Naiiko had finished off the metal training dummy. Looking back at Fatal, he seemed to be impressed with her skill set. But that was to be expected. Out of a whole village of ninja-trained warriors, Naiiko was by far the strongest. There was only one other that could keep up with her, even defeat her in training. But she had passed some time ago.
Fatal seemed to have more training planned for himself. Naiiko didn't mind engaging, or even watching him perform. She was always looking for new ways to hone her skills and be physically ready for anything. Even if she just watched Fatal, she'd be able to pick out key factors of his sword style and apply them to herself.
It was then that they were joined by another woman named Analiese. She was... different from Fatal. So much so that it was hard to imagine such a serious and focused guy hanging out with a loose cannon like her.
The ninja just stood there and watched them go back and forth.
She's....interesting, she said internally.
Whatever her personality might be, Naiiko had to admit that she was good with a gun. Upon being asked to shoot Fatal, she quickly whipped out her pistol and fired without any hesitation. Had it been anyone other than Fatal, she would have killed someone.
But Fatal was no slouch either. He quickly unsheathed his katana and cut the bullet in half. That was a feat that couldn't be performed by just anyone. She was starting to become impressed by just how skilled Fatal was.
Letting the "VIB" comment go, Naiiko turned to Fatal and responded to his question.
"I have no problems with training my reflexes," she said. "However, I don't think I'm fast enough to cut through bullets. I'd much rather dodge them instead."
"If you wish to see what I mean, I'll show you."
She walked a ways away from Fatal and Analiese. She placed a hand on her sheathed blade and formed a sign with her other. She took a deep breath, letting the air inflate her lungs before releasing it all back.
"Whenever you're ready. Just keep pulling the trigger."

"Ehhh." Analiese groaned. "Yes, yes; so bossy. Don't wager Fatal is that special." "You intend to tell her?" Fatal asked. "I think she gets it. It's not much fun faking it, is it, Fatal?" "What?"
Analiese had no idea what she was talking about either. She tossed her pistol in the air, took out a handgun from another leg holster, and caught her pistol with the other hand. Holding both guns up, she pointed them at Naiiko.
"Uhhh, what, the muzzle velocity of a handgun can be around 1000? 1200? And the speed of sound is less than that? So Fatal couldn't deflect a real gun. He's pretty human." The handgun was dropped and kicked off to the side. Now holding the pistol and continuing to point it at Naiiko, Analiese went on speaking. "I modified this Beretta 92 to be a, well...fish. It's almost a plaything. I have a few others like it. Oh! And I always load them with tranquilizers! You know the rules! Get hit and you're ********! Uh, Miss Naiiko, I'll shoot seven at you. Avoid them, if you don't mind."
The sound of seven bullets in quick succession went off. The seamless way Analiese shot them after speaking could have been distracting. She didn't divulge anything else about her tactics. There could always be the chance the bullets were quite real, as well.
Fatal stood off to the side, observing. He would let this play out. Naiiko must've felt the danger go down substantially upon hearing the reality of the situation. How she used it was her decision. An hour was closing in. Fatal suspected ending this training session soon. His mind had partially started thinking of what he would do afterwards, anyways...

Shelby lowered her submachine gun as William spoke to her. She thought it rude to continue with target practice while being spoken too, the noise would make conversation abrupt and disjointed. Placing the weapon on the table, she walked to William's stall, making sure to stay behind the red safety line painted on the floor. She crossed her arms and beamed at the young elite, looking like she had not a care in the world. "I'm fine William, thanks for asking. I apologize again for the outburst. I shouldn't have taken things so... personally." The doctor gave a carefree shrug, it was something she didn't allow herself to think on too long. "Anyway, how are you holding up? Given the events I guess we all need to find ways to distract ourselves."
She quietly observed her surroundings, keeping mental tabs on which weapons were firing, who was firing them and occasionally glancing down the range to judge their marksmanship. It was a game she played in order to maintain focus and awareness on all her surroundings. This was not necessarily and easy thing to accomplish, but she would do this whenever she could.

William's pistols were holstered as he continued his conversation with Shelby. He was relieved to learn that she was doing better now that the moment of her past had wavered. She seemed back to her usual self again, as far as he could tell anyway. She then asked how he was doing, seeing as they all just had a front row seat to the execution of a comrade. The ranger's eyes grew somber as he looked down in thought.
"I have had better days, that's for sure." he said. "My heart goes out to Ryder, of course. No one needs to experience losing someone like that...it's inhumane..."
He took a deep breath and looked back up at Shelby with renewed determination.
"But it also shows me that I haven't been performing with all I've got. Next time I'm out in the field, I'll make sure those bastards pay for Russell's death and all the other deaths up til' now. We haven't lost this fight yet." ------------ While Naiiko didn't mean to ignore Analiese, her words didn't reach the ninja's ears. Her body was deep in complete meditation. She concentrated her mind one thing: Dodge the incoming bullets. Her senses were beginning to rise and her muscles shifted into position. This was her Absolute Focus.
As the bullets rang out of the barrel, her eyes opened and her muscles fired all at once. She weaved passed the bullets as they flew at her. To Naiiko, the bullets barely had any speed to them. But outside her body, she was a brilliant pink flash that was moving faster than the bullets. Before the girl realized it, her blade was drawn and rested on Analiese's neck. All at once, she reigned in her focus and stopped her body from going any further, causing the sword to tremble furiously. Once her body had caught up with her, she dropped to her knees. The sword clattering to the ground. She sat on the ground, breathing heavily to calm herself. It was as if she had been deep in the ocean and suddenly realized that she couldn't swim. Mastering this state of focus is what made Naiiko such a deadly asset to the Noe.

The young assassin let everything Colleen said sink in as she tried to stop crying, her arms around the older woman. The hug was comforting but made her miss her family even more, which made her cry more and she hated it. Soon, though and the tears began to slow, but still not stopping completely. Sami then slowly nodded, understanding the explanation. She sniffled lightly, wiping her eyes “It makes sense… But, still isn’t fair, having one so young losing everything.. Or everyone losing everything over greed. It’s not right.”

*The blonde woman just held the young assassin as she continued to cry. Everyone had a break in confidence once in a while but they haven't lost anyone to lack of faith just yet. Once the other settled down a bit more and the younger female was able to speak, only then did Colleen replay.* Colleen - Life is never fair but you are correct. It isn't right, yet at the same time would we have had such a strong mind in Ryder. It is both a tragedy and blessing...there is no "give" without some sort of "take". We are fighting a war of balance...a war that may never end. We have to be prepared for that. *It wasn't too long after that, that the computer beside the two began beeping. There was apparently and incoming message. Keeping a hold on Sami, Colleen reached over to the monitor. Hitting a few buttons cause the woman to laugh lightly.* Colleen - Well, well...speak of the devil and she shall appear. *Hitting the print button, the message was printed off and ready for delivery when the time came. Not that she would push the matter but once they were done here she had to deliver it. Well either her or Sami.* Colleen - That was a nice surprise. Yet, it can wait till we are done here. Sami, care to take this to James when the time comes, it is from Ryder. Only if you want to of course.

Sami nodded. She felt embarrassed yet comforted as Colleen kept her in a hug. The assassin chuckled at Ryder being called a devil. Once the letter was printed and Colleen asked if she would deliver it to James, Sami nodded, but she kept talking to the older woman, wanting to give the sniper some more time to cool down.

*The elder woman picked up her coffee cup once more, Sami was offering her more company and it was welcome. The woman had too much to do normally, chatting with a colleague was a nice change of pace...but what to discuss next? There was so much they could talk about concerning work but that was just boring...there had to be something else. After all...gossip floated around the base like sticks in a lake. Sipping at the contents of her cup, the blonde woman continued to think till a subject that came to mind. One that the assassin may not have been aware of...but seeing as she now had a good deal of time on her hands...Sami may as well take advantage of such a thing. It may help the grieving process after all. After swallowing her drink Colleen smiled lightly before asking the blue haired female something rather important...well it would be in a few moments.* Colleen - So would you like to hear what I have heard through the grape vine?

Sami tilted her head at the question. She has never heard that phrase before but going by the context, she guessed the woman meant rumors or gossip. The young assassin then nodded before taking a sip of her hot cocoa that was quickly cooling down. “Yeah, sure.”

*The elder woman kept that same smile on her face as she appeared to relax back into her chair. Seems Sami was a little distracted after all. The poor assassin was so busy with her projects for the Noe, be it personal projects that would help her help the Noe or her assigned missions, that she didn't seem to pick up certain things. Hopefully, this wouldn't come off as too much of a surprise but who knows now-a-days. Choosing her words carefully the blonde haired business woman finally had what she needed to finish up her thought.* Colleen - Well, I have heard that a young gentleman on the base has a taken a fancy to you. Young William Sinclair as it were.

Sami’s face turn bright red and she dropped her head to try to hide it at the news. The girl did notice the glances William threw her way, but didn’t pay much attention. Not that she was oblivious or didn’t like him. Sami actually thought the boy was cute and sweet. She just had to keep herself distracted or else her mind starts thinking of the past and that was a bad thing. If only she could flip the switch sort to speak like she does on missions. “I-is that so?” Sami fidgeted in her seat, silently scolding herself for getting flustered as she tried regaining her composure. Not like she had it to begin with since the meeting.

After finishing his rounds at the Shooting Range, William returned to the Lounge in order to unwind and relax. He sat at the bar and ordered some sweet tea and a sandwich. While waiting on his order, he looked to his left and saw that Naiiko was there as well. "Ah, hello Ms. Inari." he said. "Fancy meeting you here." "Hello, William," she responded after taking a sip of her coffee. "How's everything?" "I'm doing well. Just got done with taking some shots at the range. My marksmanship continues to improve day by day." "I see." she said. "I'm glad to hear you're making progress. I myself just finished up some training with Fatal. Improvement has been going steady for me as well." "Great great," William said. The two Noe operatives exchanged grins before sitting in silence at the bar. This seemed to last forever until the ranger excused himself. "I'll be right back, Ms. Inari." He crossed the room to the grand piano and took a seat. After cracking his hands, his fingers began to glide across the ivory keys and a melody soon filled the air of the Lounge. *Smiling in a near motherly type way, Colleen nodded. She wanted what was best for her little family. So they had to find some comfort in what they could, especially in each other. The trust between people was something that was needed in their line of work. Seeing the younger assassin kinda flustered made the blonde laugh a little bit. Sipping at her coffee the woman waited a few moments before replying with that same smile. Sami was unsure and obviously, the blonde business woman had the means to know why. Taking things slow was how it had to be but adding a little fuel to the fire was what was called for. Moving forward was the only way one could truly live...the past was merely a lesson to learn from. That was all, so many people lived with regerts of the past or lived only in the past..which was no way to be in this battle of life and death. Sami needed to learn this as well as some others but you can really only teach it to one person at a time. For now Sami seemed to need it more and Colleen was going to do right by Inanna this way.* Colleen - I'll tell you no lies, my dear. He is quiet a catch for a younger man. I know Inanna would approve. You needn't worry too much about that. She always tells people to live for the now. Regi would indeed do the same. So you have our support even if you need a little time to think about it.

Sami was taken aback a bit by Colleen. She wasn’t expecting the blonde to.. Well, Sami wasn’t sure what to expect with her, but this wasn’t it. This flustered the girl more. “I appreciate it. I really do. But…” The assassin lowered her head again, the blush gone and the sad look had returned to her eyes as she starts remembering her friends and the last moments she saw them. “There’s someone else I like, but I never got a chance to tell him and now…. He’s gone..”

*Setting down her cup the blonde looked over to the assassin and reached over to tilt her head upwards. Smiling lightly, a slight pain in her eyes as she did so. There was obviously was something on her mind, Sami must have struck a cord some where.* Colleen - My dear, I am not telling you to forget your past crush or replace him. Yet, he is gone...dwelling on it is not going to bring him back, you will have to come to terms with that in do time. *Sitting back in her chair, the woman laced her fingers together and her eyes are half-lidded. The blonde looked as if she were reminiscing about something. After a moment or two the female continued her tale.* Colleen - I am in a predicament that could be seen as worse or not as bad. You see, I have a daughter of whom I love dearly. Sadly, however, I cannot see her...when I do it is very rare and as much as it hurts, I have found those whom help ease that pain. They do not replace my daughter at all but they help and allow me to move forward. *Placing a hand on Sami's, the Staffing Lead did what she did best. She was a mother figure after all. This was what she did for the Noe despite her previous business. The assassin had to start moving forward, staying in the past would only continue to hurt her. How people could continue to live in the past confounded the business woman, she guessed she they all needed a push to move forward. Colleen would be there to do just that.* Colleen - You cannot allow grief to rule your life, Sami...you are not living then, you can't even call it surviving. You have to find something or someone that gives you a reason to live...think about it, would they want you to do this to yourself? If they truly cared they would want what is best for you, Sami.
