Well... In universe, I think the current state of magic speaks to the lack of understanding and trust of magic in the time after the Oblivion Crisis.

Think about it: It was a terrifying and costly event caused by mages, perpetrated by mages, facilitated by mages, and involved mages on all levels and in all aspects. The public face of the cult was mages. The leader of the cult was an altmer, who are all mages, and they were consorting with Daedra, a thing only mages do. And then it was all stopped by a priest. There must have been a huge backlash against all forms of magic. It's bad enough that there was already so much negative press surrounding mages to start.

Meanwhile, in the real world:

I think it was more of Beth's streamlining. They were trying to make Magic more accessible to the casuals they were trying to pick up. I personally find that insulting to magic players. Magic is for smart and dedicated people. Phenomenal cosmic power is our reward for being squishy and pale.

Byakko, you rock. That last part was pretty hilarious, and spot on. I often wonder why in the world Bethesda removed certain things. Things that shouldn't be removed from a society, technology and tool wise. What, did everyone in existence on Tamriel suddenly forget what the difference between a short sword, and a long sword were? Did they also forget how to make a spear? What happened to all those Shuriken and throwing daggers? Was Morrowind in possession of the very last shipment ever? Seriously... It doesn't make sense.

What makes even less sense is how they managed to seemingly forget the single oldest, most popular, common, and easiest to make/use weapon in all of history, The Spear, ever even existed. It is the standard military weapon for every army since the before the bronze age, but for some reason they don't use it anymore. Instead they have begun outfitting their troops with the inferior and more expensive swords and weapons like the greatsword, which are meant to be used in tandem with spears.

PLOT-HOLES!

You know... It's power mad, megalomaniac, wizards like you that give the rest of us power mad, megalomaniac, slightly more subtle wizards a bad name.

Ah, Evening Star. I love this time of year. Mostly because it's the month of Endru Elmwood's (and mine) birthday. The 16th of Evening Star or the 16th of December. Am I the only one here in the guild who gives birthdays to his characters, or are the rest of you as strange as I am when it comes to certain days. I admit, sometimes when adventuring in Skyrim or in Cyrodiil, I forget that it's the 16th, or that it's even Evening Star to begin with. I really wish there were a way for Bethesda to implement changing of the seasons into Elder Scrolls. Every time I notice that it's the 16th of Evening Star or some time before then, I make a pilgrimage to either one of my favorite cities and treat myself to a s**t ton of Mead, Flin, Skooma or some nice Kresh Weed, and then I usually end up drunk on the floor of some dungeon. I wonder if they could add in a "drunk" filter for every x amount of intoxicating beverage you imbibe.

That reminds me... I've got a barrel of Skooma hidden in one of my homes... Nearing on 70 bottles now... I wonder what would happen if Silas drank all of them at once...

We wield the knowledge of Magicka subtle isn't' really part of our vocabulary. As Mages we like to do things bring, can't be helped.

During the Game Jam video they showed a clip where they added seasons into the game. That video is here in the guild some where. None the less I agree with you, seasons would make things great. You would get a greater sense of time passing other than the day/night cycle.

I have to admit that I've never thought about giving my characters a birthday in game. I've given him a birthday when I used him for RP purposes here on Gaia, but never in the actual game.

I'm pretty sure if you drank that much Skooma, you would have an EPIC TIME then prolly die or something.

Speak for your self. I am more than capable of being subtle when I need to be. In fact, I only get loud when I'm on a power trip and turning fools to ash.

So, I caved in and bought Fable - The Lost Chapters for PC because Steam sale.
I'm having fun reliving the time I spent playing when I was a kid, but now I'm appreciating all the character and armor designs more.

One thing I am not enjoying right now is sneaking into the bandit camp.
HOW THE HECK DID I MANAGE THIS ALL THOSE YEARS AGO?
T -T
Sneaking in Fable is so goddamn hard... I'm just watching as my Hero who is dressed up in Bright Chain Mail(Yeah... he has no chance) repeatedly get caught, slaughter everyone and start again.
Why can't I just break that goddamn door down!?
My character is made to slaughter everyone with his Obsidian Greataxe, not sneak around. Heck, he looks ridiculous sneaking in his armor.

Fable and its "add-on" The Lost Chapters (I've got it for the OG Xbox) will always be the best of the entire series. I'm sorry but Peter you show called great innovations that you force unto us in Fable II and Fable III should have been kept to your self.

Man its been so long since I played that game that I don't remember much other than the main over reaching story of the main quest.

Fable + Lost Chapters had a lot more character than Fable II and III. I mean, Fable had its jokes, but I feel like Fable II and III were trying too hard and took away a lot of the serious undertones of the game.
Fable has always been the more memorable game, I mean, half the time I forgot what things happened in II and III(and I've played a fair share of both of them too).
Also, the characters were more like able. I never liked killing Whisper(so I always choose not to). Also, the lore was a lot richer. I hate how they replaced the Temples of Avo and Skorm with the more generic "Shadow" and "Light". And all the back stories for previous heroes.
And all the armors and clothing were nicer in Fable.
Also, the cut-scenes were short and simple, and actually skip-able(Frick you, Fable II and your 'walk away' able cut-scenes which you'd just have to go back to and let finish anyway!!)
The only thing I like in II and III is the multiplayer. I just like being able to play games with others. And it wouldn't have mattered to me if it was called Fable or not.

And I will never understand the feelings people have for the dog. The dog was annoying, barking over every treasure, not letting me find them myself. And it'd take FREAKIN' forever to actually get on the right spot to dig. And getting stuck on quests where you are required to follow it. =____=
I was so relieved when I was playing Fable, found a chest and was like "There's... no barking, I am free!". I could truly explore without some mutt trying to lead me to my spoils.

The only character I liked from II and III is Reaver.

I think Fable 2 was a good step in the right direction. It had changes but alot of the things loved from Fable were there. There were a few things that were lost, but they weren't particularly noticeable. All in all it wasn't very memorable, but I liked it... Fable 3 on the other hand... It is a ******** travesty.

I will point you in the direction of Angry Joe for my complaints because they are about that numerous and I have had this conversation enough times to know I will start foaming at the mouth and start eating puppies if I get too far into my rage...

Oh no need to point to Angry Joe, I've seen that Fable III video and agree completely with what he had to say.
