*Tavin looked down at the floor like a child who had been scolded*
But.. why?

Because you're an exiled angel with an entire horde of Seraphim after you. *she spells it out plainly, then shakes her head* Really, Tavin, and you say I'm selfish.

*Tavin turned red, embarrassed*
But.. I was in love. It was an emotion. I'd never experienced that before... It was overwhelming.. How.. how does a person ignore it?

*she gives him a mildly exasperated look* We both know I'm the wrong person to ask about that sort of thing anymore, Tavin. But I imagine, if you'd cared so very much, you might have shown a little self-restraint.
If some lovesick little fool was willing to throw her lot in with you that's her own business, but children, Tavin? What did you expect? *she scolds* You're just making the Seraphim's job easier.

But why? I'm his target.. Not Robyn, or Thea, or Alex. Why would he even go after them when he knows it won't help his effort in killing me?

First of all, *Mell holds up her index finger* We all know damned well that if you want to lure a target out of hiding, you go after what he cares for the most. You've handed him ready-made bait.
Secondly, *she holds up two fingers now* Have you even considered the reprocussions of mixing angelic and mortal blood? Now I of course would likely find it a fascinating study, darling, but the powers that be might consider it . . oh, I don't know . . . an abomination against the will of God, perhaps?

But........ but I'm not an angel anymore. And The Seraphim attacked them when he KNEW I wouldn't be able to get there. That's not much of a trap. That's just... cruelty.

*Mell shrugs* Are you really so surprised? The Seraphim have been hunting you for . . . what? Centuries? Millenia? And we both know what a charming fellow he is. You're a marked being, Tavin. You know it, you've known it for ages.
*She says all this matter-of-factly - she doesn't see much point in rubbing salt in the wound*
You were a fool to bring children into the world, and an even greater one to think they wouldn't suffer for it.

It seems to me you've earned that fairly. He's paying for your mistakes, after all.
*she rubs her chin thoughtfully, glancing around the room. Her eyes narrow, the gears turning* Past and present . . . and likely future, too . . ..

*Mell watches him carefully. She files away the information she's gathered - now is not the time to pry further*
Of course, dear, so long as it's an interesting one. *she strides over to take a seat at the counter*

Here you go.

*Mell lifts the glass as though toasting him, though it's hard to tell whether she's mocking or sincere. Likely both. She takes a swallow.*
Mmm. You do not disappoint, darling.
