Chloe entered back into the ranger's station at the beginning of the Safari Zone. The attendant from before smiled, "Welcome back, did you get a good haul?" she asked.
"Uh... I got some new partners, if that's what you mean?" Chloe questioned. Referring to Pokemon as a "haul" made it seem like she was a game hunter or something. It just didn't sound right...
"Oh, that's what I meant," the attendant nodded waving her hand dismissively, "I see you caught a Scyther and Rhyhorn, impressive."
"Yeah, I would have liked to catch a Nidorino and Kangaskan, but I couldn't seem to find one," Chloe admitted, "But I'm just glad the Scyther and Rhyhorn agreed to fight alongside me."
The attendant gave her an odd look.
"I mean I didn't throw rocks or anything like you suggested. No offense, but that sounds wrong. Not to mention stupid when it comes to Rhyhorn... And I gave all my bait to a Togepi that kept following me around."
"Oh, speaking of following me around, do you know you have one strange Lickitung in there?" Chloe stated, "I ran into him at least three times. He just wouldn't leave me alone!"
Now the attendant was just dumbfounded, so Chloe decided to take her leave, "Could I have my Pokemon back, please?" she requested, as the attendant retrieved her Pokeballs.
Once she had gotten them all back, Chloe clipped them back to her belt, making her way outside. She summoned Lilie before her, prepared to head back to the gym when she spotted something a bit different.
"Uh... Lilie?" she asked the Bayleef.

"Leaf?" Lilie questioned, before halting dead still, eyes widening. She looked down at herself, as Chloe looked her over as well.
"Don't tell me you evolved while I was in there?!" Chloe squeaked, discovering the fact about the same time Lilie did.
"I'm sorry I missed it!" Chloe continued, "You look awesome, by the way!"
"Bay!" Lilie grinned, prancing about a bit. She had to admit, being a bit bigger was definitely more fun. She was a bit bummed about not being able to be carried by Chloe anymore, but there were plenty of good things about evolving that outweighed that little fact.
"So what do you say we head back and see how Julian's gym battle is doing?" Chloe smiled, as the Bayleaf grinned.
And so the two started heading south, towards the gym.

Chloe and Lilie entered the gym a little while later, Chloe opting to recall Lilie due to all the poison in the air. She didn't think Lilie would enjoy being in there too much.
Chloe stepped forward, spotting Julian facing off against Janine in the arena. However, Chloe hit something solid with a thunk, running straight into an invisible wall. Muttering under her breath for not remembering the layout of the place, Chloe settled to watch the battle from behind the wall.

Chloe had been about to shout out her congrats to Julian for winning the match, and recount her adventure in the Safari Zone, but she had paused, seeing the pain on Julian's face. That worried her, Brayden had told her about when he and the others were in Lilycove and he made the mistake of jumping into the ocean while having Vulpix DNA. She had only a brief moment to wonder if it was the same kind of effect. Due to Julian's DNA being melded with an Arbok.
Just that moment to contemplate it, however, as Julian fell to the ground. Chloe couldn't help the cry as she saw him fall, rushing forward and running into that same stupid wall as before. Not giving any time to work out the puzzle of the gym, Chloe summoned Lantis, ordering the Latios to break down the barriers of the gym. The dragon was a bit concerned, seeing Chloe panicked was not a common thing, but did as he was told, hoping the owner of this place wouldn't mind his interference.
A thought, and the invisible barriers shattered, as Chloe hopped over one of the remnants of the walls, Latios following a hair's breadth behind her as she came to the arena.
"Julian?" Chloe called, kneeling by the boy, "Julian?!" She noticed that he was unconscious, not a hard assumption to make since she didn't see any reaction to her calling out for him.
Lantis hovered warily behind Chloe, a bit nervous, but not wanting to return to his Pokeball. Chloe turned to the Latios, "Can you help me get him to the Pokecenter?" she asked hurriedly.
Lantis nodded, "Of course," he conveyed mentally to Chloe, concentrating for a moment, helping Chloe lift Julian up, using his mental powers to lighten the load a bit so Chloe could safely carry Julian without much difficulty. She got Julian up onto Lantis' back after a moment, as she hurried out of the gym, Lantis following along behind her.
It took Chloe a panicked moment for her to get her bearings and locate the Pokecenter, only to discover it a few doors down from the gym.
She burst through the automatic doors a moment later, startling several of the staff, before realizing that Lantis wouldn't be able to fit through the doorway. Scurrying back outside, she returned with Julian in tow, Lantis once again using his psychic powers to help make up for her lack of strength.
"Nurse JOY!" she called out for a staff member.

Julian opened his eyes dazedly. Every muscle in his body hurt and it was that pain that finally brought him back around. he felt Chloe beside him and looked up at her and smiled weakly. "Hey there, how was the Safari one?" He asked in an almost inaudible voice.
He looked around without turning his head and noticed where he was. "Good idea Chloe, Thanks for bringing me here to heal my pokemon." he mumbled and fumbled with his belt, only managing to knock the pokeballs off and send out all his pokemon. "Damnit, my hands don't wanna work." He said agitated, though it cam out as an incomprehensible sound. After a few more seconds he fell unconscious again.
Ookami was awake again and she carefully nudged Julian onto her back so that Chloe wasn't burdened with him anymore.
Hizashi turned to Chloe, a reassuring ook on his face, though he was badly battered himself. 'He'll be okay, our pain was just too much for his body to handle.' He told her mentally, his mental voice weary.

"Stupid, I didn't bring you here to get your Pokemon healed, you frickin' collapsed right in the middle of the gym!" Chloe squeaked, more than a bit upset.
"That's not normal, what in the world happened to you?" Chloe asked. She was able to fit together that he felt the pain that his Pokemon did during a battle, but was baffled as to the cause.
"Its not because of that sword, is it?" she questioned.
Chloe heared Hizashi's comment, shaking her head, "I still don't see how you think he'll be fine. I mean if this happens every time he'll battle, I don't want to see that happen," she harumphed.
Lantis, seeing that Julian's Pokemon were able to take it from here, returned to his Pokeball to keep out of the way. Upset Chloe was scary he decided.
