anything that can be used to..well..attach to it. the thing is he's trying to bind himself to elais and your respective sources of pain. elias' mitzlan spirit, raven's void, in an attempt to lessen what it does to you. in return, you'll have access to him, mentally and spiritually. you'll be able to use him like an anchor and speak to him telepathically..and he'll help ease your pain...and deal with that demon in the void, and elias' miztlan serpent.

a familar woudl have power over it. basically he wants to be a failsafe. if the familar dies/overreacts, doesn't work properly, he'll help take the burden.
