This is true. I've decided to lurk the Levi Vent for reasons even I don't know. Guess its because that was where I would chill everyday before getting told to shut the hell up because i said something stupid. Meh feel free to come say hi.

Ah, vent and me don't get along I'm afraid. : grins : And if you got told to shut up for saying something like that, then you join the club. I'm sure everyone here's been told that at least once.

My soul has been ripped to shreds. ; _ ;
I got an impartial price for my art, though it was more of a "you're not very good at this" comment disguised as pricing. Now I feel bad.
I need a cookie.

Well, considering it was the person who wrote the guide I read on how to set up an art shop, his / her opinion is probably worth something. Plus, I really don't get any commentary besides the lot of you, which, no offense, is probably at least a little skewed towards being nice instead of realistic.
It's certainly not going to keep me from drawing.
[Edit]
And I'm just being melodramatic. The problem is that nobody, outside of people I know, has told me what they think my art is worth. I can't really get an impartial price so I know approximately where to start. I don't want to start too high and scare people off, but at the same time I don't want to start too low and rip myself off and on top of that have people get pissed off when I raise prices.
[Edit2]
... what I mean is, people are going to tell me different things. What might be "eh" to one person could be "amazing" to someone else. Besides, there's always room for improvement, which is part of why I want to make a shop - new characters, new designs, and more variety. The day I stop improving is the day I die.

Well I mean if its the person you respect, in some way, telling you that idk what to say. personaly i would go around to some renowned artshops and ask them to take a look at your profolio and ask what would be a reasonable price for art of that style.

It's not a matter of respect. I don't know the person, but I have to believe as another artist, and a seemingly pretty popular one, their opinion has at least a little sway. Though I think their criticisms could have been a little bit better focused than saying that there was nothing specific to point out for improvement.
It's like saying someone needs to lose weight but not saying where. Helpful, but general and it comes off as insulting.

Criticism is constructive if it helps you.
If it's an artist trying to shape you into their style, then it's not going to help you since your sense of proportion and perception is naturally different from people around you.
Chin up, no worries Rage.
*pokes* You're golden in everyone's books here.

The trick is finding that balance between people who see art as just art, not compared to their art, and as good as the intentions are of friends, they're going to be at least a little on the side of not trying to hurt my feelings, regardless of if they realize it or not.
I'm not concerned; I'm still gonna draw, still gonna open my shop. I probably shouldn't have said anything to begin with, because I'm far more concerned about how to get things up and running compared to someone's comments about how I draw.
I need breakfast. D:

That is unfortunate.
I love my friends enough to share with them exactly what they need to hear, without my personal feelings for them involved.
It makes me blunt, and abrasive at times.
But it also makes me a good person to run ideas past.
Side effect? Everyone that I know feels this insatiable need to share their dark secrets with me. Some things I simply don't need or want to know.

HonoRaven *falls over laughing* rofl it is always amusing when people say I'm 'being nice'... when I know I'm a seriously grumpy b***h xp You always say that about yourself though, and from everything that I've seen you aren't a 'b***h'. You may feel bitchy and grumpy, but it's not generally reflected in the things that you say/write. Haven't slept yet?
