He was going to pitch in? Surprise there...she had more or less come to the conclustion that Malik often didn't want to see her cause her 'proper destruction' and often didn't poke his nose into it. "How nice, breaking your back so I don't have to break mine." Exaggerated a lot these days too. Piper shook her head. "You're trying to kill him, aren't you?" Scary thing was that there was no compassion in her voice for that surface elf. Not that she hated him...she was just being vindictive most likely because of thier little unresolved issue. If she had acquired anything from Malik it was the occassional pride of the drow race...she wasn't going to admit that Arthur had gotten to her and the best way to do that was act as she was now toward him. "What's the best way to take down a wall without all the headache causing noise?" Because she had a place to start then didn't she? Of course if he wanted to move furniture, well he could move all the furniture in said rooms, out. And of course protect the help from her random outbursts of attitude. Idly placing her hands on her stomach as she thought. Kid was moving around again, actual joy and not so much at the same time. Pregnancy was just a whirlwind of contradictions.

"through necromancy."

A slight chuckle.

"Necromancy is a powerful magic. and it's frightening powers is probably a reason why many culture's outlaw it. Decay, poison, death, disease, raising the dead. this is a purpose for decay. Stone can decay and erode, and so can the mortar that holds it together."

A grin for her, smiling lightly and touching her stomach.

"fiesty one there."

A smile.

"that way, decaying the mortat, means we just pull the stones out. So lets find a room then?"

"You know there just get to be more and more uses for that. Lucky me, I married the one who was smart and useful at the same time. Not to mention he has looks to boot. Indeed lucky little surface elf with a drow complex." Giving a little chuckle at her own little bit of babble. Though her attention wavered from her own musings on his mention of thier child's temperment of late. "Fiesty indeed...though with us as the gene pool, what else would you expect." A little smile at that...that subject of thier child in general was quite the thing. Especially for Piper...after all, bonding with something that was growing inside of you was an elven experience it itself...and she had no doubt that she would soon start falling to that child's bond told whims within months to come. But back to the talk of walls coming down around ears. "Of course by 'we' pulling stones out, you mean 'you and the help' right?" Because if he wasn't letting her ride horses like she wanted, she knew he wasn't going to let her take apart a wall. She would more of be a supervisor. "Sounds like a good plan, have to get myself occupied." Thus getting herself up and more or less praying that she wasn't going to loose her breakfast...felt settled enough anyway.

Over the past six months, the Capital of Deep Water, Deep Water, had undergone a few minor changes and one noticable change. The minor changes incured were merely decorative. Many of the streets were decorated by carving shapes into the corners of the buildings, making gargoyals and buttrices appear more grand and welcoming. Another minor change was the lack of rodents wondering around. The tunnels that used to connect the city-island to the mainland had been collapsed to prevent another incident similar to the Shadow Cat Greed half a year earliers.

The major change was the change in demography. The number of non-humans living in the city skyrocketed over the past six months. Emptied sections of the city began to experiance rapid and rather artistic development as some of the weaker tribes of the Purian Peninsula began exodusing into the city. Almost all of the pure elves had vacated the old land to return to the city, simply because they could 'lick their wounds' here. With the wilds and the threats of the dark constantly looming, they had to hold back any sort of population boom. No sense in raising too many children if they were to starve from a destroyed harvest or poisoned well.

The least noted change to the city, contrary to change in demography, was the Temple of Chaos. Lost somewhere in the backwater streets of the city, the small hut had been transformed into a rather sinister looking building. The statues about the frame of the building reflected people being crushed by some great power. Seventeen different types of person were being oppresed, one notably wearing royal clothes. Inside, only a bed/alter and purple flames could be found by most who entered, and by a select few chosen to be fit, the Lady Of Chaos.

Akbarizad had discovered an opening for rare gems and jewels in his homeland, and wrote to Malik of the posibility of trade.

"Deidrich won't stay more than fifteen minutes before soemthing catches his attenton. He'll learn soon enough not to disobey me."

She gave a quick look around. "I'm not certain where she is at the moment, I'm afraid."

Aella was at the moment, enjoying tea in the east wing's drawing room. A smaller room than most of the others, but it had a large window that gazed out over the city. Aella liked to take her rbeaks from study (she had been learning to read and write in more than one language, training with her staff in the basement rooms, or learning whatever skill someone seemed to think was good enough for her to learn.)

She had onve again changed her style of clothing. Wearing a short skirt with undershorts, and a tank with hanging silks on her shoulders. She sighed as she took a sip of the raspberry flavored hot drink.

"Your repose seems to be lackin gthe luster you carried wwhen you were serving him?" A friendly elvish voice said, lacking the traditional elvish accent of his peers. "But, hopefully the gift I brought you from the north might rejuvinate your spirit... some." Cedric sat next to Aella, wearing more elaborate clothes than he used to. His hair remained much the way it always was, loosely braided behind his head, save for his bangs which hung to the sides of his head. He wore a red cloak over top of a black elvish suit, and white gloves. His golden eyes carried a hint of joy that was not there in years previous, a dream of something grand that he had not dared to dream in his years of being a philosopher. The truth seemed every day to be a figment of the gods' imagination, and not reliant upon any other theme or logic.

Placing a small rectangualry shaped silk wraped pakage on the table next to Aella, the elf smiled softly. "It is more of a practical present than a gift, but I think you can use it."

She smiled at Cedrich as he entered, having gotten more used to people randomly showing up in the large home. "Somewhat, I suppose. I have...very little to do here." She set her tea down picked up the package.

"It is strange to recieve so many gifts from people, and never seem to return them in anyway." She opened the package.

Inside the wraping silk was a pair of bracers. They were made from a very fine cloth, a cloth that she may have never seen or felt due to its rarity. The edges were wraped with a very fine mythril chain. Set into each link was a ruby. The bracers would change size to fit the wearer up to and including Warhammer, or as small as Gil.

"They are Bracers of Haste." He said in response to the gift. He could understand the boredom that accompanied being contained to one place. This was the longest time he had gone without killing something since before he was drafted into the Defense Force of his homeland, over five hundred years earlier. "You can wear them around your wrists to make your hands move as quickly as an insect flaps its wings, or around your ankles to allow you to run with the speed of a great hunting cat. I thought you might like them, incase you ever needed to run fast or swim far." He smiled softly.

"I know it does seem very premature, but you never know when you might need to be fast." He yawned and placed an arm on the back of Aella's chair in a very exagurated movement. "What?" He said with a rather unthreatening tone, as though his attempt to get closer to Aella was not much more than an attempt to get her to laugh at his forwardness, and the coyness of his movement. They he spran up, and looked about for Celeste. "I didn't touch her." He said to the empty room. "I swear it." He held up his arms in defeat.

She blinked a moment, then felt her herself blush. "Cedric this...is great. Thank you very much." She put the bracers on her wrists to try them out, wondering how long it would take her to get used to them. They felt soft and light against her skin.

She watched his movements with a weary look, but smiled when Cedric tried to ward of a not present Celeste. SHe was enver certain if Cedric was trying to gain her affects, or if he really did enjoy making people laugh.

"Celeste is in the west wing at the moment, or so I beleive. With the babe." She reached for her tea again, but knocked it over.

The tea cup titled and was about to pour out but a fingure of Cedric's managed to point at it before it splattered, and a beam of cold energy shot forth and froze the liquid instantly. "Ray of Frost" He said, namingthe cantrip tought to young elvish wizards in order to prepare them for actual evocations.

The ice cube slide across the table, and Cedric garbbed it before it fell to the ground, and placed it back in her cup. "I guess you could try this 'ice' tea if you wished, but that doesn't sound too natural." The sound of a thousand clowns saying a cheezy pickup line would accurately describe the tone of Cedric's voice.

"The Bracers are not something that can be mastered simply by wearing them, but I know a few people who have worn them and learned them quickly." He semi-lied. He knew a person who did that, and no one else, other than Kimmuriel, who owned a pair of those bracers. Upon thinking, they did look an awefully alot like Kimmuriel's bracers.

"I know that I have had a pleasurable trip to Deep Water this yonder Tide, but you seem to be very dreary of the life of an embassy. How shall we remedy that boredom?" His multi-toned and rather open question could make a professional lier seem dull.

Aella looked at the frozen tea in her cup, and took off the bracers. "Perhaps I will train with them first then, before I wear them so casually." She was tlaking more like the Oracle now, more polite, a little less brash. "Perhaps I'll drink it when the tea has melted." She smiled again.

"I think I know one person of thoise you speak. But he would master anything quickly." She fiddled with her tiara.

"With so many people aobut, my duties become less and less. There is little chance now of Meilikki being attacked, without the Hooded Man." She shrugged. "What is there to do for a young half-elf with copious amounst of energy?"

Cedric coughed, and smiled softly once he allowed his mind to settle. "We could go for a walk along the beach, pondering what stars were above us when we were born, and perhaps have a picnic?" He suggested in a typical Elvish manner.

"Or, we could go and help some of the Locals do whatever they need help with. Sitting around idly will cause sloth."
PostPosted: Sat Sep 23, 2006 11:15 am

She lifted an eyebrow at the first two choices. That didn't really seem like they would cost her much energy, she'd do them if it meant doing something, but...

"Helping the city? Like, chores?" She looked at her staff, leaning on the back of her chair and sourting a small breeze. "Better than nothing. Maybe we'll find a ginat rat in someone's celler to kill. Meilikki's been wanting to cook."

She stood, took a thong form her pocket and tied her hair in the usual top knot. "Shall we go then?"

"Hunting is a viable option. There are many things that go bump in the night that have to be slain for the well being of the common folk. Perhaps we should actively look for a giant rat, or watch for basilisk or cokatrice." He stood up, "Let us be on our marry way, then." He said with a cheerful optemism. "Unless... You were implying something more physical..." His voice droped a few tones.

"I do not enjoy rock quarrying." He said with a superimposed tone of despair.
