Yesterday me and a few others had a discussion on power levels, the joy.
I'd like to point out that,Xol's points were accurate and correct. That his view was mature and well-represented,and that I like his position on things. However,as much as I agree with him and would love to live in the perfect world where all the players with power followed that honor system,I clearly,do not.
Evidently the new power levels have been presented.A new chart, the 0-7 is actually posted by 9.I hear TJ is also working on a side project, after some others took a glance at my proposal.
The new power level reform is a step in the right direction.Making Villain status an applied position was a great idea.I still feel that all profiles should be revisted however.Note: This is not to say an effort isn't being made.
Focht brought up a nice point. As did Xol,we don't want to lose our characters and damage RP's.That's why I agree with Focht that some powers or abilities should be lost/downgraded. Those who are in a level 6 status and care to keep it should just apply for level 6 status. This isn't to say I doubt integrity or judgement,it's just that rules being in place apply to everyone.
Sadly,The power level system is fickle. We don't yet have a chart of races and their abilities,so it really seems to be touch-and-go. The mods seem to be working hard to develope things.I just feel that the power level shouldn't be a passive lookover, but actually enforced.Everything does take time,I know that. It's not so much that I'm impatient, but with the memberlist being cleaned up now is the best time to have things done. While joining members can start on a system before developing bad habits.
Which brings me back to yes,the mods are working on it.As I saw a profile was recently denied. However, (I hate to use Xol) we have characters that have been here for awhile that are superraces eons old.We have villains who are essentially gods for one reason or another.Be it their personal power,or that they hide behind their walls and place I have infinite soldiers as defense.
I'm not at all referring to flaws when I look at the power levels.A flaw doesn't make you less powerful.A flaw or drawback is something EVERY action has.Whether you are a level 0 bystander baby that is too weak to lift something,or a level 7 god that drains his energy casting superspells.Regardless of your level you must have flaws and drawbacks.Frankly, saying that your mega-attack drains you doesn't make it any less powerful.Slashing with a weapon drains a bit of your stamina. That is a flaw, you can only swing a weapon for so long before you tire out. That is a flaw, a drawback. However,if you're superhuman and can swing it for 40 days straight, you're obviously still more powerful.Even with that flaw.
However, this is all just my opinion. My thoughts and stance.I'm sure people will disagree or argue it.I'm open to everyone's thoughts.I'd like to know what you all think. If not to better reshape my ideas when I put them forth, then for simple curiousity's sake. I just think that's how it is.I'm sure the mods are working hard.I'm assuming the new chart will be finished eventually,And I'm assured that they'll get around to devising a racial chart eventually.
[EDIT]
I feel as though I'm picking on the villains too much. That isn't my intent.Even Focht, who plays a good guy, says his character is overpowered.Clearly this isn't a problem of just the villains,it seems to be a guildwide problem.Power for characters is literally, insane.I bet that most of the BC's characters would be scoffed or laughed at in any RP that wasn't a gods+goddesses convention. In fact.I'm going to take a look around, see just how many guilds I can find that would accept some of our characters.

Wow..no one on to talk to about my opinion. And it's gonna be lost in the OOC blather soon.
*Searches for a place to put it up where all can see it.*
Oh!Members to mods,it seems fitting enough. It'll go there.

I, personally, can't find anything wrong with your statement Soul. It's all pretty accurate, and I'm pretty sure that only when you RP in an area for SO long will you be allowed to use the character that people like Xol, Mastema or Focht run around with. When you finally reach that point, that pinnacle of supream power that everyone quests for, the reason for getting that power is null. You have already crushed your opposition in getting the power...now all you do is flick away those tiny little bugs that try and rise up to fight against you. Take Mastema for example, not trying to target him it's just he seems best for this situation. He is some all powerful god villian of the Black Company, right? Well what happends when some newer character comes along and accidently stumbles into him? This new character has the potential to be something great, maybe he's a good roleplayer or has a good idea for a character that takes time to develope (god help us if there was such a person!), but he's struck down by Mastema so early that he doesn't get a chance. That's all fine and dandy, because as stated earlier Mastema is some sorta god villian that everyone's afraid of!!! stare Another person comes along, not as much potential, but just as good of roleplayer. He gets beaten by Mastema also. Now you keep doing this for a long whiles and soon you have what? Those people who only survived because they either pulled some super attack outa their asses, god moded, or saved themselves by saying they had to go. I'm not going to lie and say I've never done it, because I have, but when you have a person who's so far above everyone staying on top for a long period of time...it kinda discourages newer people from comeing to play.
Another thing, Mastema as an example again. I realize that villians are allowed to god mode, to an extent, in their lairs or keeps or what ever they have, but sometimes a character may have the upper hand over you, regardless of your territory. If you're a, I don't know, fire lord or something and an aqua mage comes waltzing into your volcano lair or what ever. Yea, you have the upper hand because you have home field advantage, but they also have the upper hand because they are prepared to fight against you specificly. If Mastema is hideing away in his keep and Hidjie comes up to him and starts talking, say for instance I decide to really position the Leviathan over the planet and start an orbital bombardment (which I'll never do because orbital bombardments are normally for complete surface erradication.). Well, Mastema has the advantage because it's his turf, I have an advantage because 1) he can't fire back 2) I have, probably, more guns and 3) the shields on the Citadel will last only as long as YOU have energy, the Leviathan's guns will continue shooting until it runs out of energy. And since it's about the size of a planet, with fusion reactors and solar panels, I think the Leviathan is going to last longer then you are.
Now I'm not bitching or complaining about anything, I'm just rambling. Soul, I think what I'm trying to say is you can put a level system or a power system on the Black Company...and it may be followed, to an extent, but there are ALWAYS exceptions where a level 3 could beat a level 6.

ok, so where do Inaluke and Corlic fit in, also, here is Corlics power list:
Beserker Rage:when in combat, Corlic loses all consious though and anything related to it...fear, pain, logic, sanity and gains inplace of those blood lust, toughness, need to kill, and blinding rage, his speed, strength, power, and endurance are also multiplied by 10 while in this state
Downside:he can no longer tell friend frome foe making everyone fair game, he also is almost completly drained of energy.
Bloodline connection:This allows him to see, feel and know what his brother, Inaluke, sees, feels and knows, and vice versa, Inaluke also sees, feels, and knows what Corlic dose, this ability also aplies to the other senses, like sound, taste, and smell, the two brothers can also communicate telepathicly utilizing this ability
Downside:if Corlic is put to torture, Inaluke feels it and vice versa, also, Inaluke and Corlic have a nasty habbit of fighting with each other whitch can cause serious damage to the both of them because for every hit one of them dishes out, they feel that hit themselves
K-9 senses:Corlic is half dog...nuff said
Downside:Corlics senses can be overwelmed more easily than most peoples
Veteran of the North:Corlic has served in the front lines of many campains so he has a good store of battlefeild tactics, natural leadership, and is tougher than the avrage solder
Downside:Corlic is desencitized to death, pain, and fear, meaning that he cannot feel sympathy towards others, even his own brother

Actually Soul, I don't apply for Guilds, I get invited. With that in mind that means that they've seen me RP a fair share of times and know what I'm capable of power wise. And this is coming from the former villian with the most powerful move set and abilities, sooo...that should end your quest right there. sweatdrop
