Tristen looked up towards Vivillion as it peeked down, Tristen now seeing the bug, at least its head, confused as to what Mr. Jacq may be seeing. "You got a big day tomorrow, Vivillion." He said reaching up to put the bug at ease. Yes, this situation wasn't fair, it was the hand that was dealt, but it was one that Tristen would deal with all the same. "Don't worry about it, okay? You'll be great. Come back in the ball for now, okay?" Tristen said to the bug, reaching over with a free arm to recall the Vivillion back to the Premier Ball. It was a little surreal just now to the boy, the more he thought about it. In spite missing a couple of weeks, Tristen was a bit fond of the Vivillion, as was Wimpod. However, Mr. Jacq probably knew how to handle any situation that might arise from this, rather it be from the Pokemon or from the students. Tristen would walk over and hand the Premier ball containing the Vivillion, finally returning the ball back to Mr. Jacq after all this time.

"Wii-paa?" Wimpod spoke up to Tristen.

"Take it easy, we'll see Vivillion off tomorrow." he said. "We still got a bit more class to go though, so you go back to your ball too, and I'll see you this afternoon. Okay?" he said to the Wimpod. He would then recall his Wimpod as well back to the ball and stashed the Pokeball back on himself. He would look back at Fela to see about getting a read about how she was feeling, but also to give a bit of a reaffirming look towards her. Vivillion was going to be fine. Everything will be fine. She just had to let it be.

With the Premier Ball in hand Mr. Jacq would thank Tristen and ask both he and Fela to return to their seats while he stowed the ball away in his desk. Once they were seated he would turn his attention back to the class of large and ask if anyone else would like to turn their Pokeball in and a few more pairs would do just that. The entire fiasco of people turning in their Pokemon, which did not include Camp and Penny as for whatever reason they decided to just wait until the last minute which likely was due to Camp wanting more time with the Bug, would take up roughly half the class. Once they were done turning in their Pokeballs and telling the class all they did Mr. Jacq would move onto today's actual topic; the ethics of Pokemon training as it pertains to a Pokemon's natural instincts. Oh boy.

Mr. Jacq would go on a thirty minute long lecture about how Pokemon trainers, good and ethical ones at least, have an obligation to allow their Pokemon to adhere to their instincts, that denying them the call of nature was cruel. He would acknowledge he slightly touched on this before when it came to Pokemon reproduction but really wanted to stress how important it was to allow their Pokemon the option to pursue their natural urges. Not all Pokemon would do so, he pointed out, but a good few do.

And it wasn't just about reproduction, some Pokemon even have the call to migrate to other places, for such non-reproductive purposes as to evolve like with some Bulbasaur or perhaps like other Grass type Pokemon, to keep a theme going, to disperse seeds or pollen. Or even some non-Grass types like Clefairy that appear to have rituals they are compelled to adhere to. There were many reasons why a Pokemon may want to go off and it was up to trainers to allow their Pokemon to do so, maybe even aid them. It did not mean the trainer had to completely abandon the Pokemon, release them to the wild, but to let the Pokemon carry out its biological purgative, its purpose for existing in nature.

If Tristen looked to Fela during Mr. Jacq's lecture she would see that the girl seemed...relieved? That was surprising, no doubt he would expect a negative reaction out of her like the reproduction one. What was the difference this time? Maybe because the teacher stressed that it didn't always mean goodbye?

The bell would ring in the middle of his lecture and Mr. Jacq would quickly wrap up as his students got ready to leave. He would end class by reminding everyone Friday was the last day to turn in their Pokeballs and all of them, Scatterbug evolved or not, had to be turned in by the end of class that day. With that said he would dismiss the class before running out of the room himself, ever busy.

With class ended Fela would get her things together and make for the door herself, not appearing to be any hurry to get away this time.

Tristen would take his seat and waited on the other students in the class room to actually present. The Manectric teen wondered if they decided to turn in because they were ready to part ways with their bug or if by chance they didn’t want to get shown up. It was odd that none of them spoke up in that moment that Tristen tried to contemplate giving up Vivillion himself, but yet, after putting on the ‘presentation’ that he did, showing off the Vivillion with its distinct Pokeball pattern, that others would try to say something. Oddly, he did note that Penny or Camp made a move either. Though, Tristen was left to wonder if one of them had a say in that or not. It probably wasn’t important.

Once the class finally was done with turning in, those who had the courage to do so or actually managed to succeed in their assignment to begin with, Tristen paper ready to take notes for the class listened intently to the science teacher. It was going to be a shorter lecture to be sure, given that it took a while for the few that did present their science projects took up a fair bit of time of the class. Topic of the day, a Pokémon’s natural instincts. Truth be told, it was interesting and thoughts that he didn’t really take into consideration. While he was far from an incompetent trainer, there was lessons that could be gleaned from it. For instance, Wimpod’s urge to bail out when the going gets tough. It was within their nature to do that and no amount of training was probably going to overcome that. The more that he thought about it, why try to work against it? Use it. Maybe that was his issue with Wimpod the entire time? He was trying to train it just as he would with most Pokémon, but every Pokémon was unique, with their whole entire set of needs.

Incidentally, this related to other current issues. As he started to write his notes out, he glanced over towards Fela for a second and for once, he couldn’t really tell if there was much grief there any more. Tristen and Camp had been trying to get through to Fela that this was the way things were. Though admittedly, the two of them didn’t really know how to explain it to her. Tristen and Camp, admittedly, just wrote it off as ‘the way of the world’ in essence, which was probably the wrong way to go about it. Mr. Jacq, explaining that Pokémon has all manner of quirks and needs that will need to be tended to. To be understood and respected. Pokémon depended on the trainers, just as the trainers depended on them, as it was hammered into him. Tristen shook his head very briefly, almost needing to stifle a laugh to himself. Once again, he was astounded as the wisdom that was imparted to him before coming to this academy was coming forth once again. Maybe Fela finally got the clarity she needed? Who knows?

Before he knew it, Tristen perked up once the bell ring, looking at a nearby clock and was astounded how time flies to a teacher’s lecture. He would stash his notes and his other materials back into his pack, getting up. It was time for Ms. Dendra’s class. As he started to make his way out, he noticed Fela wasn’t in that much of a hurry to leave as she was yesterday, let alone back at lunch. Might as well check in. “Fela.” He spoke up, catching up to her, which took no time at all. “You okay?” He asked the girl.

Fela would stop as Tristen called out to her, turning around to face the boy, Pokemon biology textbook clung to her chest. Upon hearing the question she gave a slight smile and nodded slowly. "Yeah...I'll be okay." She said, letting out a sigh of relief, as if that question also helped. "Thank you, Tristen. You've been really nice to me. I know I've been...silly...and everything." She explained, her eyes drifting to the clock for a moment before turning back to Tristen. "I need to run by my room before class so I better get going, we'll talk more later. See ya." With that the girl walked off. Her response was better than it had ever been, at least.

In time Tristen would make it to the central courtyard where Ms. Dendra's class was typically held, her students gathering on the battlefield like usual. Tristen would arrive before Matteo who would eventually show up with both twins in tow, evidently resuming their conversation from lunch, this time talking about which villains was more evil or something to that effect. "Hey Tristen." Matteo said, letting out a heavy sigh as the boys ran off to go play on the seesaw before the teacher showed up. As for Indi he was sitting underneath a nearby tree, sucking on his vape before Ms. Dendra showed up.

"So, how did class with Fela go?" Matteo inquired with Tristen before class started.

Tristen watched Fela walk off, and she did sound better at least. Probably a bit remorseful for how she was over the past day and a half, but better. With her going off one way, he’d go off the other, towards his own class with Ms. Dendra. It wouldn’t take all that long before he found his way through a set of double doors and out into the open air. Matteo would already be there with B and E, though he wouldn’t catch any of the conversation before he got close enough to hear well enough. Once the twins went off, leaving Tristen with Matteo, the Growlithe hybrid popped the question Tristen would have figured would have came at this point.

“Well, not too sure about the start of it. Fela was still quiet for the most part. Mr. Jacq allowed the class to turn in early if we wanted to and I decided to play it a bit safe to do so before Fela possibly was tempted to do anything else. I kinda was tempted to keep Vivillion myself for another day just to maybe give Fela a chance to make peace with it, but then I just thought it probably was gonna be worse if I tried. I think Mr. Jacq actually caught on to Fela, though. Because I kinda found it strange that following after giving everyone an opportunity to turn in, he had a lecture ready about not trying to suppress Pokémon’s innate natures, like what Vivillion might be experiencing soon.” Tristen explained. “Fela seemed to be better for right now. But we’ll see Friday.”
PostPosted: Tue Apr 15, 2025 7:06 pm

Matteo nodded in response to Tristen, looking over at the twins on the seesawing and shaking his head. "Well, that's good. I would be surprised if Mr. Jacq did catch on, even I have to admit he's way smarter than he lets on. Most kids thing he's dumb just because he's messy and kind of silly but they forget he did create the Pokedex app for the Rotom Phone and is actually smart. Yeah, that's right, I listened in class. Just don't tell anyone." He said to Tristen with a silly smile. "Any who, guess you'll find out what the real deal is with Fela on Friday. Here's hoping...hey! You two! Bell is about to ring!" Matteo shouted at the twins after checking the time on his Rotom phone, the two boys perking up and immediately running over to join them.

Several minutes later, after the bell rang, Ms. Dendra would step up and address her class for the day.

"Good afternoon class! You're all looking fighting fit today!" She said with a cheer, her Medicham agreeing with a cry. "Today we're going to be doing something different. Today we're going to practice our Pokeball throws! I know not all of you intend to be Pokemon trainers but I think a Pokeball throwing exercise could be useful just for the exercise itself! Medicham, if you would please." She asked her Pokemon the Medicham nodded before telekinetically floating over to them a tray of Heavy Balls.

"These are Heavy Balls! A special kind of Pokeball made by artisans in the Johto region. You're probably familiar with these Tristen." She said, smiling at the boy. "As the name implies these Pokeballs are much heavier than normal Pokeballs but it is this added weight that makes them especially good for capturing heavy Pokemon. Today though you will be using them for our long throw exercise. As the name implies you'll be throwing these things as far as you can, using just one hand. You'll take a ball, of which you'll notice is marked with a number, and stand at the edge of the battlefield and throw them as far as you can!" Ms. Dendra explained, picking a Heavy Ball marked with the number one.

"How about you start us off, Tristen?" She asked, extending the ball outward towards the boy.

"How about you start us off, Tristen?" She asked, extending the ball outward towards the boy.

Tristen would hear the bell ring eventually and shortly after Ms. Dendra was ready to give her class. Tristen would then stare in confusion with the subject matter. Pokeball throws? He wouldn’t have imagined in a thousand years that would be a class. Maybe target practice or something of that sort? That sounded pretty relevant now that he thought about it. But then as she continued on, it wasn’t even that much. As the Medicham brought over the tray of Heavy Balls, Tristen stared in confusion. He was in fact no stranger to Heavy Balls and crazier still, the students will be tasked in throwing them as far as they could. Tristen wasn’t really sure how some of the students were going to fare, but Tristen wasn’t imagining that he was going to have any sort of issue with this sort of exercise. His eyes quickly veered towards Matteo for a quick second, a bit apprehensive if he should go all out or not. He then sighed. It wasn’t like he was hiding much of anything anymore so might as well give it a go.

Once Ms. Dendra called Tristen forward, Tristen walked over towards the teacher and took the ball just a few seconds later. Tristen got a feel of the Heavy Ball, where at any other time such a thing would feel pretty heavy to any other trainer. Not to him. Indicated where he gave the ball a flick of the wrist to send it about as high as the top of his fur on his head, and catch it back in the palm of his hand. He would then take his position on the edge of the battlefield. While he couldn’t possibly imagine tossing a ball like this as far as his adoptive father, he was fairly certain he was going to outclass everyone here. “Well, here goes…” He said.

He then wound up and released the ball, practically launching the ball from the strength of his throwing arm. Tristen watched as the ball’s trajectory made a rather long arc, looking as if it was going to clear the half-field line on the battlefield relatively easily and started to look to threaten clearing the opposing trainer box as well. Already he was figuring that this was probably a bit overkill…and he was left wondering if he was going to be tasked on retrieving his own ball…

The class would go silent even before the Heavy Ball hit the ground, jaws lowering as wide eyes remained fixed to the ball and followed its trajectory through the air, many pondering when the thing would lose its lift and actually begin to fall. When the ball finally hit the ground there was a few quiet gasps of disbelief that were easy to hear thanks to the general silence, the class just staring at the ball on the complete other end of the battlefield. One by one those sets of eyes would shake themselves loose from the Heavy Ball and turn to stare at Tristen in shock, many mouths still hanging open. Both Ms. Dendra and Matteo were included in the group of those surprised.

"Wooow! So faaar!" The twins shouted in unison, breaking the silence as they cheered for Tristen, jumping up and down and clapping for the boy's display. Slowly but surely the other students would begin to clap as well, Matteo one of the last ones to clap, even then it was a slow clap. It was hard to tell if it was out of surprise or jealousy, Tristen would certainly find out soon enough.

"G-good job...Tristen...very good job! Excellent!" Ms. Dendra finally getting out, shaking herself free of her surprise. "In fact, I think that may be a school record! Medicham, what's the length?" She called out to her Pokemon who had rushed to the Heavy Ball, dragging a tape measure with it. The tape measure would almost run out by the time it got there, having brought one big enough to each over the entire field but they never thought they would have to use almost the whole thing. Once measured Medicham would stick up all three fingers on its right hand three times and then three fingers on its left hand twice. "N-ninety-six feet! That's amazing! Congratulations Tristen! That's definitely a new record!" Ms. Dendra clapped, some students following her example again. Matteo didn't.

With Tristen done, and his marked Heavy Ball remaining on the ground to indicate how far his traveled, Ms. Dendra would call up the next student. Two more students would go and not even make it to the halfway point and then both of the twins would go in consecutive order, those two unable to reach a fifth of the length as they both landed at sixteen feet. And then there was Matteo, the boy taking a deep breath as he took his ball and prepared to throw. No moves this time, no cheating. He would try to gain some momentum as he spun around and then tossed the ball, watching it soar and land just over the halfway points at forty-eight feet, further than anyone else...save Tristen. And to think it fell exactly half the length of Tristen's. After a snarl of his teeth as he looked at the ball in the distance Matteo would leave the field.

The others would go and after everyone was finished Ms. Dendra would declare that Tristen, of course, threw the furthest with Matteo in a distant second. She would congratulate everyone and reassure them that how far they could throw a Pokeball wasn't really that important, this was just a fun exercise. With that done she asked everyone to rush the field, grab their Heavy Ball, and take a full lap around the track and return the ball to Medicham. "Got it? Get to it!" She said, clapping her hands. Matteo would waste no time to book it, hoping to maybe at least beat Tristen at this.

Tristen didn’t find himself in any position to boast, instead rubbing the back of his head out of nervousness. In spite of the students’, let alone Ms. Dendra’s excitement, he started to wonder if he should have held back after all. He walked back towards the rest of the students and stood back by Matteo in particular, watching the other students take their shot at throwing their own respective heavy balls…to much less success as Tristen did. The closest that came to Tristen was Matteo, who managed to land half way, which up until that point Tristen was astounded that he made it even that far. That was honestly impressive to Tristen. Though if he knew Matteo, the Growlithe hybrid probably wasn’t going to think so. That point came in clear when Matteo still remained silent throughout the whole exercise, unlike Tristen who at the very least was trying to call out words of encouragement to B and E along the way.

Tristen would then listen to the teacher once again, and despite her assurance that this was just for the fun of it, Tristen had the feeling that Matteo wasn’t going to let that go to. When she then told the students to take a lap and retrieve their tossed ball, Tristen would go on the track and start making his run off. Tristen decided to just take a brisk jog, not really putting all that much effort at all into it. And with Matteo rushing well off without him, Tristen figured just to give him his space. Yea, Matteo was for sure irritated. After taking some time to get around the track, just hanging around center where most of the students were instead of just trying to book it all the way around the track, Tristen veered off to go get his Heavy Ball to return to Ms. Dendra. It would take a little bit of time, but once he got there, he would pick up the ball and took a look at it with the “1” on the top of the ball. Tristen sighed, giving the ball another flick up just above his head to catch it in his hand again. Tristen sighed a little bit…the result of missing out on this sort of thing until now, he thought. He would then take the Heavy ball back to Ms. Dendra to turn in.
PostPosted: Thu Apr 17, 2025 5:50 pm

A mere second or two after Tristen returned his ball Matteo came sliding up alongside him and slammed the Heavy Ball down on the tray Medicham was holding, the Pokemon stumbling slightly from the surprise impact but more than capable of keeping the tray, and itself, up right. The Pokemon would shoot the teen an ugly look as he bent over panting heavily, hands on his knees. That boy was giving it his all. "D-dang...it..." He barely managed to get out as he gasped for air, looking over and up at Tristen and letting out a heavy sigh.

"You okay, Matteo?" Ms. Dendra would call out to the boy, Matteo standing up straight and assuring the teacher he was fine. With that assurance the teacher turned her attention back to the other students still collecting their Heavy Balls and doing laps.

"Man you're fast..." Was all Matteo said to Tristen as he walked off to go get a sip of water from the cooler of water Ms. Dendra always kept on the bleachers, Indi sitting right by it. Has the vape sucker been doing anything this whole time? Who knows.

With the last of the Heavy Balls collected Ms. Dendra would move onto the next, and last, stage of class; a simple set of exercises including jumping jacks, push ups, and sit ups. She typically had them do this when she couldn't think of anything else to fill in the rest of class. Ms. Dendra was a 'vibes' kind of teacher any ways. "Okay everyone, pair up for sit ups!" She'd instruct the class once they had finished jumping jacks and push ups, Matteo of course instantly finding his way up to Tristen. If he was ever to catch up to Tristen he needed to learn from him and to do that he had to be around him.

"You first." He said, squatting down as he waited for Tristen to get on the ground while he held his feet down.

Tristen double-taked when Matteo found his way over to the tray, and oddly, it was after Tristen made his way up. Tristen looked back towards the track and he was only left to wonder if he actually spaced out. He tried to stay with the other students and was not trying to outrun anyone and to make matters worse, Tristen wasn’t really out of it like how Matteo was. Tristen couldn’t help but to sweatdrop at Matteo, just before he walked off to go get some water. Tristen then looked at the teacher, a bit flabbergasted at how Matteo has been. Tristen rubbed the back of his head for a second before he walked off himself to wait on the next instruction out of Ms. Dendra.

With not much time left in the day, Ms. Dendra was out to try to fill out the day. A whole day of exercise. Tristen was left to wonder if one of these days if he could bring along his normal wear instead of his school uniform just to actually put some challenge into the routines that Ms. Dendra ask of him. A whole set of jumping jacks and push ups, which went by as fast as they came in due to the relative ease, never mind the amount of reps. Tristen understood it, though, these were meant for everyone around him, not with him particularly in mind. Tristen then heard to pair up to do sit ups and Tristen sweatdropped once again. Last time he dealt with that, he ended up having to make sure that Indi didn’t end up six feet under because of the conseqences of his liberal use of his vape and it was a wonder if he was going to get paired up again. However, Matteo would come to the rescue on that one.

“Huh? Oh okay.” Tristen said to Matteo, sitting down before the Growlithe hybrid. Once the Growlithe hybrid had Tristen held down, Tristen would proceed to get the reps in. Tristen looked around, trying to make sure that no one was close enough to hear. “…you’re not that happy with me again, aren’t you?” Tristen silently said to Matteo, all the while trying to keep a mental count of his reps.

Matteo didn't respond to Tristen immediately, just kind of grumbled a bit as he looked to the side, muttering something under his breath that was indistinguishable before letting out a small sigh and looking back at Tristen. "No, it's not that." He answered the boy, making sure to hold onto his feet the entire time. "It's just frustrating, like we talked about before. I know, I'm jealous of you and everything you're capable of and I shouldn't be but I'm working on it...kinda..." He let out an 'ugh', a sort of venting noise for his frustrations. "So don't sweat it, it's just me being...me...we're good." The other boy reassured Tristen. That was nice that he was making sure Tristen knew there was nothing wrong between them, even if he was still dealing with his own hang ups. "How many reps are we at? I haven't been counting."

“Okay…” Tristen said. “Just remember that what I can do took years to train for, even well before I even evolved. It wasn’t easy to get there, and never mind what I been through in the process to get there. Like I said, it wasn’t exactly great in the big picture of things…don’t let what I can do stop you from seeing that.” Tristen said. Tristen wouldn’t know how to say it, but he felt if anyone should have been jealous, it was probably him. Matteo didn’t have to worry about this sort of things that Snagem ended up having to go through. Granted, Matteo’s position isn’t exactly the greatest right now, but that was only because of his own screw ups, which were minor to the ones that Tristen had in Snagem. He still remembered he still had that one scar around his shoulder from Zygarde a couple of years or so ago which didn’t really fully go away even when he evolved. As much as Tristen told himself at the time it was to mess Zera up, and maybe ideally, give Lysandre at the time an easy target for him to toy with, Tristen realized it was dumb later on. While on the bright side, he ended up with a loyal Magmar now that he rescued from the likes of that psychopath Weezing hybrid that originally owned him, it wouldn’t have been a thing if he had been permanently taken out by the likes of Zygarde’s Thousand Arrows attack on the entire battlefield. A grim reminder of one’s own mortality.

Tristen kept a check on the sit-ups in the meantime, making sure every one was slow and deliberate to get the most of the rep like he needed. About all he could because otherwise he wasn’t being challenged all that much right now. When asked about them, Tristen nodded. “Fourteen.” Tristen said to Matteo. He was just about done and it wasn’t long before he finally got the full twenty. “Okay. There. Your turn.”

"Yeah yeah, I know. It just sucks because we're the same age. And I hear from my dad all the time how he had mastered Agility by the time he was my age. I know I'm not the best at it, I'm not stupid. It's just...ugh, whatever. My turn indeed." The boy went on, making mention again about his father, alluding further to the apparent pressure on him from at least one of his parents to be better, be stronger, be more talented. Didn't that guy also have a nickname here at the academy too?

Matteo would get into position as he laid down on the ground with his legs bent at the knees and awaited Tristen to hold down his feet. Once the other boy had done so Matteo would promptly begin his sit ups, initially counting but stopping his count, though not his sit ups, as he spoke to Tristen. "So..." He said, between a rep. "...we still on for..." Again a pause for a breath. "...this weekend?" He asked Tristen, proceeding to do a few more reps before saying something again. "What is your..." Pause. "...favorite sandwich?"

Tristen started to hold down Matteo’s legs to allow him to do his sit-ups. Once again, the once called ‘Orange Blitz’ or ‘Naranja Flash’ on the mind of Matteo overbearing on him. Tristen wouldn’t say anything more on it with Matteo, knowing that it was still a sore spot with the Growlithe hybrid. It only served to just point out to Tristen that Matteo’s father wasn’t exactly that nurturing to him; possibly setting high bars for Matteo to overcome and expected it done more immediately than what Matteo could realistically do. Tristen’s adoptive father at the very least helped him at every step, having one exercise lead into another, into another, until the culmination of the work shows. It was how Tristen ended up teaching and raising his own Pokémon, in essence. Perhaps the Manectric hybrid needed to help Matteo like that, though Tristen wasn’t too sure as to help Matteo along to begin with, never mind with Agility itself. Tristen didn’t even know how to use Agility himself even though he had some actual idea as to a start. He hadn’t practiced on it at all though since he figured out the start, though. He was going to need to try to do it again whenever he managed to get a moment himself. He needed to find some time somewhere. All the same, even if he does, it was using effectively a whole other element than what Matteo has access to, exacerbating the problem further in trying to help Matteo.

As Tristen tried to think for that brief moment, his train of thought was stopped when Matteo spoke up. “This weekend? Nothing changed as far as I know. Not since you asked me during Mr. Sanguaro’s class.” He said. Sure there is some things that he could do, but it wasn’t like it couldn’t wait until he was back from his trip with Matteo. “But uh, sandwiches? I…actually don’t really have a favorite.” Tristen said, wondering if that sounded boring of him. “I really like the club sandwiches Ms. Picante fixes during lunch, though. But really, I haven’t really found a sandwich that I didn’t like yet.”
