Oh.. Oh, that was pretty good! If it wasn't for the sloppy presentation, in fact, Gaston would call this perfect! But, everything was in the picture and this picture.. wasn't everything.
He moved onto the next table. Hm.. Haruka? Oh, she was young, but pretty. She would certainly grow up into a beauty and that alone was enough to have him smiling at her. He looked at the dish and – MY! That was.. beautiful! Simply stunning! It was almost like a professional had done it, that was how amazing it was! The dish was so simple, just some shrimp, but it was enough to have him beaming down at it. It smelled delicious too, but the sheer intricacy of this design.. from a budding flower, this was superb! He couldn't think of enough words to describe how simply.. simply.. marvelous! Ah, but, he shouldn't get ahead of himself! He needed to taste it first, but.. well, from the looks of this, he was going to really enjoy it.
He had high expectations as he took one of the shrimp into his mouth..

..And they.. sunk. Gaston frowned as he chewed on that shrimp. He didn't understand how something so beautiful could be so.. lacking. But, he supposed, there wasn't much one could do. He shrugged and moved onto the next station.
Oh! The hairdresser and blacksmith! They were a couple, weren't they? One of the stereotypical, but beautiful, couple's- Oh. Gaston looked at the plate they had set up and his face fell into a scowl. What was this?! Was that his panda – was that – was that - .. Oh, they were making fun of Florence! Of his beautiful, giant panda! He knew the hairdresser had talent – the man did do his hair once a week – but he dared show off this atrocity with so little likeness to the grace that was Florence?! He threw a look down at his panda, getting his paws sticky with the honey, and then returned his eyes to this.. shrimp dish. He snorted and took one of the shrimp, being sure to smear the insulting panda head design as he went.
He ate it with a sneer and crossed his arms, gauging the taste not so carefully..

..Mmm, well, even he had to admit it tasted decent. Average at best. He didn't do anything more to show his judgment for.. it wasn't much to think on. Next station..
Ah. Let's see.. Hansel and Una. Hm, looked like a father and daughter combination.. both were attractive, pretty, and.. Oh, he liked these two! It showed his community as one welcoming of all kinds and a happy, family-oriented community! He could see these two welcoming new residents of Sonata in a commercial or pamphlet! After the last two disappointments, this was a welcome shift in atmosphere.. He smiled at the pair, though one was underage for him and the other.. Well, if he had a daughter, then he would probably have a wife.. Not that that mattered to Gaston! Gaston was Gaston, king of the island! Or he would be when he managed to make Nirvani it's own kingdom. Now, if only he had the attention span to find out how to do that..
He took a bite of the herring..

..Oh. That was.. disgusting! How could such food grace his lips?! Gaston supposed he wasn't one for German food.. Still, it was gross and he showed that as he grimaced openly, shaking his head in disappointment at the German. What would become of his town if they only had average cooks? He sighed loudly and trudged to the next station.
Who was this..? Dante Tepes. Owner of the general store – ah, he was gorgeous! And so was his dish! He smiled, pleased as he took a look down at the plate he set out. Cute, simple, and so finely done.. Charming! Perfect for a small town! Of course, the man was rather tall.. But, Florence had seemed to like him.. or was it his brother that he gave a hug to? Well, it didn't really matter. All he knew was that he liked this dish. He did see that the man's twin was nearby, even though he hadn't exactly signed up with Dante.. was that against the rules? Well, two beautiful people were better than one! Though, that also made them more common in appearance. Ah, he was getting sidetracked. The food was marvelous, that's all that he cared about.
He took one of the cakes to try it, hoping that this time he wouldn't be displeased..

Dear God. This was.. This was PERFECTION. Beatiful! Stunning! The man felt like crying! Was he crying?! Maybe, but did it matter? No, no, because he was Gaston and Dante Tepes was given the seal of approval! The most beautiful, perfect, delicious.. There was nothing to compare this to, it was almost.. almost.. No, no – but he must! He must admit it! It almost.. could beat Florence! Which was why the man had to leave to go to his panda and confirm that outrageous claim. It couldn't be true, could it? His Florence had done a wonderful job.. enough to beat the Tepes! Right?
The man stopped before the ruined station where Florence was standing, carefree with his torn-up bottle. His muzzle was coated in honey, which dripped onto the plate that both Bela and Gladice had tried. It appeared to be a stew and.. in all honesty, it was revolting. But all Gaston saw was his loveable panda being the best chef in the history of culinary arts. Look at the carefully calculated honey splatters, atop the water (that.. was water, right?) and strategic placement of oranges, shrimp, and some kind of fish. It was perfect, better than any commoner here could manage.
It was without any regret or hesitation that he took a spoonful of Florence's dish..

It was – it was delicious! The man scarfed down whatever remained on his panda's appetizer, but.. even after swallowing it all down.. Even with how heavenly it tasted.. it was just a smidgen below that of Dante's masterful dish. Oh.. He frowned down at his Florence, who was paying more attention to his newly discovered table leg (the left one this time). Indeed, they were both in dismay. He sighed deeply and slumped, moving over to the next station..
A tall, elderly man and a pretty young girl. Well, he couldn't say much for another old person in his village, even if he was standing next to a cute flower. So, he was actually impartial for once as he took a look at the calamari. ..Everything about it was average. The choice in food, the preparation, the display.. there wasn't much he could say either.
So, he didn't think anymore on it and took a bite.

..Oh! It went far against his beliefs, but perhaps simple did have something to say for itself. Not as good as Florence and certainly nowhere near Dante's dish.. But it was good. Presentation aside. He smiled slightly, feeling better at the good flavor left tingling on his taste buds, and moved onto the next station.
Oh, here it was! The mysterious one! Mystery Girl X! Flashy, unique, and mysterious! His spirits were lifted even higher as he looked at her plate which was.. totally not mysterious, flashy, or unique. Yet another average one. But, fear not, for the school employees had proven that average could be tasty too!
He took a bite of the dish and tested it..

Hm.. It wasn't bad, better than average. Not what he expected entirely from such a mysterious figure, but he supposed it would have to do. He set the plate down and moved onto the next station, which was.. perhaps the most dreaded place for him ever.
The Sex Bullets. Oh, how he loathed these rockstars. Hated them. And look at their presentation! It was horrible! ..Well, it was actually rather good considering their skill level. In fact, this was better than average.. much better than a few of the dishes he had seen that day.
He hummed thoughtfully and took a sip of the.. odd smoothie.

IT WAS HORRIBLE. Gaston felt tears spring up in his eyes as he gagged at the disgusting concoction, feeling himself choke. Why had he taken a sip?! What had compelled him to think that anything these horrible, horrible, showy punks could do anything that was at all – Ugh! He held a hand over his mouth and sprang away from the station, off in search of something, anything, that he could puke in or on that wouldn't ruin his beautiful town's beauty. He did stop to tell Gladice of his scores before leaving the woman to announce the results of round one.

Well, the first round was now over. Every dish had been tasted and judged. Gladice and Bella calculated the points while Gaston was busy vomiting somewhere. The thought of that made Gladice smile. That would teach him!
When everything was done, she moved back to the microphone to announce the results of the first round.
"Everybody, may I have your attention please? The results are now over. In incression orders, here are the results for the first round.
Florence Sonata- 12pts Sex Bullets - 13pts Kade Waldrop and Yoakim Leblanc - 16pts Joshua Pyre and Leroy Hunt- 18pts Hansel Weber and Una Anderson tie with Herman Frisk and Winnifred Blood - 20pts Dante Tepes - 21pts Haruka - 29pts Magical Girl X - 30pts
As you can see, the gap between first and last place is pretty big but everything is possible! The second round will start in ten minutes. Please be ready to cook then."

The moment the scores were announced Haruka let out a loud sigh. She was a little relieved she hadn't been first, that was too much pressure. Still, she had been close, and hopefully that would be enough for Nanami. Turning off her brain so she could think for the next round, she absentmindedly began cleaning the now-empty plates. The fact that her mother hadn't come rushing over and slammed her hands down on the table in shock was a good sign. Still, she avoided looking over in their direction in case Nanami's reaction was anything but serene.

❤ ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ [ Mystery Girl X ] ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ❤ Magical Girl X quickly wrote something down on her whiteboard, and held it up, then jumped a few times in joy! The whiteboard read: *squeals with joy!* To clearly signify her joy of winning the first round! She had a huge smile on her face, and prepped her station as quickly as she possibly could. She did this a lot sooner than expected and quickly cleaned off her whiteboard, and headed to the station next to hers; Harukas.
The young girl, only about a year older than Haruka, wrote down something. She then held it up for her to read. That was close, you're really good! I'm Mystery Girl X, what's your name?❤ ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ❤

Haruka was startled by the girl who suddenly appeared. Although she was wearing a really odd costume and caked on makeup, she was obviously around her own age, too. The whole situation was a little bizarre, and Haruka gave the girl a confused look. "Really? You're called Mystery Girl X?" she asked. The costume on top of the whiteboard along with the odd name was almost too much for Haruka to take seriously. "Well, whatever. I'm Haruka. Nice cooking."

❤ ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ [ Mystery Girl X ] ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ❤ Magical Girl X smiled, and erased what was on there. She wrote her next message, then showed it to her. You won't find it annoying if I try to talk to you for a bit, will you? She asked with a slight frown on her face. Mostly got the vibe that Haruka didn't really want to talk to her competition. Not that they had anything to talk about, she just figured that anyone who could cook as well as she can could probably be a decent friend. ____
"Erm, I do not know...?" Cid responded. She was over analyzing his gift to her. "It is just one simple gift from one person to another." He tried to explain, and unlike how he usually did, he couldn't go into much detail. It was just as simple as that... well that's how he thought it anyway. As the cooking competition began, he suggested to watch them, to see if anyone's being suspicious! Though, he seemed to spend less time watching at anyone suspicious, and more time watching Romane.

..Really? As simple as that? Romane frowned, but took the fan anyway to give it a careful examination. No needles, no messages, no.. well, anything aside from paper, glue, and wood. It honestly was a simple fan. Could be considered pretty by some, but she didn't take the time to note the imagery, preferring to shut it and set in with the first fan. She would discard it normally after assessing it, but.. Well, it was a gift and, though odd, it was rather nice. When was her last present..? Ah, no time to think on that. She had a job to finish and the monk had distracted her enough.
She nodded at him as he suggested watching the cooking competition, having not caught sight of the panda with the crowd moving like it was. Everyone should be gathered there, after all. She didn't bother much with the contestants or results, simply eying the crowd and keeping a watch over the panda. The bear.. seemed rather healthy, just rolling onto his back, licking at his paws.. doing regular panda actions that one would expect of a panda. There was the possibility.. that the panda could be a distraction, but that was why she shifted from the creature to the crowd every few moments. ..Nothing truly suspicious.. Aside from that woman in the kimono, but she seemed to be simply interacting with the other teenagers. Perhaps she had it wrong? Nothing horrible was happening – ah, but the festival wasn't over yet. That small falter vanished and she went straight back to surveying the crowd.
