Suki raised an eyebrow. "No problem, I don't care. Feel free to take what you want." Suki sat next to Lily and watched Leighton. "It wasn't you was it? In the picture." She said, keeping her gaze on Leighton. Her stomach growled, the smell of the cookies reaching her.

Leighton opened his mouth to speak, then closed it and glanced at Lilly, who was too distracted by thoughts to be listening. Leighton shook his head. "It was my brother. My wife took it a few days before he died." he checked to see if Lilly was listening, then continued. "I never saw the photo again after the bombing. It was the only photo he'd ever let us take of him. He hated his pictures being taken." Leighton let out a quick sigh and clasped his hands together.

"Then you keep it. It's rightfully yours." Suki said, still regretting showing him her pictures. "And I'll be right back.... I'm starving and those cookies aren't helping any." Running into the kitchen, Suki found her ramen noodles and began to cook them. "Hurry up hurry up hurry up..." Suki said to herself, jumping around the kitchen. She really was hungry. Almost a month without food did that to you after all.

Leighton only nodded. He would get the photo later. He shifted on the sofa. The aroma of human food surrounded him. He was hungry, but could only take in blood or specially made demon foods. Him and his brother would always steal black apples from the market back at home. Leighton smiled at the memory, but quickly wiped it away.
Lilly finished the cookies and set down the plate. She bit her lip in thought, then suddenly looked up at Leighton with wide eyes. "What was Kyree like?" she asked him.

Suki walked in with her bowl of ramen as Lily asked about Kyree. Sitting on the couch with Lily, Suki nodded. "I'm curious to know too. I just never had the guts to ask." She said, taking a huge bit of ramen to give her an excuse to be quiet for a while.

Leighton smiled at the memory of his beautiful wife. "Well," he began slowly, "she wasn't like the other demons. She was...caring. Her voice was like a lullaby. So soothing." he paused for a moment. "Don't even get me started on her eyes. They were the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. They're a pale grey, like mist or fog. In the light they'd change to a pale blue. She seemed more like an angel to me." he smiled at Lilly. "Kyree was and is the love of my life. I'll never forget her. Before she died, she held my hand lightly like a feather, and told me I was her first love. It meant the world to me." Leighton shifted in his seat. "I'm rambling." he rubbed his watery eyes, trying to shoo off the tears.

Suki wiped away a tear of her own. "No your not. Just keep talking." She said, eating another mouthful of her ramen. "She sounds amazing." Suki said around her food.

Leighton opened his mouth, and it took him awhile to start speaking again. "Her mother wanted her to marry the Lord's son. He was rich, handsome, perfect. I was just the Lord's assistant, along with my brother. Pay was poor. But she picked me." he said. At this point, tears were streaming down Leighton, and Lilly's face. "She picked me." he said again, as if it was a dream. "I've always thought that she was too good for me. Out of my league." between words he sniffled. "She never lied to me. Never betrayed me or was disloyal. I fell for her the moment I saw her, when I was seven years old. I knew she was true. Kyree was so perfect." he paused for a long moment, as if embracing the details, as if trying to permanently edge the image of her in his brain. "I would do anything to go back and sacrifice myself for her to live." now he was sobbing. Lilly gasped quietly at the last sentence. More tears streamed down her rosy cheeks.

Suki grabbed a box of tissues and took one to wipe her eyes. Handing the box to Lily, Suki let a small choking sob escape. "I'm... so... sorry." Suki said between wiping her tears, but there was just too many.

Usually when Leighton was having a break down he'd poof away to his home. But being with them made him feel better. He felt like Kyree was right next to him, cradling him in her arms like she used to. Lilly accepted the tissues and almost used the whole box to blow her nose and wipe her eyes. She wondered if he would ever find love again.

Reaching over and taking another tissue, Suki went over to Leighton and hugged his shoulders, handing him the tissue. 'This is so weird.... I usually cause the tears, not try and stop them...' Suki thought, wiping away her running makeup and the last of her tears with her hand.

Leighton declined the tissue. He had never been so open about his wife and his feelings. "I could have saved her, you know." he always blamed himself for her death.

Suki used the tissue herself. "What happened?" She whispered, sliding to the floor and resting her head against the arm of the couch.

Leighton shifted in his chair. He shook his head. "I don't want to talk about it." the bloody memories made him cringe. Seeing his wife's corpse where his body should have been.

Suki nodded. "I understand. Sometimes I wish I couldn't remember some of the things I've seen..." Suki whispered, running back to the burning hole in her memories, wanting to feel its pain.
