"That sounds useful," Jóna commented, reaching across the table to prod the kitten. It toppled over at her nudge. "I should hope it would grow bigger. Doesn't seem very intimidating right now..."

Like the flowers and trees, she didn't doubt Lance's ability. He didn't seem to have a problem with any of the other living things he commanded. She gazed around at all of the chances he implemented. The lush garden atmosphere was so...different. She wasn't sure she quite liked it.

Gently Riasha put the kitten down. With a sound of delight, she plucked some of the flowers and put them in her hair too. Smiling to herself, she does a little spin, though the execution is somewhat hampered by her clothes. Sighing, she shakes her head. "I'm not even sure any of the magic would carry over; I don't know how I ended up here, and I don't know how things will be when I return. Or even if I can return."

"Perhaps I could show you?" Lance asked Jona.

He propped the kitten back up, and Dahlia scampered after Riasha joyfully. Lance smiled as the kitten climbed up Riasha to swat at her flowers.

"Who knows if it would carry over," he said. "I think it's worth the try."

"My people have legends about this place," Jóna said, wiping steak juices off her knife before stowing it. "They said that whoever enters it may only exit into their own world where they came from. I'm not sure if they specify whether you can bring objects with you. I'm curious to see if this comes with me," she said, motioning to the necklace Lance made for her.

"It seems like neither of us will be able to find out," Riasha said to Jóna a bit sadly. "Which is too bad; I don't want you to die, and I know I don't want to die," she says. "Though the woman who is turning me over hinted that something worse than death might happen." She shivers. Then she shakes her head and executes another twirl; this time it's a bit better.

"It's really up to you what you do with the kitten," she said to Lance. "Either it will work, or it won't, but if it's unlikely for her to come into my world with me, then it may be kindest to just let her live her life naturally."

Lance sighed and focused on Riasha's hair. He thought if she had more of it, she could put more flowers in it. He turned his hands over, and his tattoos lit a little. Her hair grew out rapidly, and he stopped it before it reached the ground. Carefully, he used his magic to braid her hair with the white roses.

"Lovely," he said, smiling.

Dahlia cuddled up to Riasha, her little eyes opening and closing as she yawned. Stretching out, she rolled on her back, purring.

Watching Lance completely alter Riasha's hair stunned her. She quickly reached up to clutch her short, curly locks. "Don't you even dare," she warned. Besides, she would just have to cut it all off immediately. The only elves allowed to wear their hair long were those who had already reached the black.

She did vaguely wonder if Lance was putting all of this attention on the other girl because he hoped to seduce her. She had always been a bit daft to human courtship intricacies, not that she had a lot of experience with them. She sat back to watch, curiosity suddenly piqued. Was he flirting with the naive little girl?

"No," Lance said simply.

His plan was to leave her hair alone. That knife however... His tattoos glowed as the knife flew from its sheath, and floated above the table, hovering blade down. From the top, he encrusted it with gems that sparkled in the light. For the blade itself, he lined it in thick diamond, strong enough to cut through anything.

"I don't feel as though either of you deserve death."

The knife hit the table with a light thud. It pulsed a golden glow twice before the blade turned to a solid black color.

Jóna made a noise of protest when Lance abducted her knife and began altering it. Her noise of protest turned into a half shriek as gems sprouted on the handle and the blade itself seemed to alter. "Stop!" she cried, snatching for it, but it was out of reach.

Swiveling her burning gaze to Lance, she slammed both palms on the table and rose out of her seat. "Why did you do that? I didn't give you permission to do that! That was my best knife! Look at the handle!" She threw an arm out at the gaudy, ugly gemstones. "What do you take me for? Some prancing fop? I can't wield some arse-ugly, glittery piece of crap!" she ranted, genuinely incised.

The thing was hideous. It glittered all sorts of colors, catching the light. She gaped at it in disbelief.

The young woman twitched slightly at the odd sensation of having her hair grow back. Reaching back to feel the long locks, her eyes shine with delight. Then, just to be sure she wasn't daft, she pulls her long plait forward. Laughing softly she pats the braid with fondness as though it were an old friend. If the thought crossed her mind that he might be flirting with her, it didn't show. Moving a bit more into the center, she does several more dance steps; the movements whimsical, though still a bit on the awkward side. "It's harder without the right shoes, or clothes, or music," she finally says, sitting down and sighing. Then she furrows her brows for a moment. "When do you think someone does deserve to die?" she asks Lance.

And then Jóna has a fit about the knife. "I'm sure he meant well," she says reproachfully to the elf. "You probably could have just asked him to change it back, or to make it less sparkly." She didn't point out that in her culture a knife like that could be sold, bit by bit, to feed a whole troupe for some time.

Lance shrugged as he picked up the knife. Holding it against his arm, he pushed down on the gems as he pressed it into his flesh. The knife was glowing as fire, ice, and electricity crackled with the cut, freezing and burning and shocking his arm. He muffled a noise of pain as his minimal effort cut through his bone.

He showed her the wound, set the knife back down, and healed his arm. The bone snapped back together, and the gash sealed up, leaving a dark, pink scar.

"But if you feel it's too goudy, I suppose I understand."

He looked at Riasha, intrigued. "And what kinds of things would be best?" His tone was softer and more cheerful.

He paused and said, "Sometimes people will try to hurt me or my loved ones. Generally, I don't hold back if they try to kill them."

His mind once again traveled back to Genevieve and her stone cold cadaver. She must be rotting by now. He blinked the sadness out of his eyes and cleared his throat.

Jóna shot a glare toward Riasha. "He could have probably asked me first before ruining my best knife! Look, I get that he gets you wet because he gives you flowers and hair and crap, but mind your own godsbedamned business," she snapped, still on her feet.

She didn't even watch the demonstration, instead watching his eyes. "Don't ever touch my things without my permission. Take it with you when you leave." She shoved the knife toward him on the table, throwing off the necklace and bouncing it across the table after it.

Her best knife. The knife she made. Smithing tools were so difficult to find and she practically had to beg one of the few smiths they had to teach her. Weapons were either picked off of bodies or refashioned from old weapons. Hers had been of her own creation, a few knife, something rarely ever seen. The ore it came from was the last that had even been brought into the swamp in the last thirty years.

And now it was ruined.

Still furious, she left the table and went for the counter, just for something to do. She started scanning at the unfamiliar selections of the menu, blinking rapidly.

Lance frantically grabbed the knife; that wasn't the reaction he was expecting. All he had tried to do was give her a way to get past that snake if she got into trouble! How did that make him a bad person?

He shook with upset and rage, the knife almost dropping between his fingers. Tattoos glowed, and the additions Lance had made rapidly disappeared. The knife, returned to its former state, found its way back into Jóna's sheath.

He sat back and crossed his arms in irritation.

Riasha looks properly chastized by Jóna's words. It really wasn't her business, but she just didn't like to see her being rude. Then again, perhaps it was overstepping his bounds when Lance changed the knife in the first place. She purses her lips together. "I'm sorry," she says. "You're right that he probably could have asked first," she conceedes. "But if he can make it that way, he can probably undo it if that is what you want..." And then he does just that. "See," she adds meekly.

Walking over to Lance, she pats his shoulder. "I know you meant well." Then she tries to change the subject by answering his question. "Well, usually the skirt part isn't as long; it goes down to about here," and she gestures to the middle of her shin. "I usually wear white with silver accents because it looks good in the night when I usually perform. They even put bluing powder in the fire so that it reflects nicely," she says, her voice growing a little distant as she recalls the details of her life when it was so much simpler...and safer. "The other women usually wear very bright colors."

Shoulders knotted, Jóna didn't quite trust the knife. Was it the same one as before, or did it merely look the same? She swiped it out of its sheath and began checking it. Weight. Length. Sharpness. Blade flexibility. It seemed like how it had been, but that didn't ease her anger by much. Shoving it away on her thigh she curled her lip over at the human girl as she retracted away from her statements like a whipped slave.

"Oh, grow a spine," she sneered, once again sulking away form the two of them.

The dress she described sounded about as ugly as the knife had been. She touched its hilt, just to be sure it hadn't sprouted rubies again.
