Nice SoulShard! I'm not much DnD, but I really think your idea is good! Only thing though, you're forgetting about those people who have like those deep down power reserves that they never use unless they're about to die. Like a get out of jail free card, just unleash this huge ball of pure energy at your target and you're spent. An all or nothing kinda attack...I, personally, deplore such abilities, hence the reason I'm normally a machine. It's all or nothing all the time, using the best of my abilities at all times. If I don't win? Yea, I get the hell beaten out of me, but I can always be repaired. My newer character, though, has a unique ability where his strength really depends heavily on the toy he has. Lol! Weird? Yea, I know...but say, for instance, he has his favorite Captain Crush action figure and he pits it against a T-Rex toy. The Captain Crush action figure is going to win. Only because he's a super hero and he was designed with it in mind that he is really, really, strong! Like super man, kinda. He's designed to be near unbeatable, but that really doesn't stop the bad guys from beating the ever living hell outa him...now the difference between Captain Crush and Super man? Captain Crush has a set amount of damage he can take before he breaks and little Tegral loses his toy crying crying

lol..indeed,but I think I mentioned something a bit along those lines.Kinda like....
Your little human goes quite insane.Grabs a sword, doesn't know how to use it,but stupid luck and fury drive him to bury a group of mercenaries in their own selves.Or the crazy momma lifts a car to save her baby kinda thing.People snapping and finding reserves their conciense self couldn't.
Magic is icky,I assume a sorcerer might be able to manage unleshing arcane might with great expense at itself.
A wizard however, will, and can, not. They take time to prepare and cast their spells.A wizard is about years of training and doing it over and over until it's right. A sorc is about having the potential in them, and using it as they grow and learn.
It's not really get out of jail free. The cost to yourself can kill you or have you so out of mind that you're an easier target then before.A vampire that has been taken by it's darker side has strength beyond it's norm, but tries to kille verything. The result being that they stop thinking above primal and are easier to understand, and they also kill the ones they care about without remorse, until they come out of it.
Your idea of the toys amuses me to no end.

Lol! It was great, last night I did the cootie song chant......but I can't seem to remember how it went, hahaha! I remember reading something about people going insane, but I'm kinda outa it this morning so I don't really remember a whole lot. I really can't tell the difference between a sorcerer, wizard, warlock, or witch. They're all finger wigglers to me. Just targets to take down! Hahaha!

Once again,I use mainly DnD reference for a number of reasons.I know it better then most other things. It's in books and not changing much at all,so you know it's based well. They are paid to balance a massive game and do so well,so you know the spells are fair. And,they've been doing it for what...30 years now? They do it best to in my opinion.
Not to mention the classes make perfect sense as well, and are balanced.
A Sorc has arcane power in their blood.Their use of spells is often without a book or even spell components. They start getting their powers around puberty. The spells they get aren't exactly learned, they just come along in their life.
A wizard however, doesn't naturally have that gift.A wizard uses hours of reading and training, they use components and spellbooks to weave the arcane forces to their will.In reponse they get MORE spells and such, but they can only memorize certain spells and so many a day.Unless of course they cast from the book with everything, but even that requires work. They spend time to remember each spell so they can cast it.A sorc doesn't,they simply have them. They pick it and use it,they learn less and have less diversity of spells, but in reponse can use any spell they have whenever they want as long as it's not too many times in one day.Every spell drains every casting type.
A sorc is rumored to have gotten their powers from having dragons blood in their lineage, but that can't be proven or disproven.

Though, by referencing everything by DnD, you put a lot of people out of the loop who have never even played DnD, let alone went out and purchased a rule/magic book. Like you could post everything, type it all down, for everyone too read, but we're still at a disadvantage. People who have been playing DnD for two, three, or even four years total are going to know a lot of loop holes and tricks to be able to bend the rules in their favor, meaning someone like me, who has never played a day in his life, is going to have to take the punishment...because they haven't broken any of the rules, just bent them.

Loopholes in the game are a rarity. The ability to use them in an RP enviroment even more so.The info characters hold IC is still IC.I'm not saying the guild should be run by DnD standards, but it's nice to have something solid to base your ideas off of.

Well soulshard if you have any questions about the other common systems, I will answer them for you. Such as White-wolf, or the d6 system. They are the two other common ones. DnD, is now d20

I think basing things off DnD 3.5 is a great idea.

Yeah,I started on D20.I looked into some D6ish stuff and it seemed weird.Since D20 was my first type it's familiar and comfortable to me at least.I might have a few questions. Not many though. xd

D6 is quickly fatal, and Whitewolf is always fatal, just think of it that way.
