"Yes we did."
Taking the dead bug, and looking it over. hmm.
"Malikhai, you siad one of thies pinched you? might want to get some ointment. these guys aren't dangerous, but thier bites tend to swell alittle. don't want your foot not to fit in you shoe, do you?"
Okay he was exaggerating there, but it woudl get the point of 'swelling' across.

And he stared at his father a moment...before those big silvery eyes of his got bigger over that little bit of information that was passed onto him from dear old dad. Thus a look under the table at his foot, wiggling his toes some, a few seconds spent on contemplation and then a look to Piper. "Mommy!" Because that's who we yelled to first when it came to bodily woes at this age. And he loved his boots.
"You'll be fine, your boot will fit." Giving a little chuckle at that and then a smirk and a shake of her head to Malik. "And if it didn't you could wear daddy's boots instead, I'm sure he wouldn't make you walk around without boots all day." Ah that motherly ability to set it all straight with a sentence or two. It was a wonderful acquired skill.
"Can I have my bug back please? I'll trade you the rock for it if you want." Because hey he was learning all about deals these days. Normally it was a cookie for a chore, but this was different. Though it was always interesting in the mornings in the D'vinn house, so different from his own. Thus his favorite pastime; questions. A look to Piper to start. "How come you don't eat breakfast? Zara would yell at you for that. She yells when Daddy doesn't eat...but sometimes she yells when he does..." Again that sorta confused look as he was working at his second helping of food. Pancake waffle sandwich, good indeed.

"How about I'll trade you the bug for a quarter of a waffle."
Hey, Malik was eatting his own breakfast, but as Piper well knew, someone started bargaining, Malik bargained.
"That way, you can keep the rock to smash any other bug that may want to eat this bug."

Something new! "What's a quarter of a waffle?" Because as far as the boys and counting went...it was basic numbers, the fractions and such still illuding them at their young age. When they divided things among themselves, and there was a lot of it to count, they just made piles that looked the same. So 'quarter' was new terminology...wasn't learning fun? Though he wasn't so sure about trading his waffle anyway.
"What if Nym wants to eat it?" Because everyone knew Nym did that kind of thing from time to time. Wouldn't it be neat to have a pet like that just like Zy did? Ashlyn and the coq dragons really weren't pets after all. ANyway he doubted Zykariel would hit Nym with a rock. Thus he went about finishing what was on his plate and as usual it got flashed to a parent to show he had eaten it all, in this case mom.
"I eat...just at a different time, or not a lot. Zahara knows." Just to get that right quick. And sure it was half lie...after all, Malik had kept her too occupied for her to get up at that random time in the middle of the night to snack on something before going right back to bed. Yes, she still did that. Piper was quite happy with just her tea this morning.

"A quarter is a fourth. if you cut your waffle horizontally in teh middle, and vertically in teh middle, you get four equal quarters."
getting himself a waffle, he cut it just like he siad, and showed both boys the pieces.
"Each of these is one of four parts to the whole waffle, see?"

He pretty much got stares when he first tried to explain it, but then stares turned into those little looks of understanding and wonderment as soon as he followed said words with visual example. Now it made sense. "Oh! So if I give you one of my four corners," because when you cut a waffle as such, you essentially made corners, "then you'll give me my bug back?" Okay he got that. Thus one of his waffles was picked up and he duely torn it in half one way and then tore the pieces he had left again so he got corners. And it was held out to Malik. "Here ya go."
"What happens if you cut it slanted?" Of course he meant diagonal like most of his sandwiches or such things were. "You don't get corners that was...you get triangles. And pancakes are circles, you can't make corners with those daddy." Building off of what his friend had deducted about making forths came with making corners and thus square things.
Oh this was cute wasn't it? Malik explainging math to the boys who were soaking it up like little sponges and trying to put it all together in their own heads. It was nice to know how capable in thier learning they were though, made it easier to plan what he could thus then be taught from what he already knew.

"there you go."
dead bug traded for edible waffle, and then a look at his son.
"well, with a circle, even cutting it diagonally, like so.."
another waffle murdered in teh name of learning, holding up teh peices.
"You still get the same quarters, not corners."
A look over at his wife, and a slight grin.
"Though I think I'll leave mro eadvanced math to you."

Yay he got his bug back. Which was duely placed back in his pockets for his father to no doubt find later. Or Zahara...whomever decided to go through his pockets for whatever reason. Though he continued to watch Malik demonstrate this concept of quarters as he was finishing up his own food. Yup, he could put it away all too easily...where it all went? Who knew.
"Oh." So it was about quarters, not corners. As far as his mind could wrap around it, it seemed that when one spoke of corners, one spoke of making four of something; no more no less. One thing turned into four things and that was that. Okay, easy enough. "I get it. Just four." And hey! He'd be four next year. Weren't odd connections fun?
Piper gave a chuckle. "Joy, I get the fractions and other such thing hm?" A look at both boys, Zykariel finishing off his food and Malikhai kind of playing with the syrup that was left on his plate...at least he was using his fork and not his fingers. "In time, but we're learning other things right now, aren't we boys?"
And he got that lightbulb look like he remembered something, which he did. After all, they were indeed learning new things that came with options. Thus a look to dad because he was the one they had all kept mentioning. "I know who I want to pick daddy. I wanna do what the lady who looks like us does." A little affirming not of his head as if he was just so sure about that.
And of course when one chimed in, the other had to. "I want to learn from the short guy. He's neat." Or more so it was his attitude and what he did that attracted the boy. But he held up a finger in that about to give conditions was. "But only if daddy lets me. Is that okay?" A look to Malik, whom since thier talk he was a tad more comofortable around.

Malik looked over at his son, adn then at Zykariel.
"So you want to learn the art of Conjuration, and my son, you want to learn teh arts of Enchantment. interesting choices."
and a very interesting combination.
"Well if your father allows, certainly Zykariel. and we can probably begin on those lessons very soon, once I tell your teachers and they can arrange some teaching scheduling."
A small grin at them both.
"So..why these two choices? what struck your fancy in these particular arts?"

Both boys exchanged a look as if that was a funny question to be asking them. Why did they choose what they did? Though among that look between each other was one that spoke of oh the fun things they were coming up with in their heads to do with this new little skill they could do. It was still all fun and games. Though if one had to pick a technical aspect, though the boys probably didn't know, it was very simple to see why they chose what they did.
Malikhai by nature was quite the little manipulator. Here was a skill that could help him in that avenue, but his own natural born talents to use. Of course if you asked him, the answer was must less technical, "Um... I want to do something that you and mommy don't know. Because then I can help out too." Of course his mind never thought that yes his parents may know that skill, he'd never seen it so they must not.
Zykariel of course was trying to ponder the 'correct' answer as well. Though his of course would be quite different from his friend...after all, his parents weren't like Khai's. He'd yet to pinpoint what that was, but he knew that something as off. He'd ponder that some other day though, he was busy thinking about this question right now. "I like him, " a rather social child but picky about it at times of course, " and he can do the useful stuff other than flashy things and the things he does do don't have to be flashy." After all, who didn't like being able to conjure up food out of nowhere? And like his father, he didn't see the need for flashy all the time. Though boy did he enjoy it at this age. But to him, learning wasn't supposed to be wonderfully fun like that.
Weren't they cute? Of course they were. Ah the reasonings of children when they were given the initiative to ponder and think on their own of things that went on in their heads. Prompting, quite a fun activity to engage in with the children. So...her son wanted to do illusionist things...hm, how much trouble potential was in that? Probably just about as much as that mimicking skill was going to get him into. Oh she could just see the day where he would discover he could combine these two. But she shook her head lightly and tried to remember to take it one day at a time. She could worry about him getting into that kind of trouble later. And Zykariel being able to make anything he wanted, more or less? That was any ring leader's dream wasn't it? Yes, yes it was. "Good reasons." Just to give them the affirmation they needed. A few moments spent sipping her tea before a passing servant was motioned over and told to go get her some paper and what not, taking to her tea again as she waited for said items, immediately taking to penning out a letter upon receiving them.

Moonstone smiled at Jude's compliment. "Awe shucks." In good nature. He ate a bit of the bread to be polite but otherwise stayed out of conversation and food. He was thinking about his twin. Moonstone was worried for him, and how this odd smell lingered around him more and more often. It was a familiar smell, but he couldn't pin point it.
Meilikki smiled as she sat down, enjoying the compliment on her food. "A mage is a magic user. In Roarke's case, he's one of the best. He is a direct decendent of someone called the First Mage, a demi-god who fathered an entired empire. His lineage stretched all over the underdark at one time."
Bode was about tweleve years old now, and starting to grow into herself. She was in the long and lanky stage, before womanhood began to set in. She still wore the shirt Piper had given her so long ago, but now it worked in it's proper function, as a shirt not a dress. Simon allowed her to travel as she would sometimes from their out of the way. And going into Honoursfeild was usually not a problem. Bode knew this place well, it was her playground. So, it was no surprise that she would find Gaurdian Onyx in a fight with someone she didn't know, and she recognized too well the black secreation on his fur. Knowing better than to jump into a full blown fight, she hid behind the corner of a building to watch.

"You think I haven't experience anything? Are you that obsessed with yourself? Slavers and Jackles aren't all I've fought. Training isn't all mock battles you know, I didn't loose my eye in a mock battle!"
Zell was tempted but he knew he couldn't break his vow to Raorke, it meant everything to him. He wasn't even in the mood for fighting this creature.
"Dog? What does it matter who my aponant is?" Zells lips curled and he dodged feathers and claws. He no longer felt the pain on his hand. "You no longer interest me."
Jude was sitting in the kitchen with Melikki, Rusty and Moonstone when his ears twicthed. He sat bolt upright. he let his ears swivle around a little, he had herd soemthing, had felt something that had been gone in an instant. He sniffed cautously at the air around him.
He got up quickly and instead of going aroudn the table he jumped over it. "Roarke!" He barked, "Roarke if you're in this god damned manour we have a situation here!" He ran.
