Terryn was in a stupor, trying her best not to pay attention to the fidgeting young man. She snapped out of her daze as a green pea landed on her shoulder. She looked up abruptly, her eyes narrowing as a grin spread on her face. She waited for the man to excuse himself yet again before she tossed a carrot at him.

Marcus kept a straight face, eating very seriously until the man sneezed suddenly, burying his face into his napkin. In that split second, a small piece of potato was suddenly sprung into the air, and Marcus looked back down somberly at his food.

Terryn snatched up the piece of potato that was in her lap and raised an eyebrow at him as if saying "That's the best you can do?" When the man dropped his napkin and bent to pick it up, she lobbed a tomato at him, pegging hm in the neck before returning quietly to her meal.

Marcus made a face, removing the tomato from his neck. He met Terryn's look with one of his own, picking up some shallots and firing them at her once the man had actually left the table to go make some other fuss. There were four satisfying thunks before Marcus ran out of shallots, and the man returned shortly.

Terryn glared at him, finishing her meal quickly as she thought up a vengeance ploy. When she was done, she stood up and excused herself, discreetly pinching Marcus in the side of the neck as she passed.

Marcus straightened immediately, clasping his neck with his hand as absently as possible. That was going to leave a mark. "Thank you," said Marcus, clearing his throat after finishing. "It was delicious." And without any more words, he hurried after Terryn.
He pulled out a moist napkin and rubbed at the remainder of tomato. "What is this obsession with my neck?" he asked irritably, rubbing with great vigor.

Terryn waited until they were a considerably down the hall and stopped, turning with a grin before unexpectedly starting to kiss down his neck. After a minute she pulled away, an evil little glint in her eye. "I like it."

"Well...so do I. But why hasn't it surfaced earlier?" asked Marcus innocently, tossing his napkin away and taking Terryn's hands with an easy familiarity.

Terryn shrugged, leaning in to give him another kiss, this one on the mouth. "I never felt like it before."

OOC: And....the earl gets the letter right about now.
"Pity," replied Marcus, smiling. "And now, we unpack. Really."

"Oh Lord in Heaven..." The earl was sitting in his study, rubbing his temples as he read the message over and over. "I can not believe...I-" He shook his head and took out a piece of paper to send a message to the duchess, telling her to come over immediately.

The Duchess arrived within an hour, looking rather shaken. She had not yet had her customary cup of tea, and a lack of tea did not suit her. "I received your message--they've sent word?" she guessed, spying their letter on a table.

The earl nodded, still in a daze. "Read it yourself. Tell me that I have not been stricken illiterate."

The Duchess frowned. "They..." She strode over to the letter, read it, and inhaled so deeply that she nearly passed out. "...They cannot be doing this. They should know better. They should know something," she cried hopelessly, completely taken aback by the duo's utter lack of responsibility.

The earl sighed, picking up the letter again and scanning it again. "It says they are going because of the manor being destroyed. At least they are taking matters into their own hands, I suppose." He shook his head. "I have not the faintest idea why Terryn went though."
