Eon glances at Kita, then follows Martii. Kita follows behind.
"We need to get Rayne and Shard and Kaori up too," Kita says softly.
Shard takes it gratefully and swallows the pill, along with the drink. "Thanks," he said, feeling the room slow down.

"Like a rock," Shard answers bluntly, leaning over a bit to rub his back. "I have a crick in my back and my butt's gone numb. And the headache. Other than that, I'm peachy. You?"
Rayne stirs in his bed, then groans. He was the one to drink the least, so he got not as bad of a headache. His tongue feels thick and far too wet. He gets up with a groan and gets a drink, clearing his throat. He grabs some food and heads outside, shading his eyes from the unwanted light.
"You two have fun. Just make sure the others are up," Kita tells Eon, walking past him and heads back to her house.

Shard groans in relief as Kaori works out the knot in his back. "Thanks," he says after a minute. "That feels so much better."
Eon grabs Martii before she can get too far. "Wrong way!" he laughs, and walks off in another direction. He turns a corner and literally slams into Rayne. They both fall to the ground, and stare at each other. Then they start laughing. After 30 seconds of that, Eon gets up first and help up Rayne. "We were just about to get you up," Eon said.
"Is that so?" Rayne says, smiling. "Well, I have a feeling that Shard and Kaori are awake as well."
"Guess so. Kita told me to just do whatever for now. She had to do some--"
Eon was cut off by a sharp and piercing alarm. All over the town little red lights flashed, and everyone looked around in alarm. The sound gradually quieted down, though Eon, Rayne, and Shard all jumped to their feet. Shard told Kaori to come with him, and Eon did the same with Martii. They all ran to Kita's house, where they knew the only switch for the emergency alarm was.

"Now is not the time to joke around," Kita said, stepping out of her house as they all arrived. "Have you all forgotten that Casey is still out here? He could have killed you all last night when you were all too drunk and goofy to even lift your wings!" Kita slid her cold eyes over everyone slowly, and they all averted theirs. Her words were filled with rage and venom, and everyone remained silent as Kita told them off. "I was the only one who could have survived. So I tricked an assassin and lived. That's no reason to risk your life and drop your guard completely!" Kita turns to Martii. "You said I looked sad. No. I was trying to hide the growing anger that was trying so hard to burst forth. That's why I didn't want to talk to anyone." She turns back to the others, and says with a calmer voice, "I wanted for you guys to be happy." Her eyes sharpened and the anger returned. "But now we need to be on alert. Eon," she said, and he looked up. "Eon, I need you to take Martii, and go to the west side of the town and patrol there. Take this," Kita says, handing Eon a crystal sword.
Eon's eyes widened. He looked up and nodded at Kita. He turned to Martii and said, "I hope you know how to fight."
Kita turned to Shard. "You go to the east side of the town. Take Kaori with you." She looked at Kaori, then smiled as she saw the P.J's. "Get some real clothes on first," she said, then her smile dropped away.
Shard nodded to Kita, and turned to Kaori, saying, "You're gonna need something better than daggers," and turns Eon away from Martii, asking for the sword. Eon hesitated, but with a glance at Martii, gave the sword to him. Shard smiled his thanks, then gave Kaori the sword. "It should be reliable enough; it doesn't break as fast as daggers or any metal."
Finally, Kita turned to Rayne. "You go to the north. I'll go to the south." Kita glances over as she sees movement off to her right, and smiles as she sees others approaching.
Zanna arrives, her double blades at her sides, and following her is Kiki, with her sharpened longsword, Alex, her wings tipped with diamond-encrusted metal tips, and Rita, with her terrifying sword. "You're not doing this with only five people to help you."
Rita smiles. "Whether you want the help or not. But safety in numbers, right?"
Kiki nods in agreement. "So that's that."
Kita smiles warmly at them, her anger gone."Right," she says, then her expression darkens. "We need to split you guys up. Kiki, go with Shard and Kaori. Zanna, go with Rayne. Rita, come with me. Alex, go with Eon and Martii."
Alex snickers. "I knew you'd say that. Ah, well. Nothing I can do about that." Alex stepped next to Eon and Martii, smiling a bit at them both, then turning her attention to Kita.
Kiki steps next to Shard and Kaori, Zanna steps next to Rayne, and Rita stands next to Kita.
"Everyone ready?" She says, looking at them, one by one, and getting confident looks back. "Watch each other's backs. You don't know where Casey is. Scour your posts throughly and return at sunup. You guys can nap every now and then, and get some food, but one person should leave, not the entire group. Got that?" She looked around and was reassured by their nods. "Good. Now, get going!"
All at once, they split up, Kita and Rita head to the south side of the town. Eon, Martii, and Alex head to the west side of town. Rayne and Zanna head to the north. Shard, Kaori, and Kiki stop at Kaori's house for a few minutes to let Kaori change into proper clothes before moving on and heading to the east.

After an hour of all the groups searching, Kita told Rita she'll be right back, and handed her a small comlink. "Use this for when you find something, or when you need to give orders," she explained. "Use it only in emergencies, and keep it on the same channel and keep it on at all times." Flying off, Kita went to the west and handed Eon, Martii, and Alex their own comlinks, saying the same thing. She went to the east side, then the south. When they all had their comlinks, she said into it, "Can everyone hear me?" When everyone said yes, she said, "Good. Now I want everyone to start moving inwards. Leave no house unchecked. I don't care if it's rubble. Check it anyway. THROUGHLY! Got it everyone?" They all said yes, and she told them to keep their links on, and she headed back to Rita.
Rita affirms Kita's order, slowly moving from house to house, when Kita arrives, and they both look together.
Zanna felt and listened to as much as she could, often asking Rayne if he could see anything. She flinched whenever he let a heavy rock fall, for she could sense the vibrations.
"Stuck with you two again," Alex muttered suddenly after so long of silence. She didn't say a word more.
Shard noticed something moving in the forest. Telling Kaori and Kiki he'll be right back, and if he doesn't return in 30 minutes, to call Kita. He was now walking through the forest, tracking, what he now realized, two people. He smiled when he saw it was just kids. He was about to call out, when the boy touched something and a bow sprung out in his hands. Shard's eyes widened, and he inhaled sharply, then stepped in the shadows, dimming the usual glow that emanates from him.

Kiki looks up in alarm, saying to Kaori, "What? What?"
Shard looks at the girl funny, then nods, and lets her lead the way. He glances back where he came, becoming nervous. "What are yo two kids doing out here," he asks sharply. "Didn't Kita tell you not to go in here? There's an evil loose out here and you're playing...hide and go seek! You two can get killed!"

Kiki stands up, letting the rock that she was looking under fall, and looks in. She sees the eyes and doesn't react. She only blinks. She turns, gets a small rock, and throws it in the shack. A whole horde of bats come flying out of the shack, and both girls shriek. When the bats are gone, Kiki looks in the house again to find it clear. "Just the bats," Kiki says, moving onto the next house.
Shard fumes. "I," he said as sharply as Tobias, "am Shard. Anyway if you were trying to help, don't bother. It doesn't matter how skilled you are in fighting, you'll still get killed. Go home, or go to the Cafe, or something." Shard turns to leave.

Kiki abandons the room she was in and runs to Kaori, her weapon raised. She sheathed it a moment later, and took one look at the book, and got out her comlink. "Kita," she said into it, "We found a book. It may be nothing, but we can't read it. We'll send up a flare at where we are." Kita says she'll be there, and Kiki gets out a purple flare, and shoots it into the sky. A moment later, Kita shows up.
"What is it?" she says, looking at the book. Her eyebrows knit together as her eyes slid over the scrawling on the paper. "I don't believe this..." she muttered after a moment. She read a bit further and her eyes widened in horror. Immediently she whips out her comlink and screams into it, "GET OUT OF THE TOWN! EVERYONE! EVACUATE NOW! FLEE TO THE FOREST!!!!!" She grabs the book and sprints through the door, Kaori and Kiki follow her, and open their wings and take to the sky.
All around them, everyone was doing the same. They all shot towards the Forest, and just as the last one got to the edge, a few loud clicking noises can be heard, and then all around the town little red lights can be seen flickering. Then the town is bathed in an unnatural fire. Lightning strikes every house, and everyone stares in horror as what the knew as home was being destroyed.
Kita calm voice cuts through the noise on the comlink. "It was an ambush. It was in this book Kaori found. The words were ancient, but I could read it. It had a set date: today. It is meant to destroy us all, assassin or not." She falls silent as the houses burst apart, throwing rocks and debris. It is so bright it could have been the middle of the day. "Move back farther. If anyone is on the ground, get them at once and fly them to safety until I give the word to return. Keep your comlinks on."
One by one, the Fallen draw back from the town.
Shard finds Ray, and picks her up, telling her she needed to stay away from the town. He looks around for the kids, which he sees are flying as well.
Zanna cannot see the destruction, but can feel the heat and the shock waves given off by the un-ending lightning.
Eon stares sadly at the town, then falls back, and looks for Martii. When he finds her, he smiles sadly and watches the town for a moment longer.
