Kai smiled again as Hakaru shivered a couple times. Finally, her lungs felt like they were tearing apart, and she separated her lips from his, keeping them just centimeters away as she drew in long, shallow breaths. The tips of their noses touched, and Kai opened her eyes, searching Hakaru's face.

Hakaru tried to gulp down air as well, staying close to Kai as she gained her own breath. And, as if to mimic the mermaid, his eyes cracked open slightly and glanced to her, wanting to see her eyes.

Kai looked into Hakaru's eyes as he did to hers. She gently brushed her lips over his, not really kissing him, as he still looked at him. She wanted to say something, but she didn't want to ruin the moment at the same time.

Hakaru stared into Kai's eyes, studying them as those lovely eyes stared back into his green orbs. He could feel their lips brushing against each other and their breath mingling. Though he didn't want to say anything either, as not to ruin this moment. But he got one idea, planting a soft, loving kiss on her lips.

Kai kissed back, her eyes shutting. The kiss was soft and sweet, and she smiled. She didn't push the kiss this time, just letting Hakaru's sweetness be.

Hakaru held the kiss for a few more moments before breaking it for dire air. He panted softly, pulling her up next to him, resting his head on her shoulder, nuzzling her neck softly.

Kai reached up and stroked Hakaru's hair, smiling. She put her other arm around his shoulders, and rested her head on the top of his. There was a noise outside, like someone falling, and people started laughing. Kai ignored them, instead nuzzling the top of Hakaru's head.

Hakaru smiled softly, also ignoring the sounds of laughter. He started slipping into a relaxed sleep, his grip loosening as he started to drift deeper and deeper into sleep.

After a little bit, Kai realized Hakaru was a sleep. Carefully, she moved herself out of his loose grip, and gently pressed his shoulders, leaning him back against her pillow. She pulled the covers out from under him, and crawled up beside him, bringing the blanket with her. She rested her head on his chest and his arm over his stomach. She closed her eyes, as well, falling asleep.

Hakaru didn't stir much as Kai moved him and cuddled up beside him, tucking both of them in. He gently looped an arm around her shoulder, letting her listen to his soft heartbeat and be rocked by the gentle motion of his breathing and exhaling.

Kai sighed happily as Hakaru put an arm on her shoulder, and she opened her eyes, looking up at his sleeping face. She smiled and tilted her head back down, closing her eyes again.

After a while, the young prince was waking back up. He yawned a little and rubbed one of his eyes before looking down to find Kai sleeping on his chest. He smiled some and rubbed her shoulder, not moving as to let her sleep.

Kai was having a simple dream, one that consisted of nothing more than a strange tree that she wasn't familiar with, sitting in the sand of a beach she was familiar with. Underneath, she and Hakaru were sitting, just sitting, no words or food or books. She wasn't sure what was happening in the dream, but she liked the soft tranquility of it, and she smiled in her sleep.

Hakari laid there for some time, just holding the mermaid before he carefully maneuvered himself out from under Kai, slipping a large pillow into his place before stretching and going to the window. It was raining actually with made him sigh quietly. How he hated rain...

Kai slept for a little while longer, but after a bit she began to miss the heat that Hakaru had provided. She shifted a little against the pillow, and cracked her eyes open. It took her a moment to realize that Hakaru was standing by the window, and she slowly sat up, her long hair falling over half of her face as she tilted her head at the prince. "You look...bothered," she said softly, inspecting his expression as he stared out at the rain. She wasn't a fan of the rain, though she loved storms. Rain was bothersome for her, because if she went out in it, her tail would appear. It was a rather embarrassing idea, flopping around like a fish.
