william hogarth, an english rocco painter, painted the breakfast scene from Marriage a la mode, in 1745. English Roccoco paintings started to deal with morals, where the french was more care free. This scene, shows what happens when people blend wealth and title, a shameful outlook towards the high class. The woman doesnt seem to care that her husband is hung over and has the gloves of another woman in his pocket, while the accountaint is disusted (telling the viewer the behavior of these people is unaceptable).

Jaques-louis Davi, a neoclassisim painter, painted the otah of the Horatii, in 1784. The story of the Horatti was created in the french society, but is based in antiquity. The image is all about strength vs emotion (weakness) and is very much the opposite of the roccoco way of thinking. The artist has used a past setting with a current story to comment on the policical standing of french society.

theodore gericault, a french romantisist painter, painted the raft of the medusa, in 1818. The captin, hired by nepolian becuase he was a friend, crashed the ship, and here the survivors are depicted in a triangle form. At the top, hope, as the men violently wave their shirts to a ship in the distance, painted so that it is impossible to tell if it is coming or going. At the bottom, nudity comes in to show the heroic fallen. The emotion from top to bottom is strong and clear.
