Experiences with NetHack so far:
Made tourist. Accidentally left dungeon when I didn't realize I could kick down the door blocking my path.
Made new tourist. Died fighting a kobold due to only having a +0 Hawaiian Shirt for armor and no weapons.
Made samurai. Fell into trap that dropped me to the second floor. Pet was killed by an arrow trap, character lost all stamina, and had to eat two kobold corpses. Died from illness due to eating kobold corpses.

Soon you'll be getting cursed by 90 percent of the items in the game eating walls like a pro.

I know how to pray now. Still haven't figure out how to identify items or a better way of killing things than walking into them and hoping it works. Or figured out how to replenish stamina. Or keep myself from starving if I don't luck into rations on the floor.

I've got the guide open in another window just in case. I knew about the game's prohibitively hard difficulty before I started playing, so I'm not phased by that at all.
However, it seems like whenever the game gives me a kitten instead of a dog, it dies at the first sighting of a monster.

How is it that these crazy old games are way more intricate than anything that comes out now?

They dont have any kind of good AI so they just make games rediculously complex instead?

Because all the money goes into the pretty graphics and online play these days so they only have to create half a game and charge full price for it.

It's a ball-bustingly hard game.
But fair.
[Edit]
Every avatar on DeviantART is now either Lady Gaga or Twilight related, presumably for April Fool's. I think I need to go lie down.

It's hard. It's hard. It's hard. It's hard. It's hard.
It's really hard. It's really hard. It's really hard. It's really hard.
It's ball-bustingly hard. It's ball-bustingly hard. It's ball-bustingly hard.
But fair. But fair. But fair. But fair. But fair.
...man, love that trailer.
[edit] That's terrible.
