Marcus nodded and went back inside, only to be pushed back out with a glass of rose water. The doctor handed it to him as though it were a medication, and instructed him to call Terryn inside. "You're to drink this," he said, uncomfortably.

Terryn took the cup warily, not wanting to smell it and get ill again. A light scent of roses drifted out from it, allowing her to bring it closer to her. "At least it smells better."

"That is probably all it is good for, then," Marcus told her. "There's no such thing as fair-scented medicine." He offered her his arm, eager to go back into the building.

Terryn sipped on the rose water, which did taste much better than the last thing she had swallowed. She would have to remember to see if they had chamomile tea back at the manor, though she really did not want to go back in there.

About fifteen minutes later, Dr. Drabinsky set down two small bottles full of suspiciously clear liquid. "One spoon at morning, another in the night," he instructed. "For one fortnight." Then, he rose from the table imperiously, opened the front door for the two of them, and disappeared into his study.

"He never shows his guests the way out," Marcus explained to Terryn, pocketing the vials. "Perhaps he feels it is a waste of time."

"Or perhaps he does not want to explain what is in those bottles." Terryn didn't like the look of unmarked liquids, especially when she was supposed to take them twice a day for the next fourteen.

Marcus shrugged. "I trust him with my life," he told Terryn, opening the door a little wider as if to gesture that she should go through. "And I trust him with yours."

"I would hope that this trust is well founded." Terryn exited the building, still not feeling quite settled in her stomach. "Do you know what kind of draught that might be? Hopefully nothing that will make me ill again."

"I have absolutely no idea," answered Marcus firmly. But he did give her a reassuring smile after shutting the door after them. "If you had any chance of death, I don't doubt that he would have told us rather bluntly. He seems to think that you'll recover."

"I would hope." Terryn placed her hand on her stomach, looking at herself disgustedly. "I still can not believe I was so blind as to not even see their faces."

"I daresay you had other things on your mind than seeing their faces," answered Marcus evenly, helping Terryn into the carriage. He was thinking about possible places for them to stay, and his gaze fell on the large arched window that faced them from Dr. Drabinsky's home. "What did you think of his home?" he asked abruptly.

"What about it?" Terryn didn't see anything spectacular about it, but it was nice. "It looks comfortable, I suppose."

Marcus nodded. "He's well off, the doctor. He's got a spare bedroom," he added, trying to not spring his plans on Terryn. Of course, he didn't mention that he knew this because one (or two) of his...lady friends...had fallen ill and needed overnight care.

"Well that is lovely." Terryn also thought it was rather odd, as the doctor didn't seem like the most personable type.

"It is unoccupied, of course," Marcus told her, once again trying to hint. "I'm sure he'd be perfectly fine if he had paying guests." Well, maybe it was a stretch, but he didn't want to take Terryn by surprise.
