She never considered getting Jack down to 'her level' an actual thing. Part of her always wondered if she was subliminally standing on her tip toes (which in and of itself wouldn't actually help her at all because Jack and his heels..). "He's pretty nice. I bet you two would be really good friends."
Or so she hoped. She was actually rather grateful when Jack didn't ask about her quick-fix, as she wasn't even sure why that had been on her mind as of late. Maybe some early-not-quite-midlife crisis going on? That was possible. "Well, I'll be your family and that will be good. The family you choose is more important than the family you were born into."
That was the hardest lesson she'd had to learn. That wasn't to say that she didn't love her family, but...her family was more than the four kitsunes at home. "We can definitely have an adoptive-family-tea-party sometime, though. That would be very fun!"

“Ahh yeah but I don’t know what.” Maybe tango? It was really difficult to switch dances so quickly, and seeing as he was barely able to make his own feet go where he wanted he wasn’t sure how to teach her. “Here just follow my movements.” He let you of her waist and took her hands instead. “Just turn and…” He stepped on her foot. “Oops sorry.” He had to remind himself to not allow himself to get too hot. Deep breaths. Good. Jack this was awkward. Was anyone watching? He glanced around and then back to Olivia. He missed Efflo’s gaze as he was too busy being totally embarrassed. chirigami worst dance partner ever.

Olivia was at just as much of a lose, but at least Andrew the names of other dances. And didn't know some even had names to begin with, the waltz had started to make sense once she got the movements down as 'oh hey, that dance!'
Her motions stopped once he started to try to resituate her hands and lead her into another dance. That's when he stepped on her foot, which didn't hurt really given that she was an undead but it had scuffed her shoe and it was one of the very first instructions Mjoll had given her. "She said not to step on feet," she pouted. She would live, her pout would move on. It would move on to concentration as she fumbled and followed his own awkward steps leading it to more awkward steps and fumbling. It would grow into a fun happy smile though, because it was fun even though they had no idea what they were doing. Just had to get there, through the awkward fumbling.

Tilting his head a little, he wondered if it was even feasible, just going and adopting himself out to a family, kind of giving her a little hmm sound, barely legible in the music over head.
"It seems to be simpler than expected, just . . assuming the role of family - I have been told many times that blood is thicker than water but . . ." another pause, looking away for a moment, sighing softly. "That would be lovely. I suppose I could consider Remi family also - I have known him long enough and cherish him like a brother. Sparrow too, but he has family to attend too, and a lovely woman." He admitted, regaining his smile, before regarding her again.

"The blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb." Tomoko corrected Jack with a smile. "That's what that phrase is actually referring to." She felt kind of smart knowing that, to be honest - but she did have a little wisdom tucked away after almost fifty years.
"I have you, Remi, Erebus, Thackkun, Jove-kun, Seiji-kun, Junko-chan... Lots of family of my own choice." she smiled again.

“Yeah you aren’t supposed to….” She looked pouty, but not hurt. Not hurt was good. He hadn’t stepped down too hard anyway. “Here just grab on to my hand and we’ll turn till we get this right. Step out and then back to me.” He tried to lead her by her hand and get her to move the way he wanted in something more like the swing(or at least that's what he thought it was called). The song was fast paced and they were slow, but who cared? At least she was willing to get through his experiments until they got to something that at least felt a little more like dancing and less like scarelings playing in a sandbox. And she was smiling and once they got a little more into it, so was he even with all the bumps and missteps. At least he managed not to step on her feet again.

Jack had not known those statements, and kind of stared at her blankly like "Well then. . ." for a moment, before giving her a wide grin, shaking his head momentarily. "Smart girl." He murmured lightly, allowing it to slide. It would be easy for him to remember, since she just showed him up with it. Not that he minded.
"I suppose if you put it that way, I have you, and Remi, Frost, and Sparrow closest to my heart. I'm still a little jaded about people, I guess I should fix that, shouldn't I?" He asked her, feeling that this conversation was a little sobering. "I know of Jove, he's a sweet one. Fluffy and whatnot. I befriend many dogs, don't I?"

But he was proud of her. The fact that she was there at all, beautiful and radiant, and able to become a queen by the simple that that Belladonna was Belladonna, was something he wanted her to really and truly know.
And then the song shifted and Alex was over and he was being pulled to the dance floor, and he lost his romanticism. For now.
Now it was time to dance.
"S'about time we did this," Mort commented with a little smile, even if he felt silly as his hood bobbed up and down.

Meanwhile Shik was like so with Shaheen, regardless of whether it fit the song. It was the dance that he felt in his heart.

"I'd think not." She giggled, taking his hand in hers. "It's good that you've got the sleeping part down, though. I supposed my coffee doesn't help." She laughed after the words left her mouth. Mot without his coffee would be like a piggle without fat.

Shaheen had to admire how good Shik was at the dance of war, even if her own dance was making her whip her head around from side to side, hair falling in front of her eyes, and keeping her from seeing what he was doing. So she slowed it down a bit, and only then looked around at the others on the dance floor, who were for the most part dancing completely differently. Was she...doing it right???

"Only sometimes." she replied, crinkling her nose a little bit as she smiled all the more.
"You don't have to fix it if you don't want to. I think you're perfect the way you are...but I'm also biased." Tomoko added with a small laugh. "And Jove-kun is a great friend to have! He's loyal and friendly and a good listener and-" she rambled off several more things that she liked about Jove following that. "But I could say that about a lot of my chosen-family."

"A busy guy who can talk again!" Belladonna nearly shouted over the music at Alexander. The witch paused in her dance to jump up and down at the boil, flapping her hands in a most excited manner over the return of Alexander's abilities of speech. "So have you been talking all night or just recently? Did you have a good time with Yin? Was he ok with your lack of talking? Did he like your costume? Has everything been running smoothly?" Look, they had a lot of catching up to do! It had been a whole night and the witch hadn't gotten to chat with her zombie friend at all! But there was still a song to dance to, so she wiggled at Mort before she grabbed his hand. "Are you saying that you would like all of us to go dancing more?" She teased with another wiggle.

Bastion hoped that Olivia did not think this was a habit for him.. because he kept having to interrupt her while dancing. At least he wasn't stealing her partner, this time. "Miss?" He tapped on her shoulder again, and then bent down low from the waist. "I offer you my humblest apologies. After our dance, Mjoll felt .. unwell, and had to head home. Please, forgive me for breaking my promise. I feel absolutely distraught for it. Is there anything I can do to make it up to you?" Other than leaving her alone and/or no longer interrupting her night, that was.

Malodore chuckled and opened its wings again, folding them neatly in a rustle of flame-colored silk. "As you wish, mia cara - I know you will always return." As will I to you. It reached for her hand to lead her out, just for a moment.
