Exactly. Bruce Lee and Gene LeBell were friends who exchanged ideas. They met on the set of Green Hornet. Bruce Lee found effectiveness in Judo techniques, and had grappling techniques himself.
It's never a matter of "what style is better" in my opinion. It depends on the fighter and what the fighter does, and how they make use of what they learn. I honestly believe you can find plenty of useful things in practically all martial arts cultures.
