Just the murderers.

*Mell laughs* I suppose I should feel honored, then. But I'm afraid you'll find that murderers are not so easily intimidated.

:::And begins to get out her tranquilizer and loads it into her administrator:::

*Mell smiles, unphased* So you'll knock me unconscious and then what? Drag me out the door?

No... the keys don't work like that. Only you can open the door to your time.
:::She finishes loading the administrator, and starts walking in Mel's direction:::
But at least this way, you won't be talking anymore.

You're quite right, I won't. *Mell doesn't budge, merely sips her wine* And you will have attacked an unarmed woman, unprovoked.
But if that doesn't bother you, then by all means . . .

:::Cora smirks darkly:::
I hardly consider it an attack Melliandra. On the contrary, just like last time. It's to keep you from being a danger to yourself.
:::walking steadily closer:::
See, if you keep talking, you might say something that would actually make me want to hurt you. You're safer this way. I promise.
:::Then she bounds in a great pounce of run in Mel's direction:::

*Mell neither flinches, nor dodges. She merely darts her hand out once Cora is in reach to catch her wrist in a firm grip. She leans forward to speak cooly in her ear* No darling, you give me too much credit. I can't make you want anything.
*She draws back to look her in the eye, and smiles evenly* So you can lie and say it's for my own protection. Or you can be honest and say that you enjoy the fact that you are stronger than I am here and want to take advantage of it.
*Mell releases her wrist, sets her wine glass down, and holds out her arm* Abuse your power over me if you choose. We both know I cannot stop you.

:::Cora is deadly still for a moment. A million things ran through her head all at once. The last time she saw her mother alive. The police telling her and her father that person who killed her got away. The way her father looked when she told him she was joinging the force against his will. The last time she saw him, and the last time she could remember loving him. And finally...remembering why she became a cop in the first place:::
You've got it backwards. I don't stop people like you just because I have the power to.
:::She held the administrator to Mel's arm::: I have the power... so that I can stop people like you.
:::Then Cora pulled the release, and felt the chemicals kick into Mel's muscle. She even heard the rush. But as she waited for Melliandra to lose conciousness, when she knew she had defeated the murderer... she didn't feel any better:::

*Mell's smile does not falter. Even as her eyes start to go heavy, she keeps them on Cora's* And what . . . have you stopped me from . . . ? Enjoying . . . my wine . . ?
*She chuckles weakly, gripping the counter as she lowers herself to the floor.* Congratulations . . . you must be . . . so proud . . *she leans back against the shelves, the corners of her mouth still turned up as her eyes close and she slips into unconsciousness*

:::Cora rubs her forehead:::
I tranquilize her and she STILL can't hold her tounge.
:::She walks around the bar and looks coldly at Mel's still form as she cleans and puts away her administrator:::
No... :::She sighed::: I've stopped you from doubting me. Now you know what I'm willing to do... in the only place I have left.
:::Cora stooped down and picked up Mel's body with ease, but hardly any care. Then she placed her flat across one of the tables. She pauses to look irritatedly at the body:::
I may hate myself in the morning.
:::She noticed that Mel was still smiling a little, and Cora shook her head, putting on an angry smile of her own::: But not nearly as much as I hate you.

:::After a moment, Cora realized that she wanted to be anywhere but there. And doing anything but standing still. She went to her room...and contemplated tranquilizing herself while she was at it:::
*Exit Cora*

*Some time later, Melliandra opens her eyes again to gaze at the void above her. She flexes her fingers, feeling the wooden grain of the table beneath her, and smirks* Ahh, so good of her not to leave me on the floor.
*She sits up slowly, mindful of the tightly laced corset beneath her gown. Sliding off the table to her feet, she straightens her skirts and crosses back over to the bar, where her glass and the wine bottle are still resting. She pours herself some more, swirls the liquid in the glass, then sips thoughtfully*
*It was all well and amusing to have provoked the girl to action in this instance, but it wouldn't do to remain vulnerable to those potions of hers. No, it wouldn't do at all. But what to do about it? Mell sips her wine again, the gears turning, her smile spreading.*

:::Kal paces into the Brink, his hand on his chin, in the same fashion he's adopted over the past couple months. It takes him a few minutes to realize that things have gone much quieter than they normally are, not to mention the climate has changed.
When he realizes something is different, he looks up::
Oh... ::It wasn't exactly a happy 'oh'::
