"That means I can't play this time?" He pouted briefly when he realized that that was what his father was telling him but then he kind of felt happy that was at least getting to come. "Okay..." And then he turned around and headed back up to the nursery. He chose to talk to Piper instead of Malik and said. "Daddy said I can watch and listen and then tell him all about it and next time I might get to learn too. Is that okay?" Still waiting to be told no.
She paid close attention to his response to Zykariel and nodded. That was best for the boy. Watching him leave, she picked up where they had left off. "Yeah...I met someone from there today. He told me quite a bit about it. Did you know there were others like us? Ones who weren't traditional and orthodox and had fled?" She paused for a moment and leaned her head back against the couch. "I'd heard rumors of it, even thought about trying to find it but that stopped when I found this place. Sometimes I miss being around other drow though. Do you ever get that way?" Hanging with Nadai had been an absolute blast and she found herself missing that area of her life. Sure she had Sevilin and Zykariel but Kariel was a little elf and Sevilin had his own seperate life, besides he was so quiet and they often fought about stupid things when she asked questions. Mostly because of her but she wasn't going to admit that.

"Just to be safe Zykariel." After all the boy didn't even understand why he broke glass and such without even touching it when he was upset, he wouldn't quite grasp that his genetics gave him so much power to play with that it could be bad. And as the boy toddled back off, he turned his attention back to Zahara.
A blink. "Us?" Wait a moment. Why was it us? He didn't consider himself exactly what she was. She was defiant runaway with a strong will to live. He was the lucky one who pestered the right surface elf and had been ready to submit to his way of life weeks before that moment of decision. but he let it pass and a shake of his head. "No I don't miss being around other drow. I'm happy to not be in the thick of them...I've always been a loner anyway."
A little nod to Zykariel. "That's fine dear, you can just stay by me so nothing happens that would upset your father." Thus holding a hand out to the child some for him to take. "Hand." Because she wasn't going to let him walk down there without holding one and she knew he wouldn't hold Malik's.
And Malikhai grabbed hold to his own father's hand, swining it lightly before settling and just giving a little tug. He knew to hold a hand when going down there. Oh yes he was quiet excited and ready to go. All smiles and a giggle or two at the prospect of this all.

Malik gave a nod to his son, and waited until Piper had the other one, and then started ont eh way down to teh arean area. of course there were the sounds of torment, creatures being beaten into submission or slaves broken for thier purposes. gladiators had to be broken so they coudl do as told without question..as well as soldiers. not to mention slave were easier to handle for things than trying to get regular people to agree to them.
Breakers walked these hallways freely, as well as robed figures of various colors, and others in some form of clothing, if not exactly modest. most of them being gladiatorial armor.
But once down to the arena, he let go of Malikhai's hand, and gestured to teh four in thier own little areas.
"these are the best teachers in four different magical paths. you can talk to each one as long as you need to, in order to make a choice that you feel comfortable with, alright? No need to rush, you can take your time."

Zykariel nodded and took Piper's hand then was glad he had since there were so many noises and strange things going on down there. He wans't going to admit it but it was a little scary being down there. Those screams made him wonder and he turned his head a few times to see into random rooms even tugged on Piper's hand a bit when something caught his attention but he never strayed from her side. When they entered the arena, his purple eyes got really wide and he glanced around then gazed at each one of the teachers. What was Khai supposed to do? "Wow...it's huge. Is this where he's gonna learn Miss Piper?"
Zahara turned and looked at him for a moment. Wouldn't that figure? Of course Sevilin didn't even get homesick or lonely. She didn't really either, just wished for some kind of company every once in a while. That's why she'd taken up with Arthur. "I guess that makes sense. You lived a rough life at the hands of the other drow. And I didn't. At least not as rough as you." She was quiet for a moment. "I just...I don't know. I feel like I never really know anything anymore. Arthur's acting weird and I had a lot of fun this afternoon. Nadai is a great guy." She didn't say it but she was thinking that he was way different from Sev. for some reason though she thought that might upset him so she kept that part of it to herself. "It was kind of interesting being around another one after all this time. I mean besides you of course..."

Malikhai had already learned to ignore what happened in the basement and pretty much ignored it as best as he could...even if he was curious about it all and a little uncomfortable. After all, he was only a toddler. But a look up at his father as he gestured to the four in there...which lead to him gaining his shyness that came and went and stepping lightly behind his father, gripping at his pant leg. Oh goodness where was he supposed to start or more importantly what exactly was he supposed to ask or talk about? Strangers did not settle well with him either.
A little laugh from her. "Yes Zykariel, this is where all the learning like this happens. Even Arthur learns things down here. It's safe to do so here." Piper shook her head and picked up Zykariel, then walked over to Malik and gave him a little shove on his shoulder. "Don't make him do it on his own, he won't know what to ask or anything." Giving one of those gesturing looks down to Malikhai to indicate his quite obvious uncomfortable behavior. "He's just a toddler A'mael, this can be overwhelming for him." A little tap to her temple to then indicate that she could feel it through bonds to the boy, probably a little stronger than Malik could but that was because him and his son's bond to each other was still developing.
"Yeah yeah I know, I'm no fun and so on and so forth." He chose to ignore talking about such things that involved his past. He usually did and no one asked so he didn't talk about it. "So this Nadai is a drow from Vesendar and your new friend? You do get out don't you?" Giving a little shrug at that and not really giving any sigh of worry about it. What she did was her own thing, as long as she didn't bring anyone back to his place, which was technically hers too.
"Arthur acts weird, that's what a surface elf does. He's probably weirded out because you have a new friend." Was jealous the word he wanted? He didn't know, Seviling literally didn't know what it meant to be jealous. Hell, he knew she was sleeping with Arthur and that had never bothered him, long as she didn't bring him over.

A glance down a slight grin.
"Now now. no need to be nervous or shy. They are here to show you things, and one will be teaching you."
A kneel down, moving him out in front of him, but keeping his hands on his shoulders.
"All the questions you ever had about what mom and me do with magic can be answered here. See the man in teh black robe? he uses the kind of magic I do. but he is better at it, because that's all he studies. the pale lady, she uses magic like mom puts in her arrows. that little guy..he creates things out of magic. adn the dark woman, she uses magic that makes you see, hear..even touch things that aren't there, magic that messes with your head."
trying to be somewhat general with it.
"but they know what they can do better than I do. and they would I'm sure demonstrate it for you. that's why they are spread out, so they can show you things without getting in eachother's way."
"you can ask them anything you want. you can have them show you things..they are here to impress you, they all want you to pick them. and me and mom will be right here to help you too. but you have to choose, so I want you to ask them everything you want, so you make a good choice for yourself."

Zell laughed out loud. "Pay the piper? Ha! hahahahaha!" He almost doubled over laughing. "It's so fun to torment you with my 'insults and slanders', did you know that?" He whiped tears from his eyes, and he straighetened himself up once more. He was no longer laughing. "Yet again you prove me right, you have no loyalty. Do you understand what a promise is? As long as I live, I will never lay an angered finger towards you. I promised Roarke I wouldn't, and even after death I would keep my promise." He finally hopped off of the arm of Aella's chair. And stood there with a somber look on his face.

"I know what a promise is, canine. And if, when the time comes, you choose not to defend yourself, then that will make things all the easier on me, won't it."
a slight shrug.
"laugh if you want. but for all your training, for all your learning, I know more. You and your pack haven't hunted like I have. you haven't been through fights like I have, and you don't have the kinda of power I have. You'd find elemental power and demonic power are two entirely different beasts."
"you've never even had to fight on your own, unless it's against a packmate. I doubt you could even handle yourself in a real fight without your whole pack to help you. you'd be as lost as a little puppy."

He blinked at his father, giving a look out to the four and then a look back to Malik, eh he still wasn't so sure even with the little pep talk he was getting at the moment. Malikhai toed at the ground with his boot and swallowed. Dad wanted him to be brave about this...he could be brave. Yeah he was brave. Mom and dad were never scared of anything...well unless he had done something really really bad that got him hurt. But they were never scared otherwise. He couldn't be the only one scared.
But...still. Another one of those unsure looks, letting his fingers play with themselves and then a look to mom to perhaps save him from having to do this by himself. He'd be brave, but no smart person went by themselves, right?
She wanted to give a soft laugh at thier son as his enthusiasm was failing him and he wasn't so sure that this was so great after all, giving those little manipulative looks that he had learned from somewhere or another, trying to get things to go more in his favor. He just didn't want to go alone was all and she knew that. Ah yes, bonds are wonderful. Idea. Giving a smile she set Zykariel down next to Malikhai. "Here, why don't you take Zykariel with you? He has to hear what's going to be going on too. Remember, hold hands down here so you don't get left behind." That was thrown in there so they both could have the comfort of holding onto someone without being 'babies' about it. Little boys, they thought the funniest thigns sometimes.
Okay, that was a bit better he supposed now wasn't it? He didn't have to go alone and when him and Zy were together, nothing could get them...well Ashlyn could, but she wasn't something scary. Yeah that would be okay. So he gave a nod to his mother, a smile to his friend, and then a wide grin to Malikhai in evidence of that little bolstering of confidence to the situation. "Okay I'll do my best." Thus taking hold of Zykariel and pulling him off. First up, guy in black...even if he was a little intimidating.
Piper looked to Malik and crossed her arms lightly giving him a little grin. "He just needs that little push every now and then, he'll get over it eventually." The balance in raising thier son was a little hard to maintain sometimes. After all, she had been sheltered as a child and Malik had been pushed as one. A little pick at her sleeve a moment. "And I swear, one screw up by him and he's out..." yes she was holding a grudge to that particular necromancer now.

Zykariel had immediately upon being picked up reached for something to hold onto. He usually grabbed onto his father's hair but Miss Piper might not like that. Besides his own mother had too short of hair to hold onto on those rare occassions when she did pick him up. He improvised and held onto her tunic. Watching his friend with wide, unblinking eyes. He didn't like Malikhai going up to those people alone though he wouldn't want to be doing it either. Then he was set down and told to go join him. Walking over, trying to be brave even while clutching Malikhai's hand, the pair stopped in front of the necromancer. Playing the protective one, Zykariel regarded him for a moment and even went to cross his arms like his father did when questioning someone but holding Malikhai's hand prevented that. He bravely cleared his throat and then asked, "Why should he pick you?"
"I didn't say that. When you relax and not get so seriously a**l about things you can be a lot of fun." Of course those times were few and far between but when he did let loose, he excited even her. "Yes and apparently there's a lot more over there as well. Might even be a new place to expand the business, not to mention more kids to play with Zykariel." She hadn't even really thought about it so why was she bringing this up to Sevilin? The answer wasn't around for her to pull out and justify with. "Why should he be? I can have as many friends as I want and he has no control over that!" That half defensive, half panicked note was back in her voice, the way it always appeared whenever dominating words were used or men were upset with her. Always going back to old habits, wasn't she?

"Sure I can." Yes, he could relax and have fun and there were picture perfect moments between him and Zykariel where he didn't care what anyone thought of him and was just down on the floor playing with the boy and Nym as well, going all out in the fun area. Not even marking his page, he closed his book and set it aside. He could find where he left off later.
"Hm, we'll see about other kids. He's little...don't want to thrust him into anything uncomfortable too fast. I'd like him to be a bit more self aware before I put him near anyone who could push him too far in some way and cause that magic of his to flux." Giving a little shrug before moving on, giving a look to her. Apparently she wasn't happy about that aspect of Arthur.
"No need to raise your voice Sweetheart. He's a surface elf that you give a lot of attention to. And let's face it, you give him the most positive and welcoming attention out of any of us here. Now you have a new friend that you have a bit more in common with and he doesn't want to loose the amount of attention that you're giving him to someone else. That's how I see it anyway."

"Oh I forgot about that. Speaking of which, do you really think it's a good idea for him to be down there with Malikhai, learning the same thing he's learning with his random bursts? I'd hate to see bad blood develop between those two because one is better than the other at magic. Maybe they should just train alone for the time being...?" She didn't really know for sure, wasn't even totally postitive that they would have negative effects on each other because of it. Her sister had been jealous of her but maybe since Zykariel and Malikhai were growing up different that wouldn't be an issue. Hearing the familiar nickname calmed her almost immediately and she thought about what he was saying. There was a lot of truth to his words, truth that she wouldn't normally admit. "You're probably right. He does like to monopolize my attention most of the time." Then she turned more fully onto the couch and stretched a bit before meeting Sevilin's eyes. The fact that he'd put down his book was a good sign. "Would you do me a small favor? Would you give me one of your famous massages? I could really use one about now...worked myself hard at Nadai's." Then the clincher. "Please Raven?"

"Which is why I said he could go look and then we'll see. Have to be careful with him after all. And I'm sure power displayed between the two of them wouldn't be taken negatively, merely foster a need to improve so they can play together without one being over the other." Then a little chuckle from him and a shake of his head. "Monopolize I do think is the correct word on that little situation.
Though a raised eyebrow to her as she changed positon and stretched some before asking for a massage from him with one of those looks of hers and then throwing in the nickname that he had grown accustomed to. "A massage eh? And what did you do at Nadai's to work up the need for one of those?"
Not that he was objecting and he merely changed his position on the couch so that he was somewhat sitting behind her and laid his hands to her shoulders, starting to work her muscles with that expert knowledge of how to touch and work a body.

And this is why Sevilin was a perfect father. He knew what to do in situations like this when she had not a single clue. She would have just told the boy no. That he would learn what he needed to learn from her. But that would have only upset him and then there would have been tears, there had already been pouting when Sevilin had mentioned that all he could do was watch. But then his hands rested against her skin and he began to perform the massage that she'd requested. Sighing softly and dropped her head and took a deep breath. "I fought him. All in the spirit of good competition though. We weren't trying to hurt each other. We fought with daggers first and then switched over to magic. Needless to say I haven't had a workout like that in a long time and I feel half dead from it right now, which means I have to get back into the physical realm of being able to fight consistently without wearing myself out. Getting fat and lazy won't keep me alive."

Zell's face bittered emediatly. "I don't care how much you think you know. And I will never claim to know all that there is. But to tell me that my pack and i could not survive on our own is not only an insult to me, but an insult to them and those we lost." Zell tapped his eye patch uncoinsously as he turned away.
"Get some rest Aella, it worries me when to see you like that."
He was tracing the outline of one of the sparrows on his scarf as he left.
