Storm smirked at Melanie and her annoyance, and started to turn away...only to stop, seeing her Pirate Brand. Storm gave her another once over, reconsidering her.
"A moment, Melanie, if you will. Who gave you your scar?"

Melanie stopped walking and hesitantly turned around, dropping her skirts to the floor. "Beckett." She whispered, her eyes distant as she recalled that-painful-day.

"I have given it up!" Melanie stared at her, then looked down at the ground realizing that it was true. "Ok, maybe I haven't, but it's only because of the brand I have...and because it's in my blood." She trailed off.

"My uh-" Melanie said as she traced a vein in her wrist "my father was a pirate and he married my mother, who ran this inn...."A tear ran down her face as she continued. "then they had me. They taught me how to sail, how to fight then Beckett gave us a visit and branded me. "
