"Oh yeah." Luana folled Maggie to the spot. "There was a car here before, wasn't there?"
She could almost see it in her mind. As she could recall, it was in need of serious repair when she saw it last.

*Luke stares at the empty space.* How long has it been gone?

"It's too bad there's no way to actually measure time in this place." Luana pushed her hands into her pockets, and to her surprise, there was actually a mixture of dirt and sawdust in there. She pulled out a small handful.
"Is there a garbage can or something where I can put this?" She held out her open hand to indicate the dust.

*Maggie motions behind the counter at Luana's query* There's a bin back there, and ye can wash up at the sink if ye need te.
*she looks back at Luke, wondering why he seems so dejected* Well . . . 'tis probably good if it returned te Bard's time, dinna ye think? He likely needs it for travelling.

Luana took the handful of sand behind the bar and found an open trash can. She tipped her hand to let the dust fall in, but stopped after the first few grains tumbled down.
"Hey..." Her eyes stayed locked on the dust. The idea hit her suddenly. "Hey, check this out!" She poured a little more. "Gravity works here!"

*small laugh* He's not travelling anywhere in that thing unless he hooks it up to the back of a tow truck. *thinks back and murmurs* He better not have jewed out and gotten it fixed without me.
*walks over to Luana behind the bar and pats her on the back* Hey, congratulations! *picks up his beer with a grin* There's this guy though ... I think he might have you beaten you to the discovery by a couple hundred years or so.
There was this thing with an apple... Ah, nevermind. I'll tell you about it some other time.

Luana did not notice Maggie's confusion.
"Never mind Newton, Luke! Do you know what this means?" She took a few steps closer to him. He stood a head higher than Luana, but she could almost look him in the eye when she stood on her toes. She held the fistful of dust between them.
"This," she said as she started to let the dust fall from her fist, "means that there is a way to measure time in the Brink." Her voice was low and excited, just the same as when she spoke of her beloved flying machines. She took a step back and let her feet rest flat on the floor. "Don't you see it?"

*Luke blinks at Maggie. Yeah, he forgot about that. Maybe he WAS gonna have to explain the apple thing.*
*Luke gets distracted by Luana. After her demonstration, he sees what she means. Okay. So yeah. Girl had a point.*
Okay, okay. But let's say we do that. *motions around them* Who's gonna be around here to flip the hour-glass? Supposing we make one. There's not much around here but cocktail forks and beer cans.

*Maggie's still not quite following completely, but enough that she can grasp that they might be in need of materials.* Is there . . . something I could bring in te help? *she offers*

"So maybe not an hourglass except to get the thing started." With that, she began pacing, her eyes didn't seem to focus on anything outside, and she seemed to speak more to herself than her companions. "I could use cans and bottles, mark them with my pens, make a water clock..."
She stopped when she was facing Maggie. She had said something, and it took Luana a moment to realize what it had been. "What do you mean by 'bring in'?"

*Maggie blinks, then laughs softly* I'm afraid that might be a bit too big for me te manage yet ...
*she looks back to Luana to explain* I can bring things from outside the Brink inte here, so long as 'tis nothing too large, and provided I can form a clear enough idea of it. Tavin taught me how.
