"Oooh cold as ice, hard to get. I see you, I see you," Chel responded. She didn't raise her arm again, as Chel heartily believed everyone deserved their personal space (unless it was Jack, then no, of course not).
She frowned as the woman seemed to not even want to pleasure her with conversation. Did she even know how boring pod duty was? This was probably going to be the most exciting thing that happened during her shift.
Lucky for Chel, she had the advantage. She did indeed know of Lex, and would have information on him. "I do know his whereabouts, but I'm not telling them 'til you let me give my shpeal." Chel crossed her arms and gave Claude a very pouty look. "Pleeeease."

“Ah, an island is a good enough start eh?” He grinned and gave an OOOMph of being squished into an embrace. “I have tattoos of my own too eh! He picked at sleeve of his shirt, showing off a design that curled over his upper arm. “Deus Ex Machina, isn’t that, God in the Machine? That’s a place?” He tipped his head. “Monsters.” He repeated, it sounded right, but right in a way like sand slipping through fingers only to have it hastily scooped up again. “… I used to dream about them, shadows you see out of the corner of your eye eh? So…. Their real I guess then? That or, I’m having one Hellofa dream.”

"Well, my parents always said don't talk to strangers, much less get friendly with them." She drawled. Claude stiffened though as Chel played her hand, and the momentary look of surprise was quickly gone in place of narrowed eyed suspicion. "How do I know you're not just saying that? I need proof."

"Your proof is that I'm a full hunter and can kick your butt before you even make it to the door!" Chel exclaimed like a true sun.
She waved the clipboard in front of Claude's nose. "Look we'll go all life on this if that's what you want." Despite her flirtation and general easygoing attitude, Chel did have a logical side. "Look you a'int gonna hurt yourself learning more information. If you walk outta those doors, you will literally get blown up in a few seconds by some sea monster because you don't have a weapon to protect you."
Chel took a moment to summon Tenebrae in his full four foot tall glory and said, "My other offer is that it's easier to beat up a fella with one of these, since you look like you're lookin' to wrassle."

Full hunter...Claude eyed Chel a bit more. Hunter...the one thing Chel had that she didn't was a coat...but Finn was wearing one too. Hm. Ah, wait...make that two things. Once again Claude wondered if this was some sort of futuristic Pirates of the Caribbean movie, and also wondered if maybe, in fact, she was still dreaming. After a long, suffering moment, Claude released a loud sigh, and crossed her arms. "Alright. Tell me what I need to know for right now, and please make it brief." Because searching was eating her up and she needed to be gone five minutes ago.

Chel perked up a little bit and stood a bit taller as Claude surrendered. She loved winning! Winning was the best (everything was a competition okay).
"Sweet! So you're at Deus Ex like I said, and we're a ... school place thing for fighting monsters, which you probably know as those shadowy things you've seen?" Chel explained, using very mature language. "So you'll get sorted into a division in a little bit- all the divisions have different duties, and perform tasks based on that. You ever seen Game of Thrones? It's kinda like the night's watch!" Chel had been binge watching the show with Chris. No judgment.
She desummoned Tenebrae and said, "But first you gotta get bonded to your weapon. You head to the weapon's cove and ey badda bing, you'll get bonded. Kinda hard to explain the process and I don't think you care right now." Chel's experience with Jack had taught her when she needed to take a hint. "NOW you can leave. A life tech will show you the way." She grinned and said, "Come hit me up once you're sorted. Better hope it's sun- we're the best division. But I can hook you up with a few people to talk to if you need friends."
With that Chel, pointed to door, just accidentally forgetting to tell about Lex. Served Claude right for having such an impatient attitude!!

Well...okay. Once Chel launched into her explanation, she did have Claude's full attention. Almost all of the things she said sounded completely ludicrous but...shadows. Yeah. The whole damn reason she was here in the first place, she was certain... Wait...get sorted into different groups? Was this...Alien met Pirates of the Caribbean met Harry Potter met...craziness. "Get bonded with a weapon..." Claude repeated slowly, before she peered down the long corridor of pods for said 'life tech'. She needed to do that to get out of here, huh? Claude was about to pipe up and remind Chelsea that she didn't tell her about Lex but...now she had an opening to escape the girl and get out of here, so logic said to shut her own mouth and take it. The young woman gave the other a two-finger of a salute. "Thanks." She managed to say without sarcasm. She then turned on her heel, and made her way down the row, mulling over what she had learned so far in her head, and fervently hoping that Lex would be on the other side of this whole fiasco. chimarii THANK YOU CHII <3 Sun kouhai is just shy and tsundere : ' D

"There is a beach!" said Arorangi, as though this made all the difference in the world about being a part of a militaristic institution that fought monsters (which to him, it most definitely did). "There is a beach that I must take you to, my friend, we can reminisce about home there!"
He gave Zac's tattoos an appreciative look, nodding in respect, and then said, "Yes, it is a place! We are here to fight and save the world and do good!"
Arorangi clapped a hand on Zac's shoulder and squeezed reassuringly. "I did too, and that is why we're here! To take care of those shadows. We get weapons - they talk to us, in your head!" he said brightly, pointing his index finger at his temple. "They are bonded to us!"

“That’d be the best mate!” He said with a grin. “Ah, but… I kina doubt I packed my board eh? I dun suppose they have an island surf shop?” He laughed, wondering if there was any way to get a surf board to islands of mysterious locations or not. “Well, then… on to my weapon I guess eh? Feels a bit like a movie, except, no one in their right mind would have had me as an actor. I’d be there to tattoo the cast right? I… I think I brought my grandfather’s tools.” He said after a distracted moment. He would have at any rate if he’d had a choice. There were some thing he couldn’t let go of.

Arorangi smiled. "No room for a board," he said ruefully, but then he added, "But maybe we can get you one later, eh? When we have some time off, we'll go and get ourselves some boards so we can go surfing on this ocean. Though I have been told it is a little dangerous, and there are giant monsters in it."
This last part was said quite cheerfully, and Arorangi grinned at Zac. "You should have been allowed to pack a few personal things," he said. "Pack lightly, but I found a few of my good things when I went to my room! And yes, onto your weapon!"
Arorangi clapped his hands together enthusiastically. "It will choose you! You will go to the Dark Cove and you will hear a voice inside your head that will tell you where your weapon is, and then it will be yours!"
He stuck out his leg, upon which a few beaded shells were tied with twine around one ankle. "This is my weapon!" said Arorangi brightly. "He is not much now, I know, but when I call for him, he turns into a spear!"

Zac's eyes widened at the idea a bracelet could be more than that. Really it should have been less surprising given that he had woken up in a pod having signed a contract to fight monsters and stay on a mysterious island of unknown location, that likewise apparently had monsters in the bay. "That... Turns into your weapon?" He marveled. "blimey... I. Guess that's a good thing if there are monsters in the surf, do they make good waves do you think?" He grinned. It was either keep smiling or start freaking out a bit. "Does anyone else hear your weapon? How do they pick you?.... Hell, what if a weapon picks me and I haven't a clue how to use it? Do you.... Well I guess there must be training?"

"Yes!" said Arorangi, and shook his leg, so that the shells clinked merrily together. With a small burst of light, it disappeared, and a second later he was holding the tall, feathered spear in one hand, Ori making sounds of amusement inside of his head.
"It is called summoning," he said brightly, brandishing the spear, which disappeared a second later as he desummoned it again. He grinned and added, "I still think we will get boards and catch some waves, it is much better than sitting and watching the water but not being able to be in it."
Arorangi shook his head, dreads falling about his face. "I am the only one that hears my weapon!" he answered in a jovial tone of voice. "It is okay if you don't know how to use it, there are training fields that you can practice on, and people who will spar with you to help you learn!"

Watching her shaking relative she giggled softly and wrapped around her for a hug. "Careful! You're going to be a little shaken up, you've been asleep in the pod for a little bit likely. But I'm glad you've woken up, it means you're ready to join us!" Smiling she waited for Nellie to come back a bit more before explaining.
"Do you remember what happened at all? Why your here? Or being recruited to fight shadows?" Slowly she pulled back and petted her cousins hair gently. Blue orbs trailed up to the mark leading to the cove where Nellie's partner waited for her.

It felt really really nice and warm hugging Lilac close like this. Her own memories were still fuzzy at best at the moment but bits and pieces were slowly coming back to her now that her body was coming out of the unnaturally induced slumber. Looking around herself and at first the room then the glowing runes that covered the other pods, she started to look somewhat confused.
"... pod? Are Lilac and Nellie both in outer space?"
At Lilac's questions as to how much she could recall prior to her recruitment as a Hunter, Nellie started to look a little sad and lost as she recounted what had happened to her parents. "Daddy and Mummy are gone. There were these people who told Nellie that she would have friends who could see the shadows too if she went with them. Nobody told Nellie anything about fighting..."
Or maybe someone did at some point but she had cleanly forgotten about it for now.

Oh god, it felt like someone had thrown an entire bag of sand in his eyes! Jacob stumbled out of the... whatever it was he was in, one hand holding onto the doorway for support, the other rubbing some moisture back into his eyes. He looked around, and could only see rows, and rows, and rows of pods similar to the one he'd stepped out of. Gleaming white, and glowing, the room looked like Apple had Matrix-like intentions for taking over the world.
"Wouldn't be surprised." he muttered, in a voice gone gravelly from disuse. Every bit of him felt like it had been in storage for awhile. Which was strange, because he distinctly remembered a good long period of physical activity paired with abject terror and the occasional thrill of victory, anguish of loss, and a distinct, agonizing death. He wished the latter wasn't quite so distinct, actually. He didn't think he'd ever be able to look at Super Mario Bros. games quite the same again.
"Oh, god, another one. Why do you newbies always seem to choose my shift to start popping out of your pods like popcorn?" A disgruntled, muffled voice said. Jacob looked up, and blinked. The guy was wearing a labcoat, and over the labcoat, he was wearing a white coat with a gold design flashing behind him as he approached. The most disconcerting thing, though, was the full gas-mask the obscured his face. Why was it painted like a clown face?
"I supposed congratulations are in order." he said, pulling something out of his pocket and pulling a string at the end. A miniature shower of confetti popped out the other end, startling Jacob.
"Uh, thanks? I passed? But, I died!" Jacob protested as the gas-mask clown shoved the confetti under a pod with his feet.
"Well, you either performed well enough that the higher-ups decided you were worth training, or they didn't want to spend all the time and resources it takes to keep you in indefinite suspension. Either way, welcome aboard. Now..."
The clown grabbed Jacob's arm and ushered him through the rows of pods. "You'll need to go get your weapon. You can find yours by going to the Cove. It's where all the newbies go, so just follow the signs."
He dropped Jacob off at a door, pointed to the sign in question, and not so gently shoved him on his way.
