Kal refuses to tell our people that we're coming here... he's afraid that they'll lose faith if they know what we've seen while we're here. But I told him, if he did that it would make him no better than the tropos...

Keeping that kind of knowledge form them would be just another form of control... but he told me that without his word, our people wouldn't believe just me. He'd tell them I was lying... it would just be bad enough that the prince and princess were in disagreement on something this important.

Having this child...is the only way to prove it to everyone...

:::She hoped that the fact Tavin didn't hate her for this, it would make her feel better... but she already knew that he wouldn't hate her. He was too kind for that. But she feared that he wasn't so kind to give her any more chances to win his love:::

I've already told Luke. And HE hates me... I guess I don't blame him, but I wish he'd understand why I had to do it. How could he...?

And the child... I'll take care of him. This little boy is helping to save my entire civilization, and he doesn't even know it. For that alone, I owe him everything, and for what it must put him through one day, I owe him more.

:::Her tears seemed to stand still on her face, as though gravity lost site of them for a moment. All sadness in her voice vanished into a chill:::

Funny... my mother didn't seem to think so.

But like they say... she was responsable for giving all of Terra the life they have now... I guess Kal and I just weren't special enough.

And here I am... about to give this child to my people as a gift of freedom. Much like Kal and I were when we were born.

At the bar, Janani fades in, crumpling a piece of paper and looking quite flustered. She's having a time translating the books she's working on, and the gentle plop of her WhiteRose on the ground after if falls is the only indication, to her, that the scenery has changed. She blinks and shrugs. It'd only been a few hours, to her, but she was completely unsure of how much time had passed in the Brink. She may be immature by Shard standards, but she was versed enough to know that the temporal flow was very different in this place.

Instead of looking around for people, she continues to look between the book that followed her hear and a research slip to the side. She figures that the Brink hasn't changed 'it's' mind on when to send her here, and she hasn't heard the two talking yet. Tavin's words about never being alone inspired her not to be sad, but that didn't change the fact that things don't change overnight. It took decades for her peers to get out of the more human-like childhood state. She sighs thinking of that...

The only thing to do is to carry on, though. To do what we can to proctect those we care about so that they may have a better life than we did. That's what is important, I think.
