"Ah yes, that question does tend to come up from time to time. ya see, they aren't really 'alive' like your thinking. They are just elemental. they don't have brains...they are like clockworks! when you summon them, part of the spell gives them the ability of course to do what you tell them in limitations. they can guard places, defend you, attack what you tell them too, stay put and follow. when you dismiss them, the lose thier ability to retain form and place and go back from wence they came!"

Then a smirk over at the Illusionist.

"Now missy over there...she uses spells to make pets out of other intelligent beings. and when her spells wear, or break off, then yes, they can turn on her. also why she has the ability to mezmerize people..hypnotic spells that make them stay in a spot staring into space."

Hey he didn't care if he was telling more about the others.

When Arthur was finally able to catch up to Zahara he just saw her enter the opening to the market place and when slowly down he easily slipped on through though he kind of lost the drow afterwards. But sometimes there was the moment or two where Arthur wished he could of gotten into Illusion magic but he was happy at being able to control the elements at his finger tips. When he slipped off his steed Arthur carefully looked around to see if he could spot Zahara, seeing Faete the surface elf lead his horse over and let the two stay side by side and he walked up to an elf's cart to see the drow he was looking for talking in really fast drow at some stuff she was pointing at. Well Zahara was right, this was a side of her I never saw before...

A little blink and a good smile. See? He was asking good questions just like he said he was going to. Good job for him indeed. And thus he listened intently as he was given an answer, his attention turning over to his friend as he took to asking rather good questions too, turning his head back to the gnome to listen for the second answer. "Which means they can't get hurt either." Which was a good thing, he didn't want to get anything hurt if it was trying to defend him. That would be ungreatful.

And his look went back to the illusionist a breif second before back to the owner of the voice in his ears. It was almost as if he was telling for and against the others, though that probably went over the little elf's head. A look to Zykariel. "We done?"

"No I didn't. I know fairly well that you think he would probably make the perfect shadow knight in time. I expect you to take him to a sword like I would take him to a bow." Giving her own little chuckle back, nuzzling at him lightly. "Or positive behavior and exhuberant behavior gains a child's attention better so they listen well to what you have to say."

"Oh, well that's really neat." Zykariel's eyes had that intrigued look and he tilted his head. "Would you show me?" Because he wanted to see this. The conjuror had built up into this really neat thing and he wanted to see. "Almost." One glance at Malikhai and then right back to the conjuror with that intent look Sevilin often got when he was interested in something.

Zahara went on with her discourse with the male drow, shaking her head and pointing irritatedly. She wasn't playing around, she wanted those spices at a reduced price. Finally she walked over and picked up the ginger and a few other things then dumped them at his feet. To keep his goods from getting destroyed, he had to catch them. Glaring at her she shrugged sweetly and quipped right back. He wasn't really happy but he rolled his eyes and then held out his hand. She slapped some steel into his hand and then calmly began pointing out what she wanted. This ritual continued on for a little while and she would nod or shake her head as he picked up different things. Finally she patted his arm adn moved off on her way to another vendor. She'd come back later for her purchases.

Arthur blinked a few times as he watch Zahara well bargain for a lower price on the spices she wanted to get from what he could pick up since they were both speaking very fast. Though he almost started to chuckle when she grabbed a few things and then proceeded to drop them at the man's feet in order to make him lower his price or maybe something bad may come his way, hey it's the way Zahara worked and she knew what she was doing so the surface elf couldn't argue with her methods. When everything was done and all the spices and what not picked out she just patted his arm and off they went to another vendor. "I gotta say nice job! I should take you along with me if I ever need to go to the market place to get something myself." He told her with a light chuckle, hey if she could get someone to lower their prices why not ask for her help? Though of course it would always be up to her if she ever wanted to help him.

"well..they can get damaged, if that's wht you mean. we have resorative magic for that..but only works on them."

another little jump and clap of his hands.

"Oh? what do you want to see? air? fire? water? earth adn stone? Do tell, do tell."

"A shadowknight is not a realm I would want to push him into without his own interest. it can be a hard time and painful as well. but swordplay...indeed. and in time, when it's needed..perhaps even Malvolence will pass hands."

A smirk.

"gnomes don't get like that unless thier playing with clockwork contraptions or trying to figure out how to make a boat move without needing wind or magic."

A shake of his head. why didn't he think of that.

"He wants assistants. someone to help with his tinkering. and he's beside himself with the thought that he might get two."

Yes it was all a little good thing wasn't it? Though Zykariel had a very very good idea didn't he? After all, everyone else wanted to show off for them, so why not this one two. Though he didn't answer the question that was asked of them, after all that was Zykariel's question so while he waited for his friend's answer he idly played with the tails of his bandana.

"I know, I'm just saying and you know he's always trying to do everything you do. Well when the urge strikes him or when he's trying to impress you for some reason." Ah yes those 'look, look!' moments children often had. They were quite adorable sometimes. But a shake of her head. "I'd say it depends on how it's taught and he's going to get hurt doing something whether I like it or not." However she looked skeptical about Malvolence. Tricky blade that it was indeed with it's particular ways of more or less addicting it's user. Sometimes she could barely avoid it herself. "We'll see about that..." Didn't know if she liked the idea of the blade passing from father to son as it had before. Though a raise of an eyebrow, looking up at him as he apparently had an ephiphany. "Would that be such a bad thing really?" Well...long as it wasn't an all consuming thing and the boys actually learned something more than just fiddling with various gadgets, though that was a good skill in itself. They had other schooling to attend to than just magics.

His enthusiasm was seriously catching and Zykariel grinned. "I want to see water." He'd seen something with the ground and fire, he wanted to see water now. He couldn't wait to tell his father about all the neat things he'd learned down here.

"They wouldn't sell you anything at this place, Galesen." then turning to the next vendor and beginning the ritual all over again though this one was much more reasonable and she didn't spend much time at his stand. Most of the things he was selling she already had. She made her way instead over to one of her favorites and grinned. Speaking in that rapid drow she told him what she wanted, explaining that she wanted it nice and juicy, plenty thick and fresh. So fresh it hadn't even been slaughtered yet. Placing her order, she walked off to another area of the marketplace and began to peruse the wines. It had to be the very best, so she didn't spend nearly as much time baragaining, more in actual conversation, debating the merits and taste of each before she finally made her selection. Sevilin would choke if he knew how much she paid for the botle but what he didn't know, couldn't hurt him right? Good philosophy to have. "Galesen, go pick up my steak. Back at the last vendor, they're already paid for so just act like you are my slave or something."

Arthur paused to say something but then shrugged it off, why argue something that is actually true? So on they went going from vendor to vendor and Arthur had a fun time watching Zahara bargain for the stuff that she had put down on her grocery list, though when she ordered the streak he couldn't help but think of it, it sounded really good and when cooked it would even be better tasting. Then they headed off towards finding a wine to buy and some of the ones he was able to sample was pretty good, maybe sometime he could ask Zahara to buy him one if she ever came back; he could pay her back some how other than money. Though when she told him to go get that steak she ordered earlier he nodded lightly with a small. "Alright, I'll be back." and headed off back to the vendor. Once he got back to the man he walked up to him saying. "I'm here to pick up Lady Val'ril order." and in less than a minute a package containing Zahara's order of fresh steak was handed to him, so with a light nod Arthur headed back to the vendor he left Zahara at and stood next to her as they looked over the items. "I got your steak for you, here you go." He said as he handed it over to her when she wasn't distracted.

"Lets say alot of gnomish tinkering ends badly. and dealing with metal moving parts and steam powers nad mana batteries and lord knows what else they use...explosions are common."

A shrug of his shoulders.

"though very few gnomes have actually died in them...I suspect they are relatively minor. but then again, I don't know about hwo they test things, either."

The gnome gave a grin, and dug around in his robes, and pulled out a little globe of water and tossed it into the air. it shattered and the water spread out in slow motion, molding nad forming and increasing until he had four floating manta rays, all composed entirely of water.

"Whatcha think?"

"Well let's just mention one thing, anything happens to those boys and that gnome has to deal with me, you, and Sevilin. Me and Sevilin on our own can be pretty imposing when it comes to those kids, then throw in you who isn't afraid to do mean nasty things to anyone who messes with your family, regardless of whom they may be." A little shurg. "Again I stress toddler...anyone willing to try and test me, will not like what happens at all."

Wasn't that a nifty trick and he resisted an urge to poke at the things, because that was what little boys did, poke at things. After all this water created thing was something that he had never laid eyes on before. Water itself was rather foreign to him, outside of the bathtub and the lake outside that is and the only sea creatures in there were toys or harmless things. "What are they?"
PostPosted: Tue Oct 24, 2006 5:39 pm

Zykariel blinked as the orb exploded and water droplets began moving and forming into things. That was a very cool trick, now wasn't it? And he hadn't used overly flashy magic to do it either. Sure the globe probably didn't need to shatter, but at least he hadn't used balls of fire and flashes of lightning. "Can you teach us how to do that?" Oh yes, he was excited now. "Can you make it fly...or swim or whatever it's supposed to do?" He glanced back covertly at Malik and Piper. "Can you make it attack the mean guy in black robes?"

Zahara was somewhat busy making sure she had the perfect bottle of wine but a moment later she turned around took the meat from Arthur, patting him on the head lightly. "Thank you." She had a few more things to get and then they could leave. She picked up a bag and began filling it with potatoes that she'd weighed and studied in her own way before dropping them in. Knotting the bag, she paid for the last bit of it and then handed a bunch of stuff to Arthur. "Carry that for me so I can go pick up my spices." Walking back to the first vendor that rapid drow came back and she began arguing with him. It didn't take long to bring him over to her way of thinking and she took her bag over to Faete and mounted up on him. "Come on Arthur. We need to hurry if I'm going to make it back in time to get these in."

Arthur smirked a little bit when he got patted on the head by Zahara, hey it's better than no thank you at all so he took what he got. "No problem." So after they grabbed a really good bottle of wine they continued on their journey through the market place and soon they stopped to grab some potatoes, of course Arthur did do his share and helped Zahara pick out a few spuds ut that was it and soon enough they grabbed what she needed and once paid he was asked to carry the bag of potatoes. "Sure why not? It wont be right for you to carry everything." So there he was walking through the market place carrying the bag filed of spuds over to the spice cart so Zahara could pick up what she wanted. Once they were done they headed over to their rides and soon they were mounted and ready to leave. "Alright Zahara I'm ready lets go." And once they made sure everything was set they took off back to the Twilight.

"they are manta rays. and technically, they are flying...as they are normally an ocean based creature. but I can't make them fly higher than this. but I can make others..sharks, pirahna, and octopui."

a chuckle and shake of his head.

"I could, but he can counter and then we all get in trouble from the master, now don't we. and yes, this is one of the summonings you woudl learn. though this is a more advanced form, the premise is the same. the more power you get, the more complex and impressive the creatures you can summon forth."

A nod at that.

Malik shook his head lightly and gave her a hug and a kiss, and a firm pat on the rear.

"everything will be fine, I'm sure."

looking back over at the kids.

He frowned a little at his friend, leaning close to whisper to him. "Don't say that, daddy said no horseplay." And you didn't want to get daddy angry, he yelled and got that look that made you know you did something you weren't supposed to. A look back to mom and dad in that typical little boy way of checking to see if mom and dad had heard that before turning his attention back.

Hm, so that's what that was called was it? The only one out of the others that he had recognized was the shark...only because they played pirates and shark always circled the plank...well in thier games they did. Putting his hands behind his back to again resist that poking urge. But then a little 'okay' nod like daddy did when he was approving of something. Yup he was done. Another look to Zykariel.

Another little chuckle at her husband. "Well aren't you just a bundle of affection today." Whether because he was trying to keep her out of her overprotective tendencies or just because he was being affectionate was one of those little secrets of his that she would more or less never figure out. "And you always say that until something does happen to him and then you become the over protective father and it's quite fetching really."
