rilsin-b pirhan I got a cold and an ear infection. Awesome. emotion_awesome I exchanged my bird feeder for a new one which is squirrel and jay proof - just for the little birds! I also bought a $2 plant. It had no pot, just sitting there on the shelf in a little bit soil with its roots all out. Home now, potted and watered. Oh what is that? They kinda look like bay leaves. :3 I think it's a lucky bean plant, or Castanospermum australe. It's annoying as most indoor tropical plants are labelled just that - "indoor tropical". The plant is nice and healthy and sitting on my desk at work. :3

A new year! Happy New Year everyone.
A good start off to the new year I think. One of my coworkers is being moved to a new department, so that means there will less gossiping, more quiet, and more work done.
I've been given a few more extra tasks to do in the morning from now on to take on her job now that she is leaving, which isn't too much of a pain. And the director has suggested that I help her edit a standard operating procedure document, which to me is a great opportunity!
Went to Manhattan yesterday to visit a ton of wholesale stores to help my mom pick out things for the card-gift shop. Oh the things she could have picked out and gave me more a headache to deal with. I think I saved the store from a mountain of "-annoying kissing sound and robotic: I love you! I love you! I love you!" and seizure inducing flashing lights.

Oriole Lyric A good start off to the new year I think. One of my coworkers is being moved to a new department, so that means there will less gossiping, more quiet, and more work done. That's great! It's always annoying when you have that one coworker. Glad that she will be out of your hair! I had a real crappy start to my week. The morning started off okay - even though the snow I had to shovel was thick and heavy. When we went to get going to work, we had a chunk come off the roof and block the door. I wanted to take a picture but the boyfriend was being dumb about it, so I didn't get a picture. I'm annoyed because our friend/roommate-that-doesn't-pay-rent-and-eats-our-food probably won't shovel at all to help us out. She parked really close to our car so it was hard to get in. I then get to work and start shoveling the perimeter and this guy comes in asking if I know the RCMP's phone number. He had stuff stolen from his truck. We went through the security cams and saw the probable person. The constable came and we went through the tapes again. It's really tedious to go through the tapes, but whatever. The system we have is really old and I have no idea how to get the footage on to something the constable can take. I wish they'd just throw that system out and use the other one we have which you can easily save and play and search. Then the plow came and did a really bad job. It didn't scrape down to the asphalt but instead compacted the snow. Now it's super slippery and I can't get at it with the shovel because it's compacted too much. That put me in a really bad mood because I like to keep it clear. Now All my parking spots and walkways have patches (sizes of small cars) of compact snow which is slippery and will turn to ice once it cools down. Oh, and while the constable and I were playing through the tapes, this woman was here yelling at her movers and carrying on. Goodness gracious, shut up or take your conversation outside. No one wants to hear that. She gave them her wrong phone number so they couldn't call to let her know that they'd be late and she got upset at them. And I totally crave chocolate and I have none.

♥ Recently I made a jewellery box out of an old hardcover novel and topped it off with some faux flowers. I'm hoping to make a few more and sell them down at the local craft store.

OMG I LOVE IT. emotion_kirakira -- I wrote my English exam today. I feel confident on the grammar and second essay but I feel like I failed miserably on the second essay. It's hard to write stuff when you can reference the materials you're writing about! I've now just signed up to a math course. It's a 0 credit one because I haven't taken math in a really long time and the credited courses require algebra/physics/calculus experience... in which I have zippo.

Sweet, thanks! My exam went okay... I think I did good on the one essay (35 marks) but poorly on the second essay (55 marks). I had to read twelve short stories and one novel during the course and the two essays where asking for comparisons on chosen stories/novel. It was really difficult to write without having the stories to reference. I don't like running around in circles writing the same thing over and over again using different words. Anyways, I'm glad it's over. I got my next course - math, which is good. I went to Portland. It was foggy the entire time. We were ill prepared but it was still fun. I really enjoyed the Japanese garden, I went to some amazing thrift stores and my boyfriend got a roof rack for the car. If you want to see pictures: http://www.flickr.com/photos/pirhan/ Japanese garden first page and then the car pictures are on the second page. This weekend I did yoga, went for a nice long walk and then another work out. Still a bit sore. sweatdrop I have areas I want to work on and they're sore, so I guess that's good.

♥ Oh that's great! Better than what I'll do this year in mine I'm sure. I'm just going to have to concentrate and avoid all distractions. And beautiful photos! I love how detailed yet simplistic it is. Much prettier than the gardens I went to years ago.

It was the second Japanese garden I have been too. I don't have much to compare to. Other gardens I've been to are Van Dusen, Minter and whatever is around Stanley Park. I really liked the Minter gardens as it was sprawling and had tonnes of different areas. Stanley Park has the typical tulips, tulips, tulips, which are nice, but really vanilla. The nice thing about the Japanese Garden is that, even though nothing was in bloom, it was still alive and beautiful. (Plus they had a rule of no cell phones and no screaming children.) Last week I found a mother in my kombucha tea. I love kombucha but haven't tried making it on my own. I read that you shouldn't refrigerate your mother, but I thought, what the heck. I made up some tea and poured the mother from my store bought kombucha into a new brew and she's under the bed. I peeked and no mold, so maybe I'll have something viable. I found another mother in another bottle of store bought kombucha, so I'm going to try another batch. This one will be lemon grass; the other was jasmine tea. Exciting stuff.

My cat kept chattering his jaw last night so I looked in his mouth and his gum was all inflamed. The vet says that they'll have to do another full mouth x-ray and possibly pull the tooth because the root may be re-absorbed which means the tooth is just floating there. He is already missing a tooth and the tooth above that pulled tooth is being all weird so they'll take a look at that too. It's be a very long and very annoying week. I've been Little Miss Angry since Monday. Part of my job is contacting customers about late payments. I'm sick and tired of the same song and dance each time. It's not like their monthly payment would be a surprise. I send out invoices and then I send out a reminder and then another reminder, sometimes I call and they're always like "I didn't know I had a payment and/or what's this late fee?" You've been paying the same amount each month for half a year, why is this suddenly new?

We need snow. gonk
It's been +5C or so the last few weeks so there's barely any snow here. I actually chopped up all the ice from the road at work (and killing my back in the process).
I finally sat down and took an afternoon to catalogue my seed stash. I have over 200 packets of various seeds. I also found out that a few of my seeds started to sprout so I bought some soil today and will be scrounging around for pots tomorrow to plant them. I'm super excited about spring this year. I hope I'm organized enough to have all my big glorious plans followed through this year.
I was downstairs last night playing a video game and some raccoons came up to the door. My cat went crazy at them. They're very adorable. I left a few nuts out for them tonight. (Yea, I know you're not suppose to feed them, but I feed the squirrels and it's winter. They're on their own in the summer.)

The cat had to go in and get another tooth removed. The root had reabsorbed into his jaw so the top part of the tooth was just hanging around. We had to take him in twice because the first time they let him stew in his cage too long so he wasn't having anyone touch him to sedate him for surgery. He's all good now though.
A new organic store opened up. It's very lovely and extremely competitive. Most of the food is from nearby towns or BC/Washington. There's always someone in there, so I hope they are doing well.
I saw my friend's girlfriend at the grocery store. This would be the second time I've met her and she's a lot of fun. She likes gardening and other frou-frou things so we get a long well. :B
I bought some scrumptious banana truffle ice cream. It's delish. I've been a little piggy with chocolate and other decadent things lately. I've been a bit overwhelmed/frustrated the last few weeks so the chocolate goes fast.

I've never been a fan of geraniums. But I'm thinking of trying to grow some this year since my mother seems to like them. Any one have any tips of growing them? I've never been very lucky with growing them outdoors or indoors.
