screen:

Pulling a graduation hat (pulled again from another world), Eru extended a pointer and rapped it against his hand. "Temporal paradox and you. Taught by your professor, Erudemasa. Shall we begin?"
In his mind, he thought to the dreams, "Well, can anyone really be trusted? Don't worry. I'm tough. Grrrr!"

Xol's left eye twitched manically as he picked up the desk and smashed it into splinters of wood and twisted metal. His face was contorted and his eyes nothing more than black orbs of utter darkness. "You... are... wasting my time... Erudemasa. My patience is already thin. If you want to give a presentation then please, be my guest, however do so after depositiing me in the Citadel as I don't have the time for this nonsense."His silver arua was now burning along the outline of his body.

*After another minute or two Trilla would look back up to where Eecheb was. Just what was his problem? He looked so nervous, and neather probably knew the meaning of the word. It made Trilla curious again, taking her attention off of Tyrsais. Eecheb certainly didn't look happy, he was however confused, though "why?" was the question? Something was going on with the lad, and it wasn't something he appeared to understand. Mastema could probably sense the apprehension from under the table, and one could wonder if he knew why Eecheb was suddenly uncomfortable*
Eecheb: gonk
Trilla: o.o | ?

========================P&T===========================
"Ooooooohashow!"
Pleasant sounds entertained, and the smell of popcorn fills you mind.
"Partner, I like your style. I'm thinking we'll get along just fine. Though... this rutter's a bit annoying ain't he? Why don't we leave im stranded somewhere nice and empty and a good long time..."
Twitch is watching Xol again.
====================Cole========================
He didn't like the feeling he was getting off whatever or whoever was outside the barrier, it was too... familiar.
A twitching brings him dropping back into his body in time to hear Mugiri mind inquiring after the voice. With a frown, he reaches cautiously towards the other man. Careful to hide his presence from those above, he whispers into Mugiri's mind.
"I wouldn't talk to that if I were you, some how I doubt its intentions are good."
With the message he sends a thought image of himself, sitting cross-legged in one of the tower's guest rooms and his name, Cole.

Outside... The same dark voice answered, leaving it's identity unspoken. Though the voice held no doubt that Cole might feel a sort of familiarity to it. Indeed it wasn't exactly the one who'd invaded the man in the past, but countless manifestations of KB littered the realms, each acting towards the same goal.
For now, it let the 'signal' broaden, letting it wash over the Citadel and crash into the shiny buildings therein. Cole was hardly of concern, and neither was Mugiri in truth, but anything that helped serve to pass the time was a joy.
And then there was the shallow breathing of Kai, her last precious moments counting. Soon Than would no longer have the companionship of her, but rather only the bitterness of happy memories overshadowed by his own weakness.
This made the voice smile, sinister vibes of contempt wriggling into it like worms thrown upon a birthday cake. Burrowing and hiding within, unseen and waiting to ruin the joys of all who might overlook them.
The voice sought the boy, the boy who was most assuredly guarded well. It also sought any who might answer it, sought even Mas's nearly infinite computer.
---
Meanwhile, in a solid world of elements, the enslaved pulled away from the misty conversations within the confines of it's mind. The voice was trying too hard, it was spreading itself thin, it was releasing control.
The elemental did the same, and the earth settled. The rocky veins receded into the skin of the mottled gray flesh, the very earth mother herself suddenly quieted.
