Forcing herself to relax, Crissy openly grinned, and her eyes once again sparkled with their usual mischief. "It is habit...still used to playing at being a lady I suppose." Turing she studied him once more before moving into his arms. Wrapping her arms around him she breathed in his scent comforted by the familiarity of it. As a young child she had frequently been in his company along with her twin, but as the twins grew older, their father tried so hard to keep them from one another. Perhaps as to why they were so close now. "We have been well enough...mother died almost a year ago now." she told him quietly, remembering that he had seemed fond of their mother.

Nathaniel placed his arms about her, hugging her tightly. She was almost refreshingly cool against his skin. His own body was nearly always hot, because Lycanthrope blood ran hotter than a normal human's. The news of her mother's death saddened him slightly, and he felt a stab of anger. "How did that happen?" he asked, careful to keep his voice even and soft.

Sighing, she relaxed against him, liking his warmth. "The vampiric council..she was executed. Step-father cast us out." she told him, her voice a mere whisper, forgetting that he knew nothing of their discovery of their true parentage.

Pulling back slightly to look down at her, he frowned. "Step-father?" he asked, then shook his head. "I don't want to know." Vampires were so confusing sometimes. Some of the things they did never made sense. A drop of something wet hit his shoulder. "It's raining..should we go inside? I want to say hello to Julian anyway."

Lyra sat on the deck near the bow of the ship. Wherever they were, it was a wonderland. Snow clung tightly to the planks of the ship, ice frosted over the sails, making the snap of them all the more harsh as they filled with wind. The only thing impervious to the bitter temperature it seemed was the water itself. As deceptive as ever, and the oceans moods remained in a constant state of change. It surprised her how ell Seth read them however. Seth...she was coming to understand him a bit she thought now. After spending so long in his company. The Golden Dragon, a ship made of dark wood, nearly black. The sails color depended on where they were and what port they were settling in for a few nights. The demon had quite a reputation regardless of their origin or so it seemed. Shivering slightly, she huddled more securely under her blanket and sighed. The waves were calm for the moment, rocking the ship with a rhythmic gentle sway. She was stunned to realize how much she had come to love the sea, the feel, sound, even the smell that belonged uniquely to ocean waters. It was vast, impenetrable, and it went on forever. She had lost track of how many rising they had spent out on the water with no land in sight no matter how far ahead one looked. The sky was always so open, it felt as if you could reach up and grab the stars, or brush your hand across the surface of the moon. Only in that way did it make her think of the Haven...and Lucid. She found her thoughts rested on the vampire quite a bit. She had heavily protested being forced to leave. But she had done so...for no ones but him. For his sake alone, because he asked it of her. Shaking her head, she pushed such aside for now. Letting her thoughts wander seemed to be all there was to do on the ship. Seth's crew handled everything with an ease she was envious of, and as for Seth himself, he always managed to dissappear and reappear out of no where. Something she knew was because of his dragon form, but she often wondered how he could stand to dive into the frigid waters, and come out unscathed after being in their depths for so long. Lifting her face to the breeze, she drew in a deep breath and watched the sky above her as the ship drifted along, her thoughts wondering despite herself.

Stepping out on deck, Seth's gaze automatically passed over his crew and landed on Lyra, unconsciously checking on her first. Feeling the bitter chill of the wind he sighed with regret. perhaps he should not have brought her so far north. But he found he a crew member had a need to be dropped off in Eryendral Harbor, just off the coast of Erayou, home of the Elven realms. He disliked taking Lyra so close to the elves while he knew that a Lord there was one of the ones who wanted her. He had spent the past few centuries keeping Lyra away from everything. As it was she was even under an illusion to his crew. He trusted no one with her life. It was winter here, and he knew that he was going to be passing dangerously close to Vanson Isles as well, but there was little that he could do about it. Shifting his gaze, he took in his crew silently. The ship was handling well, hell she was flying over the water. The crew were handling the new rigging's well enough to it seemed. The blizzard toward the east was headed more north than he would have liked, but if they moved fast he figured they would only catch the very tip of the storm. Missing the snow didn't mean missing the power of the waves however, and he made a mental note to ensure that Lyra stayed below deck until they passed the worst of it. Shaking his head, he made his way over to the woman who sat alone on the frozen deck, his body moving easily with the swaying motion of the ship. Coming up behind Lyra he crouched and reached out to run a hand down her hair. "Hey...you're going to turn into an icicle you stay out here much longer." he said quietly, lifting his gaze to follow hers. He simply lowered it again when he realized she wasn't really staring at anything in particular, just the sky. He had left her early this rising when she had been below deck, in her cabin with a bright, fire illuminating the room. Her cabin and his own were the only two sleeping quarters that allowed a fire of any kind, and even so he still had to be careful, the fire was magicked, so it produced heat but didn't really burn. Not quite as good as the real thing but close enough for all intents and purposes for the moment. Knowing that she wouldn't care overly much about the cold, he stood and held his hand down to her. "Hey Lyra, come on. i highly doubt that particular shade of blue is lipstick." he added softly, his lips curving into a slight smile.

Not startled to by Seth's touch or his words, Lyra simply closed her eyes for a moment before sighing. Leaning her head back she smiled up at the demon. "I like blue.." she answered, but seeing his look she caved and turned, taking his hand so she could pull herself up. Keeping hold of him to steady herself on the ice she once again shared a smile with Seth. "I know...I don't regulate my body temperature well enough yet." she muttered, trying to avoid the lecture. She knew that, she felt the numbing cold as it overtook her, but she could only be below decks for so long before she stared to go a little stir crazy.

More like you don't regulate it at all, Seth thought to himself, but he couldn't seem to get her to grasp the concept of how to use the power. She had it, he knew she did, hell she had a great deal of power she just didn't know what to do with any of it. And I am not exactly the best person to show her, he thought ruefully. Shaking his head, he pulled her against him and turned with her, making sure she was steady on her feet before releasing his grip. Lifting a brow he stared down at her but allowed his eyes to warm, he knew why she ventured out, he just wished she'd keep better track of the time. "So I have told you...I don't even remember how many times now." he answered, but reached out and brushed her hair back from her face. "Come along, back to your cabin ice princess, you need to eat and warm up." Reaching out as he spoke he grasped her hand and walked with her, heading for her cabin. :And you my fine feathered friend were supposed to be watching her while I hunted.: Talon circled above the main sails and let out a soft cry. :I was...I knew she was cold but I did not know that she was damaging herself.: Faced with that, Seth couldn't really reprimand the bird anymore, as intelligent as Talon was how could Seth expect him to be able to differentiate what one immortal could do versus another. He couldn't really, not fairly anyway.

Mother nature sure could be a b***h, and she chose the oddest times to show it. The storm that had moved slowly through the mountains had just receded sometime during the day. Now, all that remained of it was the heavy scent of rain, and the destructive debris left by the heavy water. Mud slid and oozed beneath the rocks, and he could hear the sound of rockfalls that waited to claim the unwary as they slowly made their decent of the mountains peaks. Water pooled in heavy, overly large puddles, murky and deceptive in their depth. As if the road to home was not treacherous enough, the world itself was adding to it. If I were a superstitious being, I would take it as a sign that returning home would not be for the best, Julian thought with a rueful smile. He had done as he was bade...or so the council had called the summons they had sent for the immediate presentation of Christiana Delantour and himself. Immediate presentation indeed, more of a an interrogation, he thought now. His step-father had been anything but pleased to learn that their actual father was quite a powerful influence in vampiric society. And he was even more displeased to learn that mother had defied him, leaving her title, wealth and lands to Christiana rather to him as he wanted. Wanted, hell he had demanded such of the council, who surprisingly had not supported his claim. Apparently the council did not answer well to demands. The only downfall, was that Crissy wouldn't refuse the position, not when it was all that she could do for mother now. He could not very well leave her after all. Though it had been no easy thing, watching as his twin struggled to step up and take power, much less learn how to use it...and avoid being taken advantage of. Julian sighed, his eyes swiftly assessing his surroundings. A young vampiress with a title of high lady was not something that occurred frequently, and in truth were it not for Lucid's own wealth of titles, a fact that had surprised him considerably, the council would have been hesitant to hand it over to Crissy. He had kept in contact with his father, though he had tried to keep them limited, knowing that the old man had enough on his shoulders and that it would be far easier for him if they kept the hardships to themselves. Hence he had been rather sparse on the details and knew that he and his twin would face yet another interrogation once they actually reached home. Glaring up at the sky as if in warning, he moved swiftly down the path, dodging the pools of water easily enough. The plains would have been far simpler to pass through though that would have doubled the time it took them to reach the castle that lie on the other side. He had been surprised to find that he was just as impatient as his twin when it came to seeing the Haven...and their father again. Neither of them was willing to wait any longer than deemed necessary. They would go through the mountains...after all, they had done so before...when they were much younger.

Crouched as she was on the ledge, Christiana could easily follow her twins form as he moved through the path. She knew what he was doing, scouting ahead...taking care of her as he had always done. Though in truth she was so tired she didn't feel up to fighting him on the matter. She could assert her independence at a later date. All she wanted at the moment was the comfort of home...and of her father. God, how long had it been since she had seen him...over two centuries now. Too long, she thought not for the first time. Far too long. The games and cruelties that came with vampiric society and holding a position amongst it were beyond her. It was all a matter of politics and playing into the vampiric councils hands...the council, the people that truly held all of the power. the titles they handed out were just a means to an end, bragging rights for other vampires if it were. Had it not been for her twin constant presence and support, she fully believed she might have gone crazy. How had her mother endured such...and why did people strive for such things...who would want it. the lies, the deception, endless accusations and anger. For over tow hundred years she had danced to and around the councils tune...she was tired of it now. And despite the councils wishes, she was going home. The council could take all of their ridiculous argument and shove them up their a**, she thought fiercely...that is if they could rise up off of them for long enough. Pushing to her feet she sighed and moved her gaze over the beauty of the mountains. It had been long since she had gazed upon the solitary, peaks that thrust into the sky, as though they would pierce it should they but reach high enough. The rocks held much beauty..as well as much danger. Bandits roamed the caves and trails. Wolves and large cats hunted for prey easily amongst the rocks. The storm had left in it's wake a vicious reminder of it's fury. It seemed even returning home would be a trial...but in truth, what wasn't any longer?

Pausing in his motions, Julian crouched down on the ground and closed his eyes, sending his senses outward. Wildlife...the bandits were also busy..trying to recover from the brutality of the storm. Perhaps mother nature had done them a favor, as he had no wish to fight the mountain men who helped guard the passageways through the mountains. Rising, he turned and lifted his gaze to where he knew his twin sat in wait for his sign. Lifting his hand, he motioned to her, then turned to face the trail once more. They would have to move quickly if they wanted to beat the sun with enough time to spare for a lengthy visit.

Seeing her brother signal, Christiana shifted slightly, then leaped gracefully from the rocks ledge, pushing against a distant mountainside for leverage she twisted her body mid-air and landed with a rather softly a few feet from her brother. Sweeping her gaze over the trail she winced slightly, but obediently moved to her twins side. "The storm left quite a mess for us to sludge our way through didn't it?" she asked quietly, her voice holding the hints of her exhaustion.

Watching his sister carefully he breathed a sigh of relief as she landed safely upon the ground. Hearing her question he shrugged in lei of an answer before sighing. "Indeed...come on, keep up with me. We'll want to move fast." he answered, his voice harsh. He knew he couldn't offer any comfort to his twin now...she would break down. His indifference ignited her anger and stubbornness...which kept her going. Until they reached the Haven, she just had to keep going. The council would be furious at her refusal to do their bidding, and he was going to ensure that she was well enough away from their petty retribution. Oh he was not truly worried, once she was at the haven they could do her no true harm, for she had broken no codes, but the council feared their father. He knew that they had hoped to use his twin to get to the ancient...and his sister had gone and ******** up all of their plans. Good for her.

Infuriated by her brothers words, she narrowed her eyes and waited for him to make his move. When he did, she easily moved to follow him, both of them moving with the blur of preternatural speed. No mercy, not even from her twin, she thought ruefully, as her brother kept up the grueling pace easily. She knew his reasons though, in truth the council could and was very petty. When they could not outright punish you for actions, they found other ways to ensure that your regretted them. Though many though of her as naive Crissy knew that she was only to a point. Even she could recognize when she was being used as no more than a means to an end. And she refused to allow herself to become some form of a weapon to be wielded against her father. The council would find she was not quite as malleable as they had first presumed her to be. They had been willing to hand over her mothers title because of her bloodline and as an added bonus they had thought that her young age would make it easier for them to mold her, or bend her to their will. Foolish vampires, she thought now, for all their age, they made far too many assumptions and were not careful enough with their thoughts or their words. If they did not wise up soon, she wouldn't be surprised if they ended up pushing the wrong beings too far and wound up dead.

Standing up from her changing area in the grass Keir narrowed her brown eyes to look at the village, Anica if she was correct. She dusted bits of grass from her pants and shirt, not bothering to brush it from her hair since that would be too much of an effort. Instead she stepped from the little cover offered to her full height and onto the bumpy makeshift road to the village from a nearby farm.
With one last look to the direction of The Church which she could no longer see physically, but was vivid behind her eyelids when her eyes were closed, she headed towards the village. To inquire if any knew the direction to this Haven she was seeking.
