Submissions are closed, as of now, right?
Also, can somebody remind me when the issue actually goes out?

Yeah, I guess so. New submissions roll over to next month.

New policy: Only submissions that we deem salvagable go into the mounds. They are then critiqued (if they need to be), sent for changes, and put into the Oasis. Kapeesh?

Publication is on the last day of each month, usually late in the day.

xp And here I am, it's almost February, and I'm still chugging Alkaceltzer. I wonder, would it really be okay to have yearly flu shots? Will it have any long term reprecussions, I wonder? Is that even how you spell 'reprecussions'?

Misery loves company, but you're all too hard to infect through the internet.

*pats Serieve on the head*
Poor you.
And it's repercussion, not reprecussion.
And if misery loves company, well, I don't love misery. Much.

Announcement: I went through the Sub. Thread and picked the choice pieces. They are posted in the Mounds. Critique those you think should be published and make necessary grammatical and spelling corrections (I spied a few as I gave them a quick read). If major corrections need to be made, contact the author. Then post the ones worthy of publication in the Oasis. Serieve, Lilly, Jaho and I get final decision on what does get to be published.

Thanks.

All right. I'll check the pieces out after I finish a little blurb for the Watch.

Okay, time to vote.

I cleaned the Mounds up again.

What Optional section would you all like to use? (Writer's aide, Critic's corner, etc)

You might notice that I didn't use some of the really really good pieces this go around, and that is because I'm saving them for our Anniversary issue.

I'd like for all of the ninjas to show in our Review section, so I may later find some modification for the original Ninja Code thing. Nothing big.

Also, I'd like some input on Mitoguard's Political piece in the Mounds, pg 4. Particularily from Jaho, since politics are more in his realm than anyone else's here.

EDIT: Oh yeah. And we could use more reports for the Watch. 3nodding

Thanks so much!

Well, there hasn't been much going on this month. Nothing site-wide, which is what I usually cover, and not much in-forum either. Not that I saw, anyway.
Only other thing of note is that it's Chinese/Lunar New Year, but that's mostly only important if you're of Asian background.

And, before you send out the issue, the Death of Orion piece ought to be looked over again.

wasn't there some sort of Literate reclaiming of the WF? I remember seeing a few posts pop up as part of it, but I don't know if that was a long time thing or not...

If we were to put that into some part of the 'zine, probably the Watch, oughtn't we get permission from those who created the threads?
Or at least permission from the person who started the whole thing, if you can figure out who that is.

I believe, is the list of links to all the Articles.

alright, I shall message them and get the information!

Edit:

On another note, I had hoped to have my review of Brokeback Mountain in this issue, instead of Pride and Prejudice, if that's not too much trouble. My plan is to just build up a supply of reviews, and then if I have an incredibly busy month, or don't get to see any movies in the theatres, I can use an older reviews. Usually I prefer to stick with movies which are still in theatres; they feel more timely like that.

'k.
By the way, what ever happened to the advertisement for Hawthorne's Vexations? Or did we never quite make a decision?

Oh, I have another idea for a project or something: a contest where writers take horrible cliches and make them good. Like, take the most over used and badly used plots, and write them with an interesting twist.

I would also love to have an issue were people rewrite fairytales, although perhaps that is getting a bit overdone these days...but we could even have poems sumbitted based on fairytales, modern renditions of fairytales, etc.

If you wanted to put that in an issue, you might also want to say something about the Cliche contest.
There was also a Collab. RP-thing called Clich, Inc. I'm not sure if it's still going.
But yes, very good idea.

Problems.

Tomorrow, a.k.a. Publishing Day, I will be all booked out. As in I get up at 5:30 AM and I'm busy until about... 9 PM. Not including unfinished homework. And by the time I get home, I promise you that I will be in no mood whatsoever to do anything.

-Draft is not finished.

-Best of Issue needs some decisive voting.

-An Optional Section needs to be chosen if we plan to have one.

-More Watch Reports

(Note: I don't see why we can't use the one mentioned above; we've reported threads and events without permission because it's sort of assumed that we can. Unless this is all very official stuff, I don't see why we can't just type a little report to tell people about it. That can't really do much harm. But I haven't even glanced at it, so if I'm wrong, forgive me.)

-According to Rushifa's request, I've changed my mind and plan to put in Breakback Mountain instead, but have no time to do it now.

(Note to Rushifa: Can you look up the director to that movie for me please? Just put it in Google, it's really easy. ['Breakback Mountain directed by' will get you there] And next issue I plan to use the Writer Review on Shelley. It's very detailed and highly researched, and doesn't really need a Ninja Code. La Revue can be used for reviewing anything. I may include one review by you also, but I thought something special for our anniversary issue would be nice.)

-Death of Orion really does need to be revised. Otherwise, take it out and set it aside for now.

-I don't even have the Afterthought.

And I only vague recall word of some advertising on onsite writers, so this Hawthorne thing will probably have to wait until next issue. Fill me in on it some, neh?

...if by chance all of the above is taken care of on time without me, don't forget to inform the published writers that they have been published, and be sure to make note of who the BOI winner is so that I can pay them with mule money later.

Good luck to us all.
