Had acupuncture.

Do you get acupuncture a lot? I've always wanted to try it, but I've never found anyone I trusted when I actually had the money to get it done... How is/was it?

I do actually. I've had acupuncture at physio which really isn't "acupuncture" in the sense that people think of it. (Re: it sucks.) The guy I see now is just a younger white dude with a beard so when I first met him I didn't feel like I'd get an authentic experience because he wasn't an aged old Chinese dude. He's really good though - knows his stuff and he's very non pressure. I've been to a lot of doctors in different fields - chiropractor, holistic nutritionalist, etc, and they've all done the furrowed brow and said that they need to see me again very soon. That's fine, but it gets to be very stressful money wise.

He'll ask me about my diet, my menstrual cycle, how I'm sleeping, how work is going, what I'm eating, what I'm drinking and make suggestions. (I love garlic and eat a lot. I told him I was sleeping really really hot and he told me to lay off the garlic and now I'm not hot when I sleep.)

Actually getting the needles - it hurts. Places like my wrists and my calves are fine. The guy really crams them into my toes. My back is really sensitive so it's hard for him to get me to relax. He'll twist them until I can "feel" them. It feels he's taken a blunt object and is pushing it really hard into me. It goes away in a few minutes. When they hurt, I always feel a lot better afterwards, and he knows that, so he roughs me up in the appointments. >:3

An hour is $80 here.

Hope that helps! <3

Ooh, thank you! I had studied a little on acupuncture for a class I took last Fall, but I've never talked to anyone outside of the class who has had it. That's really helpful heart Next time I have the opportunity, it's happening.

I made oatmeal for the first time ever today. I followed a recipe, but I don't eat the stuff so I have to wait until tomorrow to hear if I did an ok job xd

I planted two tiny basils in my community garden this week, and then the next time I stopped by, they were completely gone. They were inside a milk jug, so I know nothing ate them. They just disappeared! Crazy!

Hey guys! Just checking back in after being away for a long time. I had been busy as of late. If you want to read about what has been going on, read about 6 the last 6 posts on my blog. To those who don't want to read, I went through surgery on my left hand due to an accident at home. And I had been sick too real recently.

Recently though I have been reading Paracelsus: Essential Writings. For those of you who do not know who Paracelsus is, he is a 16th century philosopher, doctor and alchemist. Even to this day his ideas on medicine are still around, though we tend to take them for granted.

(Over 70 pages!!!! OMG! Nice work guys! My little thread is still growing! YAY!)

Ah! Jade plants are easy to grow that way? I didn't know that. I had a jade plant that I loved but it died.

How did your oatmeal go? Any reason why you don't eat it yourself? I love oatmeal with raisins and some brown sugar.

Hoooobooooy. What have I been up to? EVERYTHING.

I had my co worker break down to The Crazies. She kept using the petty cash to buy unnecessary office supplies and I asked her to stop. (I'm the manager of the office.) She heard that as an accusation of stealing. A bunch of nasty letters, including a print out on sociopathic liars directed towards me. Anyways, she no longer works there. I was really stressed about it which is usual as I'm a pretty chilled person.

Bones went and got his teeth cleaned. He had one tooth pulled.

Annnnd, we bought a house! Here's the view from the back: link. It hasn't been touched since 1989, so it's going to be a lot of updating. BUT! I'm so excited, I can't believe we own a house here. Ten more sleeps!

I've also planted grapefruit seeds. One, two and three!. I'm pretty impressed; they germinated really quickly and well, look at them! <3

Yeah, back in January I had sliced my left pinky finger on a can lid of veggies. It was pretty deep, (as in about half inch long, 3 cm wide, and deep enough to see fat, strings and maybe joint...) bad enough that I had to go to the E.R. to get stitches. I was cussing up a storm when they were shooting me up with novacain, especially when the doc hit the deep nerve, but they put 4 stitches in. Not that it was that bad though because the doc that I had was pretty cute looking. Over that time I had lost feeling in 1/4th of my finger. 10 days later I got the stitches out, and my doctor did a minor feeling test on my hand. It was a bit concerning. My doc suggested that I go see a hand specialist. I know my doc, when he suggests something, you do it. I was able to get an appointment. The hand doctor did some more tests, and it was not really good. They have this test that helps determine sensitivity, being able to feel between 1 and 2 pin pricks. The measure in millimeters. 0-5 is normal, 6-8 is some damage, 8-10 is damage, 10+ is severe damage. At the initial testing I was at 10+. The doc thinks I hit one of the two major nerves in my finger and on top of that I had a nervoma ball forming meaning that the healthy part of the severed nerve was forming "tree roots" looking for the other severed end. I ended up a 2 weeks later having surgery on my hand. Turns out I not only sliced that nerve, but I also sliced one of the major arteries too and they were fusing together. I was glad I took the advice and got the work done. I spent 10 days in a cast and 5 weeks in a splint. Re-tested later when I got my splint off and I was at an 8, my final test a month after that I was at a 7. The doc says it might take a year or more for it to heal, but I should get most of the feeling back. If I didn't have this done, I might have lost the tip of my finger. My last visit with the hand doc was nearly a month ago now. There is still some numbness, but it is doing ok.

I think it looks gross and mushy. I am a super ridiculously picky eater wink

My fiance liked it though, and he was the intended oatmeal eater, so that's good. I need to buy more oats to make more, since that was the last little bit of mine.

Oh that view is gorgeous.
We were supposed to look at a place this week, but the realtor clearly doesn't care about selling it and kept telling us to call the next day, and I don't really want to buy here anyways so we stopped trying. I have this vision that I am just not going to be able to achieve in this town or probably this province, it's far too expensive for bigger lots.

My peas are 3-8 days away from giving me peas, according to their envelope. I'm guessing more like 10, as I haven't seen any flowers yet. Maybe today there will be though!

I made ricotta today and it is awesome. A tiny bit sour compared to store stuff, but great anyways. I might try using less vinegar next time, maybe my recipe was a bit too much of it.

Of course, nothing could prepare me for the tiny little ball of cheese I got from so much milk xp

Been working hard at my new job, and I'm convinced now that a partial bit of my pay goes to my tolerance level.

Decided to try out some container gardening to beauty my crumbling porch:

arrow Nasturtium are blooming BEAUTIFULLY!
arrow Crocus are done and dry, I dug them out of their pot and sowed them into a bulb garden I'm hoping will grow next spring, and planted some sugar snap peas.
arrow Dug up a wasting strawberry plant that hasn't been doing well for 2 years, and put it in a pot, for the first time in a month there are now 3 new leaves! woohoo!
arrow Bought a red and yellow Mum for $2!
arrow Bought a 2 juvenile Geraniums for $2 each!

I love after Mother Day sales. Cheap plants are great even if they're not looking great, you can always revitalize them with some water, a new pot and some fert. <3

!!!! It was totally overcast here. I didn't have the special glasses. I looked to order them, but couldn't find anything.

I've moved and got Internet yesterday. Will have to go through the guild and catch up. :3

My dad has done it again!!!!
He's brought in some unknown plant into the house and is trying to root it. And when I ask him, what is it? He chuckles and goes "I don't know!"

I've been trying to use a key online but I haven't been able to be very successful, primarily since I don't know how the branching of this plant is, since he's cut it up into sections and stuffed them into a vase. I would be eternally grateful if anyone can identify it.

At first I thought it sumac, based on the color of the stem its slightly purplish, or perhaps night shade, but its not sumac since the leaves are different, and nightshade as a distinct lobe.

Whatever it is, it's pretty smile

I made my practice wedding cake the other day, and it's a good thing I did because the center was totally raw at the time it told me to use. I'll have to bake it longer, and probably not fill the pan as much as it tells me to. It was also boring cake, but it's mostly for decoration so I don't care much.

I'm getting married in 8 days which is freaking me out a bit, since nothing is really ready. The flowers I planted just for this are barely even baby plants still. Luckily the wildflowers are out all over the place, so I will just have different ones than I anticipated.

I found out from the paper today that a group is making a community farm and considering running a program to teach new farmers what to do. All the other programs in Canada are far away, so I am excited that one is going to be here in town maybe. I might do it, if they manage to organize it in time.
