i was true though. he would try to get her to stay but he kept pressing the matter. "what difference does it make? it's not like i can really do anything while i'm in here. i have to see you."

"I took him on before and I could take Devana easily. She just had a trump card this last time. She won't have that this time and also her arm's broken." She continued to look at the letter she wrote. It was finished, but she wasn't going to send it until she was done talking with him.

he sat down and let out a deep sigh. he crossed his arms and looked down. "so that's it? your just gonna leave me with just that? it doesnt sound convincing at all considering you wont even come to me and talk to me. how do you expect me to accept this?"

I can't expect you to accept it because if you were in here instead of me, I wouldn't except any excuse... But if you were in my posistion, would I be able to stop you? I doubt it. When you have your mind set to something, nothing stops you. I have that same trait. I have to do this because it will keep my family safe. Zangan and Devana hate humans and halflings. Look at what we have. Despite how beautiful it is, our family is just that. Humans and halflings. As long as those two are around, you're all in danger. A mistake I made years ago isn't going to take that away from me. I won't let it."

he let out a deep sigh and kept looking down. he couldn't convince her but then made one last desperate plea. "you still have the pendant right? will you at least summon me if you get in danger? just let me know that much and i'll try to deal with this."

"The pendant is always around my neck. You know that." She gave a small smile to herself and put her hand up to the purple gem, running her finger over it gently.

he let out a small sigh of relief and then got up. he threw his fist up in the air and grinned a little. "then think of me as your back up plan. no matter where you go, i'll always be there with you."

he rubbed the back of his head. he felt a bit better thinking about it that way but he couldn't help feeling worried. "i'd like to give you a kiss for good luck but i guess i'm not allowed."

She thought about it and figured that she could give him that if he came into the forest. He wouldn't be able to keep ahold of her, then. She threw the letter and the supplies into a bag and threw them off into the trees so he wouldn't grab anything to prevent her from going. "Come on. I'll let you give me one."
