Well, as a DM of 21 years (Damn, I'm old crying ), I have learned that anyone wanting to play an aboleth, beholder, dragon, dragonborne, doppelganger, tiefling, or demon are either A) insane or B) munchkin-prone goits. Either way, there is usually no negotiating with their kind.

Well, there are multiple ways. One would be to have the entire party aquatic creatures and stick to the water. Another would be to run the campaign in the elemental plane of water. Another, which I have seen used for a variety of applications, is to use a chain cast levitation spell to create a floating body of water. So there are ways around the aquatic part. But when you have something completely disimilar from the rest of the party and that huge (his character was already 16 feet on the sheet), it just becomes not really cohesive. He said that he could control the others like a hive mind node, which I had to explain that lawful good paladins would probably get excommunicated for that and lose most of their gods-given clout. Maybe if the entire party was aboleths, we could have a weird, evil thing, but not this way. Hehe.

I am all for mixed alignments parties, I have been in them and DM'd for them. As long as it is not like all to either end of the spectrum, i.e.; 1 or 2 of each alignment or focused towards the center (NG, N, NE, CN, LN, and a lesser amount of LG, EG), it can work.

And as for half-trolls. I would allow that if it was accompanied with a good background to explain it if it was anything other than a troll/giant hybrid – Trolls are not exactly small and gentle.

Though I did once have someone ask to play a half-terrasque character. It had a 100+ page write-up on how, which actually was believable. But the problem was he picked half-human, which, given the terrasque cycle, would pretty much only allow an elf to be old enough to be magically merged with part of the terrasque since the last terrasque emergence was about 900 years prior.

It is not that I don't, it is that I am not ready to and most likely can't. However, I am still gearing up for it regardless. I still need to find the best way to apply AD&D rules to gaia's dice rolls without having to write an all new system, but I have an adventure I can run – a tale in five parts with an epic villain, princess to be rescued, and kingdoms (that's right, technically saving all the kingdoms on the continent) to save/protect/liberate. Player count estimate is 3 to 8 at this time, though I am leaning towards 5 or 6.

Yes, a great deal of our adventures revolved around dealing with trolls in innovative ways - including hanging a mirror over a volcano with a mirror passage spell permanently cast upon it and a series of vials of quicksilver/mercury. You would break the vial on the troll, he gets covered with mercury and teleported out of the mirror into the fiery magma of the volcano.

Yes, much to my detriment, my obligation to do such is winning out.

And yes, not all trolls are bad people. I once knew a frost troll who was quite a gentleman... if a bit of a lecherous womanizer... Wait... No, you're half-troll...

Though our party only had the one elf (myself), the others were 2 humans, a dwarf, a halfling, and a gnome.
