Ganon conquered several different dimensions and porked Zelda every day Link was busy ******** off in the woods chasing men in green tights and wandering around mask shops with ***** Link spent the eeeeentiiiire game power leveling and being given free s**t. Ganon just sat back giving Zelda's a** hell all game, and tbh, still probably won the engagement like 100x but gamers are fags and only count the continuity where they don't Game Over.

I'd be A-OK with that comparison. Other than turning into a red haired pig, that's kinda lame.

I know. I love Ganon to.

But he still got beat up by a kid who spent 7 years in a coma.

Alright. I've fenced epee, which shares enough stance and footwork with the rapier that it should apply to a basic strike like this.

Firstly, one always strikes to the nearest point to the dominant hand. If Tres is left handed, this should always be the boy's right. The reason for this is that failing to do so a) exposes the arm to riposte, b) lengthens the striking distance considerably, and c) vastly reduces the force of the strike, all of which are counter productive.

Hmm, Ok. That makes sense.

Quote:

Couple that with your feint attempt to bring the blade in from the right by turning the wrist, and you have a move that crosses your arm in front of you to deliver a blow that, at best, would cause a minor laceration and allow your opponent to just stab you wherever he pleased by stepping into the strike, and, with your sword-arm way out of position, you wouldn't be able to do jack s**t.

Well thank you for reading over my post. I think I understand the point you are trying to make. I'll keep it in mind from now on.

Quote:

Seriously, I invite you to try and bend your own arm like that and deliver any sort of meaningful blow: Your own muscles prevent it. It's impossible.

Well, curiously, there are no muscles in the arm that is performing that strike.

However, I see your point.

Thanks for looking my stuff over.

I knowwww. I know..

But I mean, the kid was given the power of Hercules in a gay glove. And a sword forged by a giant ******** rock gerbil that can kill gods.

I very much doubt, if you took all Link's unearned swag away, he could handle Ganon.

EDIT: And this isn't even touching on your footwork, which is also suffering.

Feel free to enlighten me.

Not trying to be a d**k about it, by the way. I just get easily irritated by things I ought not to.

If it helps you improve though, that's great.

Let me look at the footwork again in detail.

My main concern is that Id isn't having any fun and I think thats why It has me up in arms.

Well, think of it this way Traz. What can be done, other than address the fight where it counts (the grading)?

About all we can do is reprimand Clash, ...and that's not gonna do anything. lol

I hate to say it but, not every fight's gonna be fun. We all get into those kind of situations; sometimes the writers butt heads and there's just no reconciling it. The important part's to be a good sport through it though.

Cool gentlemen.

Yes and No. Technically most of that s**t you need is for getting through the castle and whatnot. In the end it really only took the Master Sword + Arrows of Light. The Master Sword is kind of just Link's thing... and then the arrows are whatever. Without that mess he could have dunked Ganon a bunch of time but the dude would just keep coming back. In his lifetime. ( instead of 1000 years later or whatever )

I'm sure all that s**t on the side helps though. Fairies in a bottle are kinda retarded strong.

No offense taken.

Go ahead. Tres is no master fencer or anything, nor do I try to portray him as such. His skill is in hand to hand.

However, I and luckly my character is always looking to learn more.

Even the Master Sword and s**t.

Link's an example of a chosen lineage / chosen warrior type setup. It's not really Link himself that actually does anything -- he's an emotionless, expressionless kid with autism who's one emote is :O if something gets him horny. He's not intelligent, he's not strong, he's not really anything.

He's a vehicle.

For the items he is chosen to receive and use. Said items dunk Ganon. To that end, Link is more a piece of equipment, than the Master Sword is; rather he is the sword's blade not he who wields the blade.

I mean yeah, a few of the titles change this up. Oracles/Seasons actually makes Link look competent for once. But most of the time, it's "this retarded kid happened to get the sword." or "this retarded kid is fated to get the sword."

If he went up against Ganon with some regular s**t weapon, no woowoo ocarina magic, no magical light infused s**t, no talismans in LttP's case, etc. -- mettle against mettle, he'd die.

He's basically Kalar's Alan character. Really weak and dumb kid, but has more artifacts than a ******** Castlevania character.

Okay, so Tres is stepping /out/ to his left, which implies that he has to lean over himself to execute the strike, further debilitating an already practically impossible strike. This also forces him to press his weight onto his right leg almost entirely to keep himself from simply falling over in this maneuver. It also means that Tres immediately loses the advantage of having a smaller area of his torso exposed because he can't make that strike as described without turning into it.

You say that this keeps Tres at a longer reach, but, in reality, Tres would be so out of balance and position that his blade could be simply wrenched out of his hand simply by actually connecting the strike.

Keep in mind that just because that crystal arm doesn't have muscle, it still can't bend in a way that is physically impossible for the joints (or, if it can, well... that's kinda derp).

He is just frustrated and I am too.

I am not doing any better than him though by talking badly about Clash's role playing.

Yes I have an opinion on how RP ought to be done, but I shouldn't put other people down if they are having fun.

My main concern is that Id isn't having any fun and I think thats why It has me up in arms.

I understand that, I have been there myself. I know from past experience that Clash is capable of posting so much more, but I wonder why he is keeping it simple in both tourneys?

My personal opinion is I like fights like that. When I use to do the whole fight other people stuff, one thing that drove me nuts was people who would make these giant posts about everything and anything going on with the character at the time. You could glance over the post and smell in real time the character's breath. The only details I personally like to see in my own fights is the actions taken, the emotions of the character, and his visual state (distraught, smiling like a mad man, etc).

Really the only thing that bothers me about Clash's posts is the lack of emotions in each post from the character's view. It is important because a wise fighter will take advantage of a situation where the enemy is visually saying "******** ******** ********"

That's especially true and awesome in Wind Waker.

Because that kid is straight up retarded and he still gets it done.

Link is basically what a D&D Fighter is supposed to be, a walking golf bag of magical s**t that allows him to get the job done.
