We have a certain number of things in common, you and I. Neither of us would exist right now without your father - and have, some might say, as much cause to hate him for that as be grateful for it. *she lifts her drink for another sip*
Unless Heaven, or at least the Seraphim, can find a use for you, they will end you. You're going to need help if you're going to survive, and more than your father seems willing or able to provide.

*Alex frowned*
I don't believe for a moment that you have any wish to help me, if that's what you're saying. And even if you did, I don't want it and I don't need it. ******** Tavin, ******** The Seraphim, ******** Heaven, and ******** you.
*With that, Alex storms back to the bar and begins mixing up another batch*

*How did Tavin save their lives? Why would Heaven -end- them? Wasn't heaven supposed to help them out?? Why wouldn't Tavin help his own son? Why couldn't he? Luke wished he could stop the questions, but they just went on and on.*
*Luke finishes off the rest of the drink in one swig. He squeezed his eyes shut. Whew. Strong s**t.* Why does heaven want to kill us?

*Melliandra studies Luke thoughtfully* Well the motives vary, I suspect. You would probably be eliminated only if you get in the way. The same is likely true of most of the people who come here. A few mortal souls are expendable in the grand scheme of things, I would imagine.
Alex, here, well. He's the child of a fallen angel. It could well be his mere existence is considered an abomination against the will of God. And if not, well, maybe the Seraphim will kill him to get to Tavin. Or to punish him. There are any number of possibilities.
As for myself . . . as far as I know, they don't want to kill me, presently. *She smirks* But as both Tavin and the Seraphim are fond of reminding me . . . that can always change.

*Luke's face blanches. His throat's turned to dry glass.*
*He picks up his glass and goes over to the bar next to Alex. He fills it to the brim and drinks half of it.*
*He turns to Alex.* That's ******** up. What can we do about it?

Oh, I don't have all the answers. Far from it. But I intend to. *Melliandra polishes off the last of her drink, and just in time, as she begins to vanish* It's been an interesting encounter, gentlemen. *she smiles, and then she's gone*
**Exit Melliandra**

*Luke watches as Mel fades, no doubt to fix her own broken legs.*
*But he's not really thinking about that. He's thinking about everything he's learned in the past few minutes.*
Yeah.
*He finishes his second drink.*

Goddamn defense attorneys. They aren't getting this b*****d out....
... you know, it isn't even the GUN that's important. A crazy person can use a gun as easily as a sane one.

*Luke's staring forward. He only half hears Alex.*
*Though he answers, his mind is miles from the conversation.*
You need to prove he was planning it.
