I lost hope in Commerce. I don't know when I'll get it back.

Place your hope in me, Vin. I shall not fail you.

What happened?

This is the reason.

If you have some time, just gaze at the latest couple of pages. If you don't know, I play Vicious Trinity. The answer lies there.

I think I can see what happened there.

On one hand I can understand why they're upset, because those Commerce threads run much differently than ones over here. Doing an action like destroying a bar while many different RPs are going on will result in massive time paradoxes provided that anyone even backread.

On the other hand, I think that automatically assuming you're just some sort of antagonist trying to ruin the place where they RP is absolutely the wrong way to look at it. You weren't trying to end a thread, because there's absolutely no way you could do that regardless. You at least made sure there were people there who would play with you when you did something. It's part and parcel with the idea that you are your character, and that actions committed in RP are supposed to mean you want to be an antagonist to THEM, rather than being a villain like Trinity is supposed to be.

But regardless of any of that, I think attacking a Commerce establishment randomly is a horrible idea to begin with. Your intentions may not have meant to be antagonizing, or to make you feel cool by killing people off, and you were only doing it to emphasize your character's role, but something of that scale requires...you know...planning. You and I both know VERY well from our experiences together how bad those kinds of RPs go when you do not have the rapport of the thread owner.

*shrugs*

I wasn't planning to scorch the place to be honest. I don't "raid." I merely had her there cause I wanted to do some social roleplaying with her for a bit with her acting like the self-important person she is. But then the paladin attacked her, and then...well, you saw what happened after that.

So, it was a good and it was a bad evening. What can you say. I'm just sad that roleplays are so limited unless you're in a place like the Black Sand or some other place that understands that violence isn't always detrimental to roleplay.

Originally this post of mine was much longer, but I should just sum up my thoughts more precisely. ><

I didn't read everything in that thread, but I still think if you're going to do something in a place like that, you NEED to talk to the thread owner, especially if it has some sort of conflict with the rules of their thread. People may understand RP differently elsewhere, but thread owners make the rules of their own threads, and unless Gaia gives some sort of Word of God about RP etiquette, we can't hold every thread to the same set of rules. It also doesn't help if you call your way "more mature", since it makes you sound horribly arrogant, Vin. You never want to sound like that, even if you are a better roleplayer than someone.

Me and the guy I was fighting practically quoted the rules to their faces. They didn't even know the rules of their own thread owner. It was embarrassing to be honest. We broke no rule.

And yes, I purposefully sounded arrogant, both because I was on the Trinity account and I had a Frynarrowingeyes.jpg moment.

Oh! yeah, I almost forgot.

Something to consider.

Think about what would have happened if you went in there, did your thing, and rather than them complaining about you attacking the thread, they reacted to it in RP? sounds like a good idea, right?

Probably wouldn't be. ._.

In such large threads like that you can be fairly certain it'd reach ******** level in no-time. So even if people werent opposed to it, it would have been bad either way.

That's why I feel talking to a thread owner is so important with setting up those RPs. Then you can structure it so that people are really there to have fun and make a meaningful story.

Have you ever mentioned your RP plans to Rage or Kat, Vin? Maybe they'd wanna work some plot out with you?

Oh, come on, man. >_> You know that'll never work in getting a good RP going. When you speak in OOC, you aren't speaking in Trinity's voice. You gotta communicate with people on the level.

Tenkai...I'm roleplaying in Commerce. I went for a one night stand casual roleplay. The owner wasn't even present, much like many Commerce owners. It wasn't like I was going there for some major plot. I already did that three days ago with Roen at his thread.

I looked at the people there, nonetheless, and saw they were half decent in writing, so I roleplayed. But I misjudged how they would handle that type of character and how they would react. That was my mistake there.

Well...fair enough I guess. ._. I just know that, if you're going into a thread like that and the thread owner isn't around to discuss things with, you should limit yourself to individual character RPs. But if you and your friend were acting within the rules of the thread, then I think they were misinterpreting the anti-munch rules that were mentioned.
