You dont have to rp for custom skills.
The main reason why one needs to rp for normal jutsu is because unlike jutsu that you create, normal jutsu may be obtained despite your overall level. There for, some of them obviously should be difficult to learn. However I will consider your suggestion of allowing half the lines spent to be used towards stats.

I'm just not seeing it. I get the prospect of trying to limit it so that you're not getting the jutsu for practically free ontop of lines, but at the same time it makes absolutely no sense. When you train to learn a jutsu, it's training. You're improving yourself physically to manage a new jutsu. So to say no one gains any experience for role playing to get the custom makes no sense. I say it has to be role played and theres a set number of lines/etc that have to be done before acquiring, but the players still keep any experience earned.

Those were my thoughts about the first NFS's jutsu training process. I must've typed over 30,000 lines just learning jutsu that would've been better distributed to my stats. So imagine the horror I felt when Ele said it would be that all over again.

Then imagine my joy that he is at least considering allowing half of the lines to be assigned to exp.

To be honest, I'd be ecstatic if we got full exp for the jutsu (but still had to type out jutsu level x 4 to learn it), but I can, as I said before, settle for half lines.

I don't know if I could honestly write 240 lines worth of experience over learning one lv80 normal jutsu. Especially if we aren't getting experience for it. That'd be a HUGE turn off entirely.

If you are turned off by a 240 line count, NFS1 was not the place for you. I soloed over 300 lines just to master Shari.

I'm turned off by 240 lines about learning a single technique. I've written 200 lined posts before, but they spanned traveling through an entire country, not the training process of a jutsu. NFS1 was indeed not the place for me, but this is indeed no longer the era for NFS1. There are plenty of nice things to bring back, but writing 240 lines for lv80 jutsu when that's a rather early on level technique at the rate of player growth, I'd be turned off not getting any experience. I mean. If we've got to write that many lines for just one thing and don't get experience, it's gonna get old and die quick. xD

Haha, that's nothing. I had to type 800 lines (alone cuz everyone was in the chuunin exams...) to learn the Curse Seal - Orochimaru skill cuz it was a forbidden jutsu.

Nice. I've had to write a lot of lines, but never that much limited to a single specific topic.

I dunno... NFS1 lasted for 5 years, and it had the Lines = Jutsu level x 4 for the entire duration.

Haha, yeah, 800 lines now would net me 3200 exp, 4800 with a team bonus.

Meaning that despite it's run, it couldn't beat time and died out. This NFS has a handful of players, but after the revamp and the recruiting event I'm hoping to see many more players. The guilds no fun with all 5 nations as your map and only like 10 active players really do anything.
