Tenkai, it's mostly just heavily PvP based like Josh said. I think the main thing it has is PvP fights in like every region, if I remember right from what I saw. For the most part though, WoW has instituted a lot of it. Like Wintergrasp for large PvP battles to control a zone and xp from PvP now. From what I've heard of games, Aion is the ultimate PvP experience. Haven't bothered to look at it because while I like some PvP, I enjoy PvE more. If I want real PvP, I'll go play an FPS.

And I might log in a bit this week and achievement whore it up since Noble garden is on and I have alts that need it. =P

Desi, you been playing Ace Combat recently?

Yeah, WAR crafting is a piece of s**t. Was always disappointed in that.

However, they actually have added a good amount of new content, Jello. Plus, there is quite a bit later on - none of us personally got past level 30, IIRC, whereas I've seen my brother get to 40 with his Marauder. LOTS of stuff to do later on.

But you're right, in that WoW does, overall, have a LOT more to do than WAR. WAR's still expanding, albeit FAR more slowly, due to the extreme exodus from it due to raging WoW man-babies. The game did have a s**t ton of problems early on (mainly stability for me), and it's a shame that now that it is apparently a LOT better (a lot more stable, Bright Wizards/Sorcerers nerfed to acceptable levels, etc.), it doesn't have a lot of subscribers.

Word is, though, that they might be going to a similar model to DDO. They've already made the client free, and have an unlimited trial (play as much as you want from 1-10), and DDO has already had more success with its new F2P model than they ever had before; so, if Mythic/Bioware play their cards right, then they can definitely make WAR into quite the small-medium success.

Lol, Aion has p***y PvP, even to WoW.

The best PvP in any MMO belongs to EVE and Dark Age of Camelot. Funny how Mythic made DAoC and did so many things wrong with RvR in WAR. If they had only done a third faction, then WAR would have had the best PvP experience, ever.

As is? Definitely more satisfying than most, but falls short of the best.

Ah ok. All I ever hear people talk about when they mention Aion is the PvP. That and the like absolutely no GM support outside Korea. =P

And I know EVE has the best PvP MMO wise, but I didn't place it in there because it's a different type to WoW, WAR, Aion, and all those.

But yeah, you pretty much said it there, the main problem with WAR was it was pushed out too fast from beta with too many bugs that drove people off. Same deal as Conan.

Ah, that sounds cool. I'd play it again if it were free... even with the non-crafting.

Honestly though, the 2 things I remember most about the game are: 1) the thematic appropriateness ("Burn, Heretic!" is one of the best names for a finisher move I've ever seen) and 2) the fact that Steve and I ripped through a 20 person PvP team and held the Lighthouse alone for like 10 minutes while the rest of our team was BAAAAWING about the fortress. Despite that I personally was pushing 10+ players back into their spawn and making them cower when I took a few steps forward.

Ah, memories. Bright Wizards inching up step by step thinking they've finally grown some balls and then - bam. I take two steps forward and they run back behind the NPCs. Then they iiiinch forward again and - bam. Two steps forward. And eventually I just walk so close their NPC marksmen start shooting and I have to drop back a step or two... and the opportunistic buggers take the bait when my health drops below half and all come running. Loved the shield wall abilities in that game though. I'd just start blocking and all their spells and projectiles amounted to s**t and then we ripped into 'em again, kill three or four and send the rest running back to the spawn in fear.

I think we each had 1 death that entire round. And 20+ kills for each of us.

They do first 10 levels free now though? Huh. I think I only ever got to level 25 or so with 2 classes, but 10 levels is the first zone and pretty much gives you a proper feel for the game from there.

It's a good length for a trial, but it doesn't let you into the PvP at all, which is the focus of the game.

Haha, yeah, the right combinations of classes can rape SO hard against unprepared masses. Chosen are even better now, to the point where they're considered the best tanks in the game next to Iron Breakers. So, you'd rape even harder with one. Black Orcs, which used to be one of the best, are sadly a lot weaker. Magi are a good bit stronger now, due to an increased range talent, but are still in a limbo area of "Support RDPS that doesn't have a lot of support".

So I'm gonna just re-roll my Chosen and smash s**t for Tzeentch.

Edit: Actually, that allows you to fully partake in the T1 Scenarios, which are the most heavily populated outside of T4. Because of this, they actually drew back a lot of leavers, as well as a bunch of newcomers.

Also, they have a refer-a-friend thing now. If someone subscribes from the refer-a-friend, they get 30 days free and some nifty items.

Yeah, I played a Chosen and a Witch Hunter and... really. I had no regrets about those classes. They were everything I was promised and more. I wanted to be a broken tank and I was a broken tank. I wanted to shout "surprise, cockfags!" and I did, quite often.

A lot of the other ones looked fun, but it was surprising how different some of the equivalent ones were across factions. War Priest did not feel at all the same as Disciple of Khaine despite having nearly identical skill sets.

I might put that onto my desktop to waste some time with later then.

@Jello: Your third rule still applies to the matter of hit or miss. Some people who are fans of Warcraft love the random whatzits. And I wouldn't say no zone in WoW has quests relevant to the zone. It kinda depends, especially with new content they added. (That, and they're revamping the entire old world in the next expansion.)

As for PvP, that is kinda ridiculous. ._. Though killing healers in WoW is a pain in the a** for me too. I dunno if its because I suck, or if they're just better geared, but their talents can keep their mana pools up and such. However, healers are pretty much a primary target in WoW PvP, because if you're fighting a plate-armored guy, you can beat him up and he'll just keep getting healed. That's why you'd have to distract the healer so that he has to choose between healing himself or his ally, while your allies kill the other guy.

Then again, it's probably just that way for me because I keep doing pick-up groups in PvP, and people just do stupid s**t instead of actually fighting smart. :/

I have to agree with you there, Night. I'm much more a PvE guy, too. PvP is a lot more fun in cases where it's more about actual skill than gear, but then again, skill still applies to PvP MMOs.

This makes me wonder if Blizzard's next MMO is going to be StarCraft related. Though I think they probably denied that. Still, with StarCraft 2 and Diablo 3 down the way, there's plenty to keep me busy.

And I didnt even play Diablo 1 and 2.

Yeah, Mythic really nailed the uniqueness between the races. Engineers were analogous to the Magi, but they felt NOTHING alike. And, like you, I loved the atmosphere - my favorite out of any MMO (and most games) since the original Everquest.

Witch Hunters are still ridiculous, which is great. I love watching HP bars just melt when you burst out of stealth and start the heresy accusations.

While some classes are still underpowered, from what I can tell, there are no "useless" classes anymore. Mythic has always been pretty shitty at balancing, though, so I'm never gonna expect them to get it really right.
