heteria starting abilify tomarrow-15mg (need a new mood stabilizer, neurontin not working, and makes me angrier... last med before med that cause weight gain, which is the last med before blood work drugs *lithium, etc.* starting the weening process for the neurontin... only 4 pills today, and in five more days 3, and in five more day 2, and in five more days 1, and in five more day... freedom! dosage of wellbutrin now 400mg, highest possible dose... good focus... heavy depression. the higher dose should help depression. abilify... anyone know it? Abilify = ew. I got up to 10 mg on it. Gives you a stoned effect 24/7 for a while. Stomachaches, headaches, mrrr. The upside to it is it's wicked strong so you don't hafta take a lot, or get blood tests.

Abilify gave me horrible migranes for the first couple days. I also was stoned 24/7 (this went away after a while). I was also very nausous and had problems seeing straight (this has gone away). I also have problems of getting really dizzy if I get up too fast.
My body is overyly-sensistive to medications (I started out at 2.5 mg and am now up to 15). Just be sure to keep in contact with your doctor and tell them how things are going.
Best of luck.
Feel free to PM me with any questions.

yeah, i've got the crappy unfocused vision-ness going on... and the tummy aches i put down to either not eating or eating a lot of unhealthy foods at once (which is my usual habit)... stoned-ness i haven't got, unless exhausted and stupid and unfocused eyes-ness it stoned (well, now that i actually have admitted out loud to myself in writing, i realized that yeah, i guess that's stoned-ness)... anyways, i adapt quick to meds... i feel a little sad about my neurontin loss despite how much i hated everything it stands for and what it was probably doing to my body (down to three now)... but yeah, thanks guys. helped a bit. not too much info on the net about it.

my meds are in my sig..... not too exciting.... pretty average, a lot of people are on the same as me, i'm on synthroid too... zyprexa's only temperary... my doc doesn't want me to gain weight on it so she's going to replace it with something soon, i'm not sure what though.... abilify made me twitch and drool and get real stiff so that rules out a lot of antipsychotics... yeah *sigh* i don't think they're helping at all i'm a nervous neurotic mess

A friend of mine who's mom is also bipolar recently told me that the ingredient taurine in most SoBe energy drinks is also used in medication for bipolar to help with controlling moods - is that true or is she just looking for an excuse to not take her medication? And if it is true, does it work when its just in a drink?

Myth Tariyun A friend of mine who's mom is also bipolar recently told me that the ingredient taurine in most SoBe energy drinks is also used in medication for bipolar to help with controlling moods - is that true or is she just looking for an excuse to not take her medication? And if it is true, does it work when its just in a drink? I don't think that would do it. Because if it did, they'd prescribe people something like that, since there aren't side effects like with most mood stabilizers.
It -is- possible to get along without medication, according to my doctor. Most who do that self-medicate. The taurine might be a part of that, although the usual forms of self-medication are more recognized drugs. Pot, alcohol, DXM, the like. ANd none of them are really that good of an idea, even though that's the choice I decided to make. X.x;

I'm not too good with the self-medication bit because mine involves self-injury, which I'm eager to stop as soon as possible if at all possible. It would be nice, though, to have something for when I'm in school and I get manic or anxious to the point of tears. I've used alcohol at some points but its hard for me to come by since I'm still underage so I can't use it as much of a medication.
I understand what you mean about the taurine, it would be nice to have something that wouldn't really have side affects like with drinking comes getting drunk and with getting high causes sickness (for me, at least) so I don't really do drugs.
And welcome back, its nice having someone else to wander around with in this somewhat abandoned sanctuary. heart

I've been on Lithium since I was diagnosed. It works pretty well, aside from the casual outburst.

I was wondering if anyone was on Triliptal. I'm feeling dizzy and have a headache, but that might be because I'm discontinuing my anti-depressant. I'm discontinuing it because it was swinging me into hypo-mania. >.> It was a bit fun, but it was also scary...
Any side effects would be appreciated. Thanks!

I don't know. I'm sick of medications and changes and them not working...etc. etc. etc. Sometimes I toy with going off all of them - but since I live at home, my parents wouldn't let me.
Heh.
I suppose it's for my own good.
Besides, my self-medication would consist of self-harm and OD'ing. *shrug*

Dx that'd suck, man. My self-medication consists of not being too smart with myself, alcohol, that type of thing. I've been staying away from the self-harm, I don't need more scars than I already have. I'm a klutz anyway.
Going off of meds is a big choice, and you hafta know the consequences first. XP

I'm now on three meds... Wellbuterin 100mg extended release. Birth control (doesn'treallycount) Abilify 25mg I think there's a reaction between Wellbuterin and Abilify, cause they're supposed to have oposite effects. One gives me energy and is supposed to be an upper, the other is a ******** trank. Ohwell. I'm off the trileptal FINALLY! YAY. ..I find it funny that they have to risk me going suicidal to try and find a med that works to help my depression.
