"Gabriel," he said softly, leaning up to give the kisses to the boil's cheek, the kisses that he himself was refused.
"You weren't awful, those lyrics were awful. And cheesy. And we're in public. Your voice is music to my ears."
He grinned at him then, nuzzling him affectionately and hoping he'd give up his act. Efflo had meant what he said, and while he had been only teasing the dragon in terms of his vocal abilities, he wasn't sure he wanted a whole crowd watching him get serenaded. Kisses, however, were perfectly acceptable.
Target acquired. How lucky for Thackery that one of the couples at the forefront of his mind were right here! Together! Being super cute to each other!
"Hiii Gabriel, hiii Efflo," he called to them, his facade of professionalism slipping away in the middle of his greeting. "So, I was doing this thing! And it made me think of you guys and stuff, and basically I was thinking that you guys should both sign this contract that will give you a whole lot of happiness together forever and ever, since it would be a ton of fun and all!"
"Well." Gabby fussed, the soft, darker blue of his blush starting to color his cheeks. "That's different then." He still refused to look at the boil, but he turned his head forward, and rested it against Efflo's forehead. "Maybe I'll forgive you," The gleam of crystal blue flickered up to meet Efflo's gaze. "This time."
The sound of Thackery's voice, despite normally being tolerable, only sounded grating to the boil at that moment because he was finally starting to enjoy himself. He'd even intended to steal the kiss that waited on Efflo's lips, taunting him with proximity, when Thackery called their names - suspiciously.
"I don't sign things." He huffed to the boil, his eyes still locked on Efflo. "As a rule."
His tail swished out towards Thackery, bapping him on the side. Shoo, puppy. Shoo.

Amphi smacked her hands on her hips and stared at Hel....she may even have squinted too.
that wasn't cool bosom buddy...Not cool Bro, not cool at all.
Efflo started, but was interrupted by the arrival of Thackery, to whom he owed a lot of gratitude and despite his nature of throwing social functions and actually expected Efflo to attend, the undead boil liked the demon. So his own tail flicked in irritation, hitting Gabriel warningly in the leg. Efflo didn't want to sign whatever it was either, but Gabby didn't have to be so rude about it. Besides even though he had no intentions of signing it, Thackery was only trying to promise them happiness together. That wasn't something to strike so immediately and so coldly. Efflo frowned the further he thought, narrowing his eyes at Gabby. Maybe he'd sign it after all, just to piss him off.
When he turned to Thackery, however, all trace of malice and glare had left his face, Efflo having reverted back to his favored standby of shy, cute and harmless.
"Hello, Thackery," he smiled gently. "What's this thing you're talking about? Can we read it?"

His eyes lit with amusement at her first answer, and he kept their waltz slow--she could think it was for her, but it was really because practicing in an empty room and doing the real thing among other people were very different. "Let them--" he began to answer when Alex crept in with his two seeds, and Mort lost the rest of his original sentence to a fit of snickers. "I announced, must count for something!" he called after his zombro, stumbling a bit on his own feet but at least not falling.
Mort shook his head and leaned in as the witch did, his smile faltering for a split second. Perhaps she did not have to worry, but there was a yet tacked on that felt like a small lump in his throat. "No," he said just as low a voice, turning the brightness of his smile back up, "will not be losing me t'night. Will be glued to hip actually." And Hel could fight with that later if she wanted.
"M'glad got t/do it for real this time, though. No tricks, no illusions, no dreaming--really real stuff for once." His eyes glanced up at her crown and then towards her scepter before he gave her a fond look. "M'proud've you, Bells."
"Ow, hey--" Thackery whimpered, backing away from Gabriel...before stepping towards Efflo instead. He shot the dragon a pained look of betrayal, which quickly became cheerful friendliness when he glanced back to the more amicable of the two.
"Sure! It's kinda negotiable though if you wanna...negoitalize it." Nailed it. Pro contract demon. He offered the paper towards them, because fully tricking them into signing it would weigh too heavily on his conscience, and eagerly awaiting their assessment.
The contract was a fairly standard demon contract: a section for their names and signatures, with their portion of the deal explaining their future state of unholy union. Thackery's half of the 'deal' really did appear to be happiness, though there was no elaboration upon how he actually intended to make that happen.

Danny quietly slipped into Amphi's sad arms, somewhat violently prodding her to dance in a silly manner.
Thoroughly chastised and guilt tripped, Gabby had the appropriate reaction of.. not caring. So he let Efflo read the contract, but still had no intention of signing it.
"No. Really. I don't sign things. Didn't you hear that story about the slime monster? He signed a piece of paper with a demon and turned into the key ingredient used to make Mountain Sludge. Now he's just milked all day. Because he signed that paper."
This was of course completely made up, but Gabby spoke with such fervor, that it was impossible to not believe him.

Except that Efflo wasn't listening because after Thackery had allowed him to peruse the contract, he'd shut Gabby out on the basis that he was being stupid. Thackery was their friend, and he was the whole reason they were together in the first place.
So while Gabby explained the horrors of signing demon contracts, Efflo was already using a glowworm to do just that.
The story about the slime monster had Thackery wide-eyed in disbelief. Good demons didn't do that! How could anyone trick anything into something so terrible?!
"But Gabrieeelllll," he whined, pausing for a pout, "I wouldn't ever do something like that to you! You're both importaaaant to me! I just want you to both be happy forever and stuff, for real!"
His ears drooped, and though he was being very obviously melodramatic, he did appear genuine. As did the cheerful smile the glowing signature elicited, once he noticed it.

"Efflo, no-" Gabby hissed, reaching out to try and smack the contract away, but all that glowy gunk was all over it now, and he groaned, taking the paper in one hand. Now he had to read it.
"So, wait.. this is a demon contract?" His eyes flickered up at Thackery suspiciously, before returning to the paper. "Why are you trying to get us to be your slaves, Thackery?" That was what demon contracts were, right? As far as he knew, they were. He'd skipped that class.
".. is this some weird kinky thing?" Because if it was, Thackery, you could have just asked.
A glowworm had latched on to Gabby's hand, and was ferociously trying to bite him. Sadly, the barely inch-long creature wasn't very formidable, and the most Gabby might feel was an irritating pinch.
Efflo was glaring at his boilfriend with about the same ferociousness, not saying a word.
"What." Thackery's response came out at a level barely above a squeak, his eyes wider than they had been during the story of the slime monster. "No! I'm not even into--I mean, not that you're both not attr...I mean, wait. No." He took a deep breath and tried again, hoping to stop backpedaling so hard this time.
"It's only a demon contract 'cause I'm a demon! I can't make other kinds. I mean, it would be suspicious if it were an undead contract or something, since I'm not one of those, right? And it only makes you my slaves if you wanna be my slaves! But that's...wait, that's not even what that says," he huffed, craning to give the contract another good look. "All it makes you is happy. And married. So like, I'm kinda your slave, since I've gotta be sure you're both happy and stuff! But negotiable, like I said!"
He gave Efflo a vaguely apologetic look, hoping that this wouldn't make anything problematic between them. That would be the opposite of what he wanted.
Gabby's expression did not move, nor did he even blink, as Thackery sputtered and stuttered his way through the explanation - until the word married popped up, very faintly, and he realized what all of this was about. So he took the paper, but he didn't sign it - nor would he, but now for completely different reasons.
"It's very sweet of you to try and make sure me and Efflo are happy, Thackery." He glanced at his boilfriend, caught the rage in those green eyes, and quickly looked away. "But as you can see, we're doing just fine without any help. And isn't that for the best? So, don't worry about any contracts for happiness. I'm sure we can manage on our own."
He smiled, just a little too smugly, and patted Thackery on the cheek. "Now, if you want to be our slave, then you're getting back into dangerous territory. And honestly, I'd have to ask Efflo if he's okay with something like that. It's not a decision one of us can make on our own. But we both like you very much, and if we ever did want to play at something like that, you would definitely be the boil we called in." Now, he looked at Efflo again - his expression should have changed by now, right? Gabby felt hopeful.
