The Darth Vizzle
Actually, China and Taiwan have been pretty buddy-buddy lately. Started with the break between China and Russia back in the.. 80s, I think, And has really grown recently.

The Chinese Premier made a trip around east Asia and made some strong trading agreements with Taiwan and other nations. Taiwan's economy is an extremely potent force in that area, and I don't think mainland China wants to ******** with them now, just because it'd be so much more profitable to have them as trading partners than a province.

EDIT:: Also, Japan has been phasing out American military bases for the past three years or so.
Ah didn't know they'd grown closer recently. Though makes sense. China isn't stupid when it comes to business. Which is more than can be said for like every other communist country, and Taiwan is a huge economic force in the region, especially for such a small country. So yeah, they would be much better off having them as a trading partner, despite any other conflicts it would cause to try and bring them under rule. American components, Russian components, all made in Taiwan!

Aye, they have been, and the new administration has been talking about closing I think the last base at Okinawa. Or moving them. I remember reading about it a while ago. I don't think Japan wants the US military completely gone, most of the smarter politicians anyways, probably to keep the US happy, money from using their s**t and a just in case s**t kicks off in the region deterrent.

Man, what the hell.

Politics are ******** awesome, when done right anyway. Political intrigue is one of the richest kinds of plot elements that can be introduced into a relevant setting. It's why I can't stand so much anime - they're all braindead HURRR NUFFIN BUT ACTION. Berserk has such a wonderful blend of action and politics, as well as plenty of GRIMDARK and other stuff. I mean, the politics aren't nearly as convoluted and interesting as A Song of Ice and Fire and the Prince of Nothing, but it doesn't have to be to be really enjoyable.

TLDR; GIVE ME s**t THAT REQUIRES A COHERENT THOUGHT TO WATCH.

I created my own profile. I think it turned out well for the first time, but I did have to look at other profiles to get an understand the coding. I made all the images myself though. whee

I think Cogs TLDR sums things up quite well.

Also, isn't it nice when we can have a nice, calm conversation about politics without getting extremist bullshit from one side or the other?

Grunge > Skimpy any day.

If you can't fight in it without worrying about falling out of your top, then you've got your priorities mixed up.

Cherish it. If public speaking in high school taught me anything, it's that there are very few people in this world you can do it with, haha.

Which is a shame, because I honestly believe the only time you can really learn anything about politics via a discussion is when you have no point to defend, to argument to win. When two people are in an extreme discussion with a ton of ego ties, they're never going to change each others' minds, propose an alternative viewpoint, etc.

It takes a setting of trust and tranquility to promote mutual growth.

Aaaand I lost interest in what you said. >3>

Is it really that much of a bad thing that sometimes people really don't -wan't- to think that deeply into what they read? Or rather, moreover, some people just like general philosophy in what they read rather than political intrigue.

Political intrigue can be done right, I agree, but it really does depend. And it's like political comedy...A lot of times, if you don't agree with the political point being pushed, it's not going to click with you. I think that's why I don't enjoy political themes as much as I do philosophical themes.

I mean, sure, shounen manga follow very similar philosophies that sortof bleaches the whole thing, but seinen manga like Vagabond are examples of more in-depth readings without needing to be politically intriguing or GRAMDERK....errr...GROMDURK...

GERMDANK?

Ahhh, forget it.
