Poppetta i've got an avie edit, isn't it lovely heart done by our own sweet ray of Sunshinne xd Ooooh I do like that!! I noticed it over in fun and games and saved a pic then. Great job Sunny! Wanted to share what I did yesterday. About 2 1/2 years ago I think, the basement of my parents house flooded with sewer water when one of the pipes got clogged by tree roots that found their way in over the years through a persistent and small leak in the pipes. My bags and bags of childhood stuffed animals were down there and quite a few of them got soaked. cry My dad laid them out in the backyard to dry, and they looked like casualties of a horrible massacre. When it happened, I wasn't able to deal with it at all. I couldn't even think about it, so I pushed them to the back of my mind. Finally yesterday (yeah after 2 1/2 years) I was prepared to deal with it, so I took Jade to my mom's (where Jenni and Ella already happened to be! Yay!) and started bagging them up. My dad had set them on shelves in the shed. Some of them had already fallen apart and their stuffing was everywhere. Black mold had grown on some of them and all of their fur was matted. Some of the mold ate away at some thin clothing fabric which crumbled and disintegrated when I picked it up. Some animals got thrown away, but most made it into one of 6 loads in the washing machine, and quite a few made it out the other side looking brand new! Several of them still need more washing or hand scrubbing, and 4 of them fell apart in the wash. Jade is thrilled to meet a lot of my childhood animals and learn their names. But she is also sad for the ones that have to go bye-bye, so we say farewell to Brownie, Cherry, Sandy, Gizmo, Pinwheel, Lemon Drop, Smokey, and Milkweed, but re-welcome the others into our house. (ROFL you must think I'm nuts. rofl )

oh no! not at all, i'd like you to meet Edward.. he was made for me for my first Christmas, so he will be 35 this year same as me, i have him and a dog that was made for i think my second birthday, and a little teddy(Little Ted!) that i used to have in my pram, but all my other dolls, stuffed toys i left at home when i moved out. my sister was horrible to them crying i had a beautiful doll, Jane, she was about the size of a large baby, lovely cap of blonde hair that i used to braid, big blue eyes with fabulous lashes, she 'slept' when you laid her down too, and you could put her thumb in her mouth, her head was on a ball and socket joint so she was very posable. my Nan knitted a set of clothes for her, and i loved her to bits, after being played with/looked after endlessly by myself for maybe 12 years she still looked brand new, then she gets given to my sister(without my consent!!) who proceeded to yank her eyelashes out and draw on her face in Biro gonk i was horrified when i saw what she'd done to her, but not being the person that i am today, i didn't have the nerve to say anything to my Mum about giving my sister my dolls without asking if she could mad

Eeeeek! That's horrible! I'd be heartbroken!! And extremely angry with my sister and my mom! I have a thing about people disrespecting other people's property, like letting a kid play with something and draw on it or otherwise ruin it. I'm often on Jade about messes and she's pretty good about knowing how to respect stuff, but she has this thing about kissing the wall or mirror or window with lipgloss on, and usually it comes right off with spray, but not this last lipgloss! I can't get it off! It just smears all over! (any suggestions?)
I'm glad you have your very first stuffed animal still! I showed Jade my very first stuffed animal yesteray, one of the survivors of 'the flood'.. a little puppy named Cupcake that a young boy gave to me from his collection when I was 4. (Wow! I didn't get stuffed animals until I was 4?! My parents must have been misers!) Incidentally, this same boy is the son of my recently-passed-away School Nurse I spoke of in the memorial thread.

my Mum wasn't a very nice person really, she shared a room with my sister, my sister is 11 years younger than me, but she wouldn't let her play in there, or downstairs where Mum was, she had to play in MY room. i'd come home from school and later on from work and find things everywhere, she'd go through my cupboards, she painted nail varnish onto my Little Ted crying but i managed to clip it off with scissors, and what dis my Mum have to say about all this...don't put things where she can reach them... neutral ...what was i supposed to do with my stuff? nail it to the ceiling?? evil
she'd also make her play in my room at the weekend when i was there, sat on my bed trying to read whilst my darling sister was playing 'war' and 'killing people' at the top of her voice mad

Poppetta and what dis my Mum have to say about all this...don't put things where she can reach them... neutral ...what was i supposed to do with my stuff? nail it to the ceiling?? evil Hmmm yeah, even Jade's pretty good at dragging over a chair or step stool and reaching high places.. neutral I'm sorry you didn't get your own room and your privacy and your own respect of property. That sucks. I had my own room after about age 3 or 4, but my similar noise complaint is when my parents would make me turn off my music like at 8pm when it was dark and my sister was wanting to go to sleep, but they wouldn't say a thing when Jenni would wake up early and sing at the top of her lungs in her room and wake ME up! They favored morning people over night people. scream I asked my dad about this inconsistency recently, and he agreed he did it because he felt EVERYONE should go to bed early and wake up early. rolleyes

MysticfawN but she has this thing about kissing the wall or mirror or window with lipgloss on, and usually it comes right off with spray, but not this last lipgloss! I can't get it off! It just smears all over! (any suggestions?) Try a vinegar solution. It should break down the fatty acids in the gloss and get rid of it. smile Alternatively fruit juice. Like orange or Lemon or Lime. Not out of the carton but out of the actual fruit itself. Again, the acid in the fruit will break down the grease in the gloss. biggrin

MysticfawN My fingernails are pink and sparkly! 3nodding Barbie Fairtytopia Nail Polish! 4laugh It was fun while it lasted.. but the downside is that this nail polish was water soluble, and when I went to rinse a dish, my nails got all sticky/slimy and the polish started to come off. neutral Ah well, less of a mess that way if Jade spills it!
