ok so here is the question ^.^.....does a man have to give a woman who is not his mother a mothers day gift?
PostPosted: Tue May 06, 2008 8:01 am

Joe, well usually in here only if the person has children with you. For example my father some times gets my mom some flowers for the mothers day. But if the person is a mother and you'll know she won't freak out about it, then I guess it's ok in other cases too but I wouldn't say you have to give presents. whee

Yeah if you're the reason someone is a mother... lol

Actually I think it depends on the family. We tend to focus more on our own moms -- but my hubby is bringing home takeout that night so I don't have to cook. That's good enough for me 3nodding

Joe my other half always gets me a single red rose and makes my favorite dinner with candle light and sparkling white grape juice. I make dinner on father's day and let him go out with the guys usually. Ironically my mom asked me and my siblings several years ago not to do anything for her on mother's day because she knows we don't usually have the money. She always says a phone call is more than enough for her and when we make our first million we can pay her back, lol.

I generally ask my mom if there is anything special she would like the two of us to do together on Mother's Day, and most of the time she is just happy going out to breakfast with me or something along those lines. 3nodding

@Joe: I usually don't expect any gifts from my boyfriend. He's so thoughtful all the time. It's the little things that matter. 3nodding But I do admit that taking your mom/wife out for dinner is a nice way to show appreciation so the mom can get at least one night free from the food making. xd

For my mother I usually bring flowers or if I can't visit her during the mothers day I usually call her. When I was a little kid we usually made mothers day cards in the school during the art class. It was fun and my mom still have all those cards. smile

My husband got me a mother's day gift this year. I'm in shock because we don't generally get each other gifts period, let alone with out talking about it before hand. He bought me a beautiful heart pendant with diamond chips in in. Inside the heart is a representation of a mother and child done in silver. Its simply elegant! The chain its on is thin and crappy but I'm not going to say that out loud, lol. I am touched.

I am an uber picky person when it comes to jewelry so the fact he found something I like without me picking it out is impressive too. We had an argument last night over money. Its the same one we have every six months or so, so it wasn't a bad argument. It just was and then he apologized and gave me my mother's day gift early. He can be so thoughtful sometimes. ^_^
