Lance watched her draw, intrigued by not only the landscape but their methods of living. She seemed unfamiliar with a pen, but she drew well with it. The language she wrote in was unfamiliar, and Lance crinkled his brow.

"So your people are nomadic," he said softly, highly interested. "What keeps you traveling around? Are you lacking a stable agricultural source, or are you a troupe of performers who travel to other cities? And what's wrong with the north?"

It seemed so different than what he was accustomed to. Her life lacked the elegance and simplicities his was full of. She wasn't quite like the human slaves at home, and she was nowhere near Immortal status. He was jerked out of his thoughts when Riasha addressed the Siberian wannabe.

"That's really here nor there, though," he said quickly to the wannabe.

He wasn't entirely sure how the man would take anything Riasha said, but Lance felt as though there was a little more danger here than with the distracted Jóna. After all, part of the reason for the End War had to do with the Russians and something about them being antagonistic. He frowned; he couldn't quite remember. It was two thousand years ago and then some since it had happened, and it was quite some time since he learned about in grade school. He was sure he would remember at some point. Either way, Lance felt defensive and unsure of what would happen with the man.

His big hands were callused and warm. Jóna dropped her hands down to cover them. She had long, slender fingers, but Yakov's made them appear childlike.

"I'd say more foreign than you know if you don't know what I am." It wasn't clear if he had noticed her unusual ears. Since she was still within the bounds of her natural lifespan, none of her veins has started to blacken. She supposed she didn't look so much different than most humans. There was the distinct possibility that this man had never heard of or seen an elf before to even note the differences.

She giggled as he boasted of his size. He was huge, yes, but possibly delusional. "I hope that means you're bigger than the Grootslang." She assumed he would have an opinion on the matter and no matter what it would make her feel better about being killed by it in two days. Perhaps it meant that if she could handle Yakov, she was more than ready to handle the monster by the sea. Maybe she could seduce her way out of its den...

Yakov cupped her face and she couldn't resist leaning into it, wicked grin working its way to her face. "Does this flower look delicate?" she scoffed. "Remind Yakov's hands of what I said before. I always give as good as I get."

Yakov & Ruslan

Ruslan raised an eyebrow and let out a brief scoff in amusement. That sounded like a threat. "How peculiar that a man called West knows nothing of the north," he quipped. "You insult me then ask me to talk..." Ruslan looked down at the drink in his hand and swirled it around contemplatively, cat falling asleep in the other. "It is part of our job to lie," he said, shooting him a glare. "Perhaps when your people have learned how to draw maps, your mouth won't be asking for a bullet."

His eyes then wandered to the woman who had returned, eager and enthralled with a device that also seemed foreign to him. Its exterior was not quite metallic and somehow it produced ink. But such observations were too complex for his liking right now. Ruslan rubbed and eye and gently shook his head. Not enough vodka yet... He watched her curiously as she sketched out what appeared to be a map. Maybe Lance could learn from this woman. Though from what his skewed vodka-goggle vision could determine, her map was more like an amorphous blob of scattered lines and arbitrary shading than any map he could recognize.

Yakov now seemed fully engrossed with the girl in his lap, eyes wandering but never leaving her, and hands intermittently taking gulps from his pitcher then back to the tall drink of Jóna. He grinned, "Jóna can't feel so foreign once she's in my bed. Such a familiar place." He took another swig, laughter almost bursting vodka from his mouth as he struggled to swallow. "The what?!" he laughed uproariously. A hand swung around to forcefully grab Ruslan by the shoulder as he turned to him in his chair. "She says 'the Groot-slang'," he laughed breathlessly.

Ruslan nearly choked on his drink as well when he heard the term, sounding awfully similar to another term in their native language. Suddenly, his suspicious attitude melted away and back into an eased, giggly state.

Yakov's attention was quickly drawn back to her as their flirting continued, and his laughing tapered. "How big is this... Groot-slang?" he barely get out without a chuckle. "Tell me of its legends." He could already feel the challenge rising, nearly all rational thought leaving him as he continued downing drink after drink.

Lance's tattoos warmed against his face; as much as he tried to keep a fight from starting, it was obvious there was going to be one. He snatched a sheet of paper from his bag as well as a pencil, and began quickly sketching a map of Europe and Russia. He drew former borders and shaded former terrain. He labeled each of the old countries and wrote their former names. He looked over his work, then he added a few more details, a compass, and a map key. Feeling rather proud of himself for managing to remember all of that from his studies, he pushed the map over to the cold and drunk Russian man.

"You know nothing of my people. You've misjudged me," he said, his tattoos glowing at the ready. "But I expected nothing less from someone who soaks his brain in vodka."

Danger, danger, danger. A siren was practically going off inside of his head, and he could loudly hear his tutor's sharp voice scolding him for even talking to a Russian. They were the reason his people ended up underground. They started the war, and true, they suffered horrific deaths. He had learned in school that those people were nothing but war machines.

"And what about Yakov in my bed?" she purred, tapping his chin playfully with her index finger. "Will he then be the one to feel foreign, or is that also a familiar place?"

When he asked for a description of the Grootslang, she almost fell into a fit of laughter herself. "It is no legend. I've seen it with my own eyes. It is a giant snake, bigger than any tree. Could stack twenty Yakovs end to end and it still wouldn't reach the length of the Grootslang." She let her eyes drop deliberately to his pants. "I'm afraid your little snake in there is no match for it."

Probably a good thing. She didn't want to get torn in half. The drink helped eliminate her fears for what she would have to do. Maybe they would allow her to get drunk before entering its den. A little liquid courage might be the exact thing she needed before meeting her brutal demise.

"I have to go face the monster in a few days. I'm sure I would prefer to face yours," she added mischievously.

"I don't know the full history," Riasha admits. "But we did have lands at one point. Something terrible happened to them, in a war I think. The people of these lands," she gestures to her map again, "accepted my people at first. But there was a sickness spreading, and they were blamed. They were kicked out of all the towns, so this is what they started doing instead. Some of us are traders, and the others of us are performers. Smaller groups will hunt, but that is less likely for the family groups," she explains. "It's been like this for hundreds of years already, so I'm only telling you what I've been told; I don't know the answers from personal experience."

She looks at Ruslan. "I don't think you should pick a fight with him," she says, gesturing to Lance. "He is mightier than he looks." As for Yakov and Jona, she's ignoring them, keeping her face carefully averted from their pleasurable pursuits.

Yakov & Ruslan

[[i'm assuming the tattoos are visible, starstruck, hope that's right]]

As he turned from Yakov, he found his good mood soiled once more. The comment from the woman went through one ear and out the other; mindlessly chocked up to another empty threat. Suddenly, strange markings began to glow along the man's skin. Ruslan rubbed his eyes again, vision growing more blurred by the moment. Without explanation, he decided to blame the reflection of the strange torches that hung in bowls from the ceiling. A drawing was then presented to him at the counter. He squinted as he looked over it carefully, and gradually the writing formed into characters he was most familiar with. However, he couldn't help but notice multiple countries with distorted borders and regional names interchanged for surnames. He laughed again. "Hmm. Is this game common at this bar? Or," he looked around and gestured with the drink in his hand sarcastically, "'your people?'" He sipped his vodka as he heard the last comment thrown at him. Ruslan grinned, tilting his head to the side in a half-nod of affirmation. "We drink vodka for many reasons..." He nonchalantly brushed the edge of his coat back, revealing the handgun and hilt of a blade holstered to his side as he tilted back for another shot. "If you keep agitating me like this, you'll become another reason."

Yakov's eyes grew wide with childish wonder. "Twenty Yakovs?!" he asked loud and enthusiastically. Then, he caught her gaze falling. He felt what blush could still rise to his cheeks through his sloshed complexion at her remark, but he couldn't be angry with a woman that met his equal so well. He moved her hand to get a better feel for the snake in question. Half chuckling, he leaned in to whisper not so quietly in her ear, voice gruff and vodka-laden. "Just wait until this Groot-slang wakes up." He managed a drunken slide of his lips across her neck before leaning back. "A flower like you does not need to fight monsters."

A chill ran down Jóna's spine when his lips teased her neck. "I didn't say anything about fighting the monster. I would be very happy if I managed to avoid it," she confessed, the knot in her stomach tightening. The more she tried to ignore it, the tighter it seemed to get. Fumbling with the bar next to her she grasped the pitcher of vodka and poured herself another shot. She wasn't sure if it was nerves or her tipsiness to blame for her shaking hands.

Why did she have to bring up that godsbedamned snake?

Her other hand was still between the Russian's legs and he was trying to flirt. Or perhaps they were past flirting. Either way, she forced a smile and choked back her all-consuming fear.

"I don't want to talk about my Grootslang. I would rather talk about yours. He seems more friendly." She couldn't quite keep the whine out of her voice.

Yakov & Ruslan

Yakov held his smile, though his expression began to change as he forced comprehension more complex than he had previously planned upon himself. He could see her upset becoming visible. "Jóna doesn't need to fight this monster," he cooed, bringing a hand to her face. She must have caught him at just the right time of his drunken night to tug at his long-bittered heart strings. "Yakov will fight all of Jóna's monsters for her," he soothed. Then after a brief pause, "Under one condition." He slid a finger to tap against her chin. "You will marry Yakov. Yes, this is good? Good," giving her absolutely no time to answer. "RUS!" he shouted, raising his arm into the air, pitcher in hand splashing vodka onto the bar.

Ruslan nearly jumped out of his skin to hear his name called so loudly from beside him.

"We're getting married!" he yelled joyously.

Ruslan laughed. "You like this one a lot then too, huh?" he said before downing another shot. He managed to move his arm in a motion that resembled making a toast. Ruslan found one of the few remaining glasses that hadn't yet been emptied of vodka and raised it into the air. "TO YAKOV! ... And this girl, I don't know her name."

Yakov and Ruslan threw one back each in celebration.

Riasha actually laughs softly. It's not the first time she's seen someone drunk decide, on the spur of the moment, to get married. She glances over to Jona to see how the elf is going to take this. It's a quick glance though since she's not sure what the two of them will be up to next. Then she shoots Ruslan a questioning look as if to ask if his friend is always this...enthusiastic...about things.

And suddenly Jóna was engaged. She blinked a few times, head blurry, stomach knotted with worry, and suddenly Yakov had insisted on marrying her so he could fight her monsters. It was a quaint notion. Maybe a miracle happened. Maybe he was her life-mate and they could go in together. Once more she was nearly dislodged when he and Ruslan toasted the abrupt engagement.

Laughing uncontrollably, she patted his cheeks affectionately. "How could I have gotten along without you? Yes. Let's marry tonight and by the time you sober up, I'll have already been eaten by the Grootslang and you won't have time to regret it. Besides, it's something I ought to do before I die. Get married. Definitely. Who knows? Maybe you're my life-mate!" She giggled frantically, holding onto his big shoulders to keep from sliding off his lap and onto the floor. The drink really hit her hard now.

"Yakov. Yakov. Where are we even going to get married?" she asked seriously. "I don't know what goes into a marriage ceremony. I've never seen one," she suddenly fretted.

Yakov & Ruslan

Yakov laughed through his drunken flurry of meaningless happy gestures. He only comprehended maybe about half of what she said. "Eaten?!" he gasped. "The only monster that eats Jóna is Yakov," he said before leaning in and pretending to eat her neck. He managed to catch her last question though. Vodka setting in heavily, he looked around. Yep, the place was still incredibly strange and even if they were still in Volgograd, he would have no idea where he was anyway. He pointed to a table in the corner. "There, we marry there." Then he saw an oddly shapen lounge. "Or, there," he pointed to it. Then he looked to the left and saw a doorway around the back, probably where the rest of the alcohol was kept. "Or there."

Riasha couldn't even begin to guess what sort of marriage ceremony the elves would have. Likewise, she doesn't know anything about the Siberian's ways, but at least there were two of them here to discuss such things; Jona was alone.

"I'm sure they wouldn't mind you using this place," she says quietly to Yakov, speaking to the Bear-Strangler directly for the first time.

Jóna shrilled out a giggle when the man nibbled ferociously at her neck, almost shoving him off and instead grabbing at his hair to tug on playfully as he looked around for a marriage place. She got the feeling that neither of them were really looking for a ceremony venue.

"I wonder if this place has rooms..." she mused, pulling away from him to crane a look around. "I think somewhere private would make for a better place to have a wedding. Somewhere intimate."

She wondered what her parents would say when she told them she got drunk and agreed to marry a human she was intent on plundering. Well, it wasn't like they had much to be proud of anyway. Besides, all elves got a little crazy before their trials.

Burn the Grootslang. Jóna was going to have some godsbedamned fun.

Still pulling on his hair, she pouted. "I hope I can get you through that door to take you home with me."

Yakov & Ruslan

Yakov grinned, having no qualms with wherever their pretend marriage was consummated. He made an expression of exaggerated repulsion. "Wedding?!" He took another shot of vodka before shaking his head. "No. I said we marry," Yakov clarified. "There is no need for this in my village. I tell you that you are Yakov's, and so you are Yakov's."

Ruslan couldn't help but laugh to himself, having seen a similar scene unfold every time a brothel girl had managed to hold his attention for the night. His taste was certainly questionable at best.

Yakov picked Jóna up with both arms as if they had just been declared newlyweds arriving into their honeymoon suite- which they practically were at this point. "Tonight we marry!" he declared loudly. With only a slight stumble, he caught his balance, surprisingly. He gestured with his head. "There, there is room. Is good? Good."
