The teacherβs energy was infectious, and Mayume found herself relaxing as she told them to be at ease. Looks like this one was not a stickler for strictness and formality. Despite these being easy techniques, it was nice to hear praise from a superior and the girl smiled in thanks. She listened carefully when the woman moved on and continued with a general lesson. That meant that most of them were roughly on the same level, and Mayume looked forward to meeting all of them and getting to know them better.
Reading the technique descriptions on the board, Mayume briefly wondered why the description for the transformation technique, substitution technique, and the clone technique seemed so familiar to her. Then it clicked, and she realized she had in fact already learned these just a few days prior. Good, that would give her more time to focus on the other techniques instead; Tree climbing, water walking, and genjutsu release. That last one definitely caught her attention, and she made sure to diligently write notes in her trusty notebook. She carried it with her always, and would probably die before she gave it up. She copied the essentials from the board to the paper, noting that both the water and tree walking techniques were essentially very similar; allowing the user to anchor themselves to something, fluid and solid respectively, and prevent falling. The hardest part was that they would require small but precise usage of chakra, and in the hard to master chakra control area of the feet. For Kai, Mayume made sure to transcribe that the required hand seal was tiger, and that it worked by temporarily halting chakra running through the body. Very useful for breaking techniques that directly affect chakra, such as buffs and debuffs, as well as temporary physical alterations, such as chakra-based paralysis. {{ Jutsu learned : Kai [ Release ] β Rank X }} {{ Jutsu learned : Suimen Hokou no Waza [ Act of Water Surface Walking ] β Rank X }} {{ Jutsu learned : Kinobori no Waza [ Act of Tree Climbing ] β Rank X }}
It seemed like their pink-haired teacher wasnβt done yet, and the young girl listened attentively when Chie explained the Korabo technique. She couldnβt help it. She was a curious person and Chie was great at explaining things in a fun and easy to understand way. Plus, it was a very interesting concept, and Mayume had a feeling it would come in very handy indeed. Mayume wasnβt sure what to expect when Chie went to stab herself, but she was relieved to see that the teacher was okay and proceeded with the class as if nothing happened, which, was technically true. Man, illusions were so cool.
The girl was not surprised that she was paired with Emiko, they came in together after all. She was about to tuzrn to Emiko when she heard the older student speak, reluctance dripping from his voice. Not a very friendly one, it seemed. Mayume tilted her head towards him to observe him for a few moments. Sure enough, his actions backed his words, and Mayume briefly wondered if she could ask their teacher how it was possible to mold chakra with one, and even no, handseals. Also, what were incantation circles? Pushing those thoughts aside, the girl redirected her attention to her classmate, smiling encouragingly. She could worry about such things later. Now, they should see if they could copy that fancy trick. "Ne Emiko, how about I start it off with the clone technique, and then you take over the pace with the transformation technique? I will make sure to sync my movements with yours so that you can focus on transforming into something cool." The girl finished that sentence with a conspiratory wink. Mayume had confidence in her new friend, and she was curious to see what Emiko would come up with. If the girl agreed, Mayume would begin with forming the first hand seals for the clone technique, molding her chakra in a slow and deliberate manner. Meanwhile, she would keep her eyes on Emikoβs movements, adjusting her own to match her classmateβs.

Emiko was quite surprised when Mayume went up to defend her from the teacher. She gave her student a surprised look while their teacher moved on after a warm smile and complimenting them. She shot the girl an appreciative look and then moved along with her to watch as their teacher went ahead and continued to teach the large group of people nearby. Once she had gained everyone's attention Chie went over the five normal techniques that every ninja must have in their book. They did sound quite useful, especially the one about creating clones.
When it came time for the students to demonstrate their prowess for the skills shown to them, Emiko looked back at Mayume again. She was writing down things in her notepad. A handy way to remember techniques for the future. She, on the other hand, was more of a hands on student. Emiko took another few breathes before practicing those techniques. The first was the one to rid oneself of genjutsu cast on them. She made the tiger symbol and practiced flushing her chakra network out as followed. It was like stopping the flow for a moment before starting it yet again. A pretty handy technique. Next came the water walking one, which was just sending chakra to the bottom of one's feet and concentrating there. The last of the few would be the tree climbing technique, again much like the last. She demonstrated this by walking up near the closest wall for a bit and then coming back.

The final technique Chie talked about was Korabo. The art of weaving together two techniques with another ninja. The idea of pairing up with another person made Emiko stress out. She did poor on her own and even poorer when tasked with finding a group mate. Fortunately that choice was made for her. Mayume would be her partner for this technique. At the announcement, Emiko felt a little better and gave a thumbs up to Mayume. The two had already been through almost a lesson together. Maybe they could be friends later?
"Oh-Okay! I'll do my best." Emiko gave her word to her partner. She watched as Mayume got ready and then did her so herself. "On 3. 1. 2...3!" She churned her own chakra slowly while paying attention to her partner's motions, never faltering. When it came time two combine both techniques Emiko searched her mind for the first weapon she could think of. "Now!" Her technique went into effect, the Mayume's clone technique and her transformation technique combining into one. CLANG! A large windmill shuriken landed on the ground in front of the two. Emiko herself had been spooked by the sound and ran to hide behind Mayume. She peeked out after a while to see the weapon, bearing her clan's symbol on one of the blades.
"Oh. I think we did it." she said to Mayume. "You were awesome! Good job!"
γLearning: Tanebi no Jutsu [ Cinder Technique ] (E)γ Though Yoshiro didn't understand anything Chie said about movie franchises, he was at least able to grasp the concept of snapping. Mimicking the shape of her hand with his own, he waited for her to finish her little rant and deliver the next step to the technique. Thankfully, it seemed that this technique did not require any sort of hand seal. All he needed to do was mold his chakra into his hand and picture where it was he wanted the flame to appear. Heeding these words, Yoshiro took a moment to steady himself before beginning to focus chakra into his hand. Once he believed he had enough chakra and a clear picture in his head, he snapped his fingers and sure enough, a small spark appeared in the air just above his hand, just as he had imagined it. It may have been brief, but nonetheless, Yoshiro was excited to see that the technique had actually worked. γLearning: Tanebi no Jutsu [ Cinder Technique ] (E)γβ
With a new technique tucked away, Yoshiro watched diligently as Chie joined her other clones at the front of the room. He suspected she had more to teach them and he was curious as to what she had in store for the day's lesson. Once all the clones had gathered, the lesson officially began and Yoshiro listened as Chie went over the list of jutsus they would be practicing that day. Most of them didn't really interest him, aside from the water-walking and tree-climbing techniques, but he knew he needed them all to graduate so he followed along regardless.
γLearning: Kai [ Release ] (D) | Henge no Jutsu [ Transformation Technique ] (E) | Kawarimi no Jutsu [ Substitution Technique ] (E)γ Like he had done with the little fire trick she had shown him earlier, Yoshiro mimicked Chie's movements, forming the trigger seal with both hands and bringing it to his chest. "Man. This wish I had known this an hour ago." he grumbled to himself, thinking back to his experience at the dojo. Then again, he doubted he would have actually been able to break free even if he had known since he wasn't exactly the best at understanding illusions. It was definitely something he'd need to work on. For now, he would move on to the other techniques that Chie had listed on the board, starting with the transformation and substitution techniques. Fortunately, the techniques were simple enough that even someone like him could understand them. The transformation technique allowed a shinobi to alter themselves into another person or object, while the substitution technique allowed a shinobi to quickly trade places with an object. γLearning: Kai [ Release ] (E) | Henge no Jutsu [ Transformation Technique ] (E) | Kawarimi no Jutsu [ Substitution Technique ] (E)γβ
γLearning: Genso Bunshin no Jutsu [ Illusion Clone Technique ] (E) | Suimen Hokou no Waza [ Act of Water Surface Walking ] (E) | Kinobori no Waza [ Act of Tree Climbing ] (E)γ Moving on to the second set of techniques, Yoshiro began working on the cloning technique. Another technique that was simple enough for him to grasp, this technique would allow him to create a copy of himself. It was too bad that the clone was only an illusion though, as he was excited by the idea of having two of himself running around the village. With cloning out of the way, he was finally able to move on to the two techniques that he was really looking forward to: water-walking and tree-climbing. Running on walls and water, how cool was that?! Of course, as fun as the technique was, it was just as equally difficult. Focusing his chakra into his hands had always seemed simple enough but his feet? That was an entirely different matter.
Finding a spot on the wall to practice, Yoshiro began trying out the concept. Placing his foot against the wall, he did his best to focus his chakra into the feet while pulling his foot down. In theory, if he was doing things correctly, his foot would resist his pull and push him up, just like climbing stairs. At first, he found little success, watching his foot slide over and over again. However, after many attempts, he finally felt the slightest bit of resistance from his foot. Eventually, he even managed to lift himself off the ground, although this was immediately followed by him falling flat onto his back. He didn't care about the minor mishap though. He was just excited that he managed to get the basics of the two techniques. γLearning: Genso Bunshin no Jutsu [ Illusion Clone Technique ] (E) | Suimen Hokou no Waza [ Act of Water Surface Walking ] (E) | Kinobori no Waza [ Act of Tree Climbing ] (E)γβ
Once everyone seemed to be done with the initial lesson, Chie gathered the students once more to begin the second lesson. This time, she would be teaching them something called "Korabo". Apparently, this was the art of combining two separate techniques into one technique. While this may have been a useful skill for creative types who used fancy things like ninjutsu and genjutsu, to him, it just seemed like it would over complicate things. The only Korabo he needed to know was that if the first punch didn't beat them, you punch them again. Still, if Chie felt it was such an important skill, he figured he at least owed it to her to give it a go, since she had taught him other useful things.
Finding himself paired up with the older student, Yoshiro watched as the male made his way over to where he was standing. It was a bit surprising, seeing someone so old in their class. Had this guy been held back a whole bunch or was he just some sort of late bloomer? Maybe he had just only recently realized that his true passion was that of being a shinobi? A more curious person may have inquired into the matter, but Yoshiro kept these questions to himself. Honestly, he didn't care about this guy's story, he just wanted to get this lesson over with. Of course, his disregard for the man only grew when he saw the snide look on his face. 'What's his deal?!' he thought angrily, clenching his fist with anticipation for the male's arrival.
γLearning: Korabo (E)γ Before Yoshiro could begin his verbal assault though, the man quickly took up a readied stance for the korabo they were to perform, spouting out orders at Yoshiro as to who would be doing what. However, Yoshiro found himself taken back by the strange metaphor that the man had used. Something about a canvas and a brush? "The what and the who now?" he replied, giving the man a questionable look. Realizing that it didn't matter though, he gave his head a quick shake and prepared himself to cast the clone technique. "Whatever. Just try not to mess this up, old man." He then formed a hand seal and focused his chakra, activating the cloning technique. He had done his part, now it was the other guy's job.

The other girlβs relief was written on her face, and Mayume couldnβt help but smile in response to the thumbs up. Mayume had a feeling that the flame haired girl longed to connect with others but was hesitant to put herself forward, instead opting for a more supportive role. That was fine with the older girl, but she did make a mental note to look out for her classmate so that she would not be overwhelmed by more outspoken people. Herself included.
Emikoβs countdown made it easier to time her own movements, plus the both of them moved in a slow and controlled manner to make it easier for the other to synchronize the movements. The loud clang on the floor indicated that their techniques had fused together perfectly. The sound had spooked Emiko, and truthfully even Mayume had instinctively tensed up, her hands flying up to chest height to protect her torso. When she identified the large item to be a windmill shuriken, the turned to her partner with a celebratory grin on her face. βYou kidding? WE were totally awesome!β The girl moved to pick up the shuriken, careful to not hit anything with it. Holding it up for inspection for a few moments, she winked conspiratorially at the younger girl βCβmon Emiko, you canβt say you didnβt do anything when this thing clearly has your signature all over it!β Next, the dark-haired girl turned towards Chie and lightheartedly chirped βSensei, do we get village points for completing it first?β She was not sure if the teacher would get the reference because she had adapted the houses to villages, but it had been such a popular series in Konoha with both young and old that she dared to risk it. The moment Yoshiro prepared the clone technique and in the interim between touching his fingers together for the seal, and releasing the cast, Shinsei slapped his palms together in a heavy motion that resounded throughout the room; in an instant, the clone technique forged was transformed into something else -- a tall potted plant with bamboo stalks extending outward as a set of thick green spires.
Shinsei nodded gleefully; it was not only created, but it was perfect in its creation. The "korabo" was complete, though already he could hear one of the girls yapping about having completed it first. Of course. Shinsei didn't really care who did what first -- he only wanted to learn everything right, and that meant being cautious and careful at times. Jutsu were precarious things, not mastered by blindly running into them with the intention of speed alone.
"Didn't mess up, did I?" he asked, rhetorically. "Anyway -- I'm not done with the six techniques yet. Two more to go. Then we can show these little girls who really completed everything first."
Ironically, Yoshiro had completed everything before anyone else had. But he supposed being young and eager had its perks, along with its dangers. He didn't want to lag too far behind, though, and he didn't really want a ten year old rival, either. He needed to learn the six techniques and graduate as quickly as he could.
Shinsei needed a squad. He needed missions. He needed money, and opportunity, and other things that adults had. He was lagging behind his peers by years, and that was more than enough.
The man pressed his palms together and focused, settling chakra at his feet and maintaining a smooth, even balance among the surface of the floor. Then, stepping forward with his eyes narrowed and palms still kept together to focus his chakra wholly, he took his first step against the wall . . . and then his second, climbing forward and upward at the same time, in what felt like an inverted world, changing the axis of movement to the vertical rather than the horizontal. The same premise, he was certain, applied to water.
For that, he only needed a bucket, and to balance his foot atop it... which he did, eagerly and easily. The two had the same real premise, and even to shift paradigms between the two felt seamless and easy. The chakra utilization, too, was minimal. It seemed he'd learned it all.
[Suimen Hokou no Waza [ Act of Water Surface Walking ] Learned] [Kinobori no Waza [ Act of Tree Climbing ] Learned]
But, that wasn't all he felt he would need to learn, in order to classify himself as a proper Genin. Shinsei would learn many more jutsu over time, and particularly today. That would begin with several lower-level Doton and Genjutsu, balancing himself out before he would inevitably focus primarily on his Kekkei Genkai techniques. With the scrolls within the Academy, he had compiled a long list of techniques that he would learn between the increments, as the children jeered and yapped as they often did.
The first was the Earth Clone Skill, which he imagined to be fairly similar in creation to the Bunshin technique, but with a genuine and solid body. Considering any spars with other Students would likely involve a lot of physical combat, he knew immediately that doling out hordes of Earth Clones would likely be key to any victory.
So, he clapped his palms together and created the technique, focusing on the rigidity of the clone, as well as the texture and material utilized for its creation. With his chakra, he had legitimately bound stone to that of a life-like entity, one that mirrored him in appearance. He touched it, and the surface felt like that of a smooth stone.
He utilized a similar concept around his arms, creating the same rigidity, and the results were both quick and exceptional.

The next technique that he read about was one he'd seen in action, through his father. One quickly dove into the ground and, essentially, burrowed at high speeds through rock and dirt. They would then arrive elsewhere in a stunning motion, one that could be followed by an attack or reprisal. This time, Shinsei stomped his feet against the ground, before immediately disappearing into the stone of the Academy floor, and arriving outside of the room of the class. He followed the same motion to return to his initial point, before restoring the schism upon the ground, with Swift Earth.
Tsuchi Gunjikoudou no Jutsu [ Earth Military Movement Technique ] Learned Tsuchi Tou Tou [ Swift Earth ] Learned
The last technique he was interested in learning, for now, was the Chameleon Skin jutsu, as described in the readings. Since he was mostly preparing his arsenal for amateur fights -- as he was unlikely to be assigned to a truly dangerous mission -- he decided to learn tricks and tactics capable of defeating foes with a limited perception, much like himself. The Chameleon Skin was a technique that melded him with his environment, essentially making him nigh-invisible to untrained eyes. He clapped his palms together and focused slivers of his chakra throughout the whole of his form, taking on an illusory guise that projected the color and appearance of the environment behind him onto his skin and attire.
For as long as the technique lasted, he would remain sightless and obscured to his fellow students, though quickly he dispelled his own genjutsu so as to not confuse or bewilder his surrounding shinobi.

"Chie-sensei," Shinsei called her, his fingers tangled together at his back, as his messy black hair covered bits of his vision in his left eye. "I believe we've done it. Guess I'm going to clean the Academy for extra credit."
The Academy was dirty. That meant it needed to be cleaned. That, and he really wanted extra credit, which was a direct consequence of making a clean Academy. Shinsei immediately found himself leaving the room, searching the halls for a bucket and a... sponge. Or something to that effect.
Chie had her own business to handle, and the other students were passively waiting for her. He didn't intend to disrespect the woman, but he also knew that one of the missions given to the students present was cleaning, and so clean he would. He had been advised before coming that the best way to expedite graduation was by performing copious amounts of Academy missions, and so, he would.
That began with the thick, soft sponge in his hands. And, of course, the bucket of water that was infused with something more generous than the great Fabuloso. A substance made for the heavens, with Shinsei its bearer. He would clean the Academy well, and that began with one room in particular -- one that seemed to have fallen out of use, that he noticed even whilst walking toward his room from the exterior of the building.
The pleasant grass outside was mired by it, and so too was the relatively sleek - if dusty - interior of the building. Of course, Shinsei planned to mend the issue at hand, with the classroom his final objective.
He scrubbed and pressed the brunt of the spongey object against the panels of the windows, and cleared the dust one particle at a time. Following that motion, he moved to the walls themselves, though they were an object with a pure vertical slope. Thus, they did not accrue nearly as much dust and grime, and only required single swipes of the sponge across each inch of their surface.
What followed from there was the desks, each individually. One desk had one notable issue. Most of them had gum or some other infantile object left underneath, a mark of the undisciplined nature of the young shinobi that came. Shinsei didn't particularly judge, however, as he was one of those children. Always immature, always mocking and scorning the teacher. His 'sensei' back then had admired him and treated him well, but he found any opportunity to mock him, and was mocked by said teacher in return.
It was a positive relationship.
But that teacher had died. He remembered that. It was, in fact, the reason he left the Academy . . . not just laziness, or a loss of motivation, but the loss of a dear friend who represented much of his desire to learn. To advance.
He knew none but that one man, standing tall before him, proudly observing as he learned each individual technique with vigor; with furor. He was a young and easily distracted thing, but he was the star in that man's sky. For a long time.
This was his classroom, fallen out of use. It was sad to see it this way. But from his mourning was equally a happiness, a reminiscent series of thoughts that recalled the white-haired man who died heroically for his village . . . through all of the conflict. He was the reason that as of yet, Shinsei had not left himself, though he often wanted to.
This village was a sad thing. There was so much sorrow and death, and martyrdom for ideals that he could no longer even recall. What did Uzushiogakure even stand for? His family was not from here originally, and they likely wouldn't die here. They'd come from Konoha, and only fled here for refuge in the land occupied by friends and kin. The Uzumaki had always meant something to his family, and so too did their village.
But not to him. None of them, none of this, had ever meant anything to the despondent child that was Shinsei. He only wanted a friend and a meaning, a future of his own, rather than a peerless and abstract view of the past. One that his family offered. An offer he had always rejected, their words in futility.
His sister had already gone, hadn't she? Every day, he remembered her. Falsa. The one who was always too perfect for him, always too wise and beautiful and exceptional -- unlike the shivering, wilted abomination that he had always been. But he loved her, and she him... and she didn't love this village, just like him. She had always wanted to extend far past the limitations of the mortal form. A village itself was a cage to her; constrained, binding her within.
Shinsei thought deeply on her as he cleaned, and performed menial tasks. He had honed his water chakra within his throat, and had taken to using Fish Spit as a way to expedite the cleaning, far faster than a bucket and sponge. Water Mirror was used within the cleaning to closely examine his surrounding surfaces, and view missed spots as he cleaned with his spits, before stepping forward to dry each surface with his mirror at his back, a reminder of any junctions of unclean surfaces.
Uo Tsuba [ Fish Spit ] Learned Mizu Kagami no Jutsu [ Water Mirror Technique ] Learned
Trick of water was equally useful, as Shinsei flicked dense and viscous jets of water onto surfaces, only to rapidly swipe and clean at them with his towel. Each stroke cleared more dust and grime, and placing the flicks of water on said surfaces reminded him of forgotten spots through all of his vigorous cleaning. He noted that he was an incredibly efficient cleaner, with Suiton involved.
Mizu no Waruasobi [ Trick of Water ] Learned
But learning jutsu wasn't really the purpose of his abrupt exit. Even cleaning wasn't why he'd gone, though the distraction was welcome. In truth, this was a break from the crowding of that room, and all the many shinobi. He felt awfully sorry for Chie, and her perpetual position as the nanny of so many wild and hopeful children. They all wanted their own deaths as weapons for a Kage, and even sometimes a Daimyo.
Martyrdom was every shinobi's Nindo. Why did they fight for such pointless glories? Why did he? There was no real reason for these wars to continue. It was soulless power-mongering by a select few elite. The involvement of their 'lessers' was through subversion, into a societal contract that had no bearing. None of the social dynamics they had built justified dying gruesomely for false ideals. Ones that were parroted only to distort and lie.
Shinsei was uncertain. And... conflicted. He did not know why he followed this path, the Village way -- as if it really meant anything at all. He could've accomplished equally great things no matter where he went, under the guidance of far more cynical and pragmatic beings.
He knew of the wanderers. Of the rogues. One had even just wandered into his classroom, under the ire of his instructor, who labeled his kind as selfish. Perhaps she was right. Shinsei didn't want to be a shinobi because it meant dying for nothing, when he had always imagined his life to be for a greater purpose. It was all about him, and what he wanted and expected. He had thought little of others.
This... was difficult. Though his hands vigorously chopped away at all of the dirt and grime before him, his mind was puzzled on so many levels, reflecting the complexity of the issue he'd peered into. To leave. Not to leave. It was an infinitely challenging duality and he wasn't certain what it meant. But the fact that he'd come here, to the Academy, with the intention to leave in the first place was... truly a reminder of Chie's words. Maybe he was selfish.
And maybe he was just rationalizing it all too much. Maybe his initial instinct was all that needed to be trusted, and anything and everything else was... village brainwashing. He'd spun this narrative over and over in his mind, even for longer than today; some time, in fact. Ever since his original sensei had died, and he'd let his duties and obligations fall to the wayside.
No one would want him here, anyway, when they saw his Mokuton. He looked and felt like an outsider to them, so messy. A shrike among red jays and blue birds. He was not meant for this life.
--or so he thought, again, only to parry and parley that assertion. This was so difficult, especially for one with an untrained, infantile mind, with no true motivation or ideology to speak of. The words and thoughts tired him.
The classroom had been expunged of all dirt and mire, restored to the state it was in so long ago, when he was naught but a friendly child. It was a beautiful thing to see - so much so that it nearly brought tears to his wallowing eyes, enchanted as he reminded himself of all the many things that he had lost. So many people, to the scourge of war. They all died for people like him . . . to selfishly consider deserting, for his own sake and his own life.
All of it hurt, so much. The small, streaming tears were for more than just his fallen comrade . . . but also for himself, and his own failures. So many, they were. He had to wipe his own face down some to recover, as he steeled his heart to what had to follow; graduation, hopefully. He would need to ask his sensei when he came back -- in truth, many of these techniques, he had touched upon before. He was ready to graduate back then, was he not?
Now, he was only reminding himself. But he didn't need to be this... student. He could wear the mark of the whirlpool upon his head, and perhaps he wouldn't even scratch it out. Those were all things to think upon, and no more rationalizations or ethical misgivings could truly make that decision for him.
He returned to the classroom, and cleaned it just as vigorously as he did the other, an action that soothed the confused mind he bore just as well as any other. He was still highly uncertain, but at least he had a concept in his head. Selfishness versus liberation. Risk versus long-life. He had to weigh these things heavily, before he made his decision . . . whenever that was. And if he left, perhaps he could do so amicably.
Maybe the village wouldn't hunt him down, and realize his fears far sooner, and more directly.
[Clean the Classroom Complete, 8 Times - 800 AC]
"Okay, looks good," he said to himself . . . and perhaps the others around him. "Could I have my graduation examination, Chie? I have no more concepts to realize at this stage. I want to move forward."

Chie Clones Two and Three smiled when the pair Emiko and Mayume finished their korabo technique. She looked at the shuriken and was impressed by the design. "Ten points to Konoha indeed!" She said in a cheerful voice. Of course she knew about the Secret Adventures of Harrito Potterame. Chie felt it a little funny that the villages she grew up in, as well as the villages most ninja knew, were now popularized and sensationalized as fictional articles. Still though, to say the word Konoha again brought a smile to her face. It reminded her of the time she had a true home to call her own. Now they had Uzushiogakure, but it would never be the same. Chie two and three snapped out of their daze as they realized that, in the midst of their daydreaming, Shinsei managed to clean the academy eight times over.
"I'm guessing you're done as well with Korabo." Chie two said as she looked at Yoshiro. The boy definitely seemed like he was ready for the next task. Kenta and Wren were still behind, but they would catch up soon enough. Chie two took a breath. "Alright. First of all, but sorry Shinsei. You have to follow the rules of the shinobi just like everyone else." She said. Chie three then proceeded to write on a separate section of the board that was not currently being used. She would have erased the board, but she wasn't sure if Wren still needed it. "Alright. So now that the majority of you have mastered the art of Korabo, which is the art of working with another ninja, it is time for you to learn very clearly about the person that you have been selected to work with." Chie three only wrote one word in all caps as the other clone spoke. "And the best way to learn about another is by becoming their rival!"
The word, "RIVALS" was capitalized and underlined. "Now that you have your partner, your next set of instructions are to go to the dojo and spar with your partner." Chie three now started to write new information on the board as Chie two continued speaking. "The goal of this exercise is to learn more about another even when the person you are dealing with is not forthcoming with the information. The art of studying one's opponent to exploit weakness is not unique to ninjas alone. However, it is imperative that, in the process of learning about your opponent, you also learn about yourself." Chie three wrote the following words on the board. Soft Physical, Hard Physical, Soft Mental, Hard Mental, Projectile Weapons, Small Weapons, Medium Weapons, Large Weapons, and Strange Weapons. Chie two continued speaking once all nine branches were written. "It is for this reason that, while you fight your opponent, you utilize the equipment at the dojo to train in the most basic utilization of each of these styles of combat. Once you have them learned you may end your fight with your opponent. This is not a match to win or lose. However, if I find out that either you or your opponent attacked to cause serious injury to one another, then let's just say that there won't be a single winner today."
Chie's two's tone went drastic as she spoke. She then realized that she still had her kids standing there. "What are you waiting for?! Go to the dojo and return when you're done." She shouted. She was ready for these kids to get better so that they would be ready for the third part of her exam.
Meanwhile, the real Chie snarled at the idea of Takumi's organization claiming sole credit for the destruction of the UHV. In the back of her mind, however, he could have it. Chie hated the fact that she was forced to kill during those times. It was very much against her nature to take another's life. It disturbed her that Takumi had no problem with it. What had happened to her brother? "I refuse to believe that you could help those who had lost their way. At least, not in the state you're in right now." She said bluntly. She leaned against a wall and folded her arms. "Like, do you hear yourself? You haven't seen me in how many years and the first thing you want is a way to strengthen your criminal organization?" She took a deep breath. "I know I haven't reached out to you either, and I'm sorry for that." She admitted. Her eyes then narrowed in on him. "But's been a really long five years. I have had to basically jump start the academy we are in right now. I had to use my knowledge of ninjutsu and photographic memory to basically backlog the majority of the techniques that we were not able to transport on scrolls. I have been doing everything I can to make not just myself, but the village in which I would give my life to the very best that I can. Do you really think the sacrifices I have made weigh the same on the divine scales as you murdering murderers?" She needed to hear Takumi say yes to know that this conversation had no hope of becoming better. If he had any humility in his next answer then perhaps Chie misread the amount of lost he appeared to be. Considering his previous response, however, she doubted that would be the case.

The Senju rolled his eyes. Follow the rules, like . . . everyone else. Right. The rules that didn't really ever get underlined, for him or probably - really - anyone else either. But that was fine. He supposed he'd rather be ready as a Genin instead of all the many fresh-out-of-the-Academy shinobi he'd seen wandering around with dismembered limbs, unprepared for the world that awaited them.
At least Chie was... principled. Though all of her banter and her clones made him feel disoriented - like the whole training experience was surreal. Again, he would be happy to go somewhere else, the Dojo or not. They would learn many things there, too, and would spar with one another. That was, supposedly, one of the final pre-requisites to their graduation. Hopefully, at least.
"Alright," he responded simply. He was not excited nor down -- just hoping to follow the path towards the rank seamlessly. And so, with even less bustle than when he'd first arrived, he gathered his bearings and left the Academy room immediately . . . before heading down the hallway to the forlorn classroom he'd only just cleaned. It was charming in here. The loneliness. The memories.
So many things. He opened his eyes and stared out through the window, peering into the quiet. He'd already begun to scribble copies of the scrolls and books available, hoping to reflect on them when he returned home, like pieces of notes for the long trek.
Standing here, in the quiet serenity of his thoughts, he took one enchanted breath as he inhaled the nostalgic air through his nostrils. It felt... so surreal to be here again. And to think, he would have many more experiences like this, following the path of a shinobi. He would meet so many more people that brought him such curious fulfillment, merely with their character and mannerisms.
And then, over time, they would fade. It was such a sorrowful thing. He had almost allowed himself to forget.

__ Kagami entered the academy where she last left Takumi. There was a degree of urgency in her steps. She peaked around several corners and opened multiple doors until she found where Chie and Takumi were talking. She waved at Chie and flashed her a friendly smile before approaching Takumi. She would whisper into Takumi's ear. "So Taylor decided to go and get himself beat up by some black haired guy with muscles at the dojo. Then he fell down and is probably going to go to the hospital." She reported her findings and had half a mind to just leave him behind. Her mood would truly sour if she were forced to stay in this village for another moment longer.

Takumi would raise an eyebrow as thought to say 'really' sarcastically when Chie snarled. He sighed, feigning defeat. " Perhaps. Perhaps you're right. " He stood, waking back to the door to the lounge, looking over his right shoulder. " Sayanora, sister. It was good seeing you. Maybe we can see eye to eye some day on this matter." Turning back, he would wave his hand and leave the original in the lounge.
As he reached the hall, Kagami would approach. " What did you learn?" He would ask as she informed him of the black haired fighter. " That is...unfortunate. Once I'm done here, I'll gather the boy. Go await us outside the village. " Once Kagami vanished he would continue out.
As he moved down the hallway, he would take note of an academy student with black hair who was moving outward. He seemed disillusioned...as though he had his mind elsewhere. He would use this as an opportunity. He would speak to the boy, seeking out some minute detail that would alure to an avenue of persuasion he could use to gain what he desired. He would avoid utilizing Genjutsu to manipulate the boy, for now. Perhaps he could make a new ally.

The door would gently slide open in the middle of the lesson as a rather tired and bedraggled woman stepped through. She had made a lazy attempt at tying back her hair, and her clothes could have benefited from a good ironing, or at least, a few minutes in a dryer. Deep bags sat under her eyes and her feet moved across the floor, dragging across the ground like some kind of undead creature. She looked up at the multitude of Chies, with a puzzled look on her face. She seemed to stare at the closest Chie for almost an entire minute before waving lazily at her. "Hi. I assume that I'm only about 10 years late to this whole Academy thing."
She leaned up against a desk, finally shifting her lazy eyes across the rest of the room. It certainly seemed like she had picked a busy time to show up. The group seemed to be leaving, and most of them were rather boring and dull to look at. But there was a person who caught her eye. It seemed she wasn't the only person who missed their first day at the Academy by a few years. And boy, was he a striking figure, at least in comparison to the rest of those in the room. The woman shot him a quick wink as he passed her to exit before returning her attention to the Chies. "Name's Sumiko Uz..uh..." The woman seemed to stop herself before starting again. "Sumiko Yukimura. I do hope I didn't miss some kind of important training. After all, everyone seems to be leaving."

A smile spread over Mayumeβs face when the teacher not only recognized the reference, but even went along with it. However, Konoha was a sensitive topic for Mayume, and her smile faltered. Thankfully Chie was lost in her daydream so Mayume didnβt have to explain herself. She was about to turn see if the last pair needed some help, when Shinsei felt the need to make his offhand remark. Little girls? Really? This kid sure talked big for a laggard. Especially since she was just joking, and not even to him! Mayume would have shot a glare in Shinseiβs direction, but she was better than that. Instead, she just shrugged and spoke in a neutral tone "Relax kid, itβs not about who has the bigger one. Everyone has their own strengths and weaknesses and weβre all here to learn and get better. Some people just need a little more time than others." Mayume was not here to make enemies, but that didn't mean she was going to let others walk over her like that. His skills seemed decent, but the korabo had been less smooth than theirs. The girl observed the Oni boy. He seemed the straight forward type, and she was curious how he and his partner would get along over time. Well, they were all in the same class, so theyβd probably all interact with each other at some point.
Then the dark-haired girl then turned her attention to the teacher, eager to see what was next. R-rivals?! Mayume did a double take when brain finally registered what had happened. It wasnβt so much what was expected of her, it was who. Mayume shot an uneasy glance at Emiko. To learn more about an opponent who doesnβt want to reveal information would be very helpful, actually, especially to reveal and subsequently exploit weakness. But, she did not want to hurt her friend.. She hesitated to ask for clarification, wondering if perhaps that was what they were supposed to figure out themselves. Chie barked out an order, and Mayume automatically sprang into action. "Yes maβam!" On her way to the door she noticed two things. One, Shinsei was already ahead of her, and two, another figure was about to enter. Mayume halted in front of her, taking in the rather frumpled looking.. student? If not for the indifferent vibe and unkempt appearance, Mayume would have mistaken her for a teacher. Regardless, Mayume offered her a friendly smile along with her introduction "Mayume Araki, nice to meet you!"
She then paused for a moment before grinning impishly into the room, challenging everyone inside. βIβll race you all to the Dojo, you included Sumiko. Whoever is last buys ice cream!β And with that, the girl spun on her heels and sped out of the classroom. She wasnβt exactly the competitive type, but seeing Shinsei leave like so quietly like that had made her wonder if he wasnβt just lonely. Something like this would give everyone an excuse to bond over something. On her way out of the dojo she noticed Shinei on one of the empty classrooms. Poking her head in she called out to him "Cβmon mopey, youβll never pass the exam if you keep standing around here." Without waiting for a response, she left for the Dojo.

Someone followed him. He was no great shinobi, nor a master of perception . . . but it was no difficult thing to notice when he was being pursued by another, particularly when one entered the same lonely classroom as he. The blonde-haired man stepped quietly into the room - wordlessly - without . . . anything in particular to say; just a peculiar, ominous pose of standing and observing.
Shinsei's brows lowered, and his eyes narrowed. A look of irritation, though it was only visible once he'd turned to view the other man.
"You're that rogue that was riling up Chie, aren't you?" he inquired. It was odd to see a rogue freely poking around in the Academy -- not even watched by another. He supposed, in a way, he was to be the observer of the other man. He only hoped that he would not be robbed of his life as a response to that risk.
"Why did you follow me?" he asked, bluntly. There was clearly a reason, and already in his mind was one in particular: recruitment, for something. A member. A spy. It didn't matter what he wanted -- he wanted to be served, somehow and in some way. That was how shinobi worked. They... created utilities, agents that swallowed the risk for them.
How did Shinsei become so cynical? Observation. A wallflower only knew how to observe and determine. He'd always been fit to be a spy, because it was so easy for him to understand what other people wanted.
Or so he thought. For now, he remained quiet. It was best not to place his cynicism forward -- the man could only then rebuke it. He would keep his thoughts quietly to himself, and allow the creature before him to weave his tale . . . whatever that was.

Koutetsu climbed up the slope leading to the academy. As he came into view of the entrance, He slipped the academy coat over his Gi. Picking up his pace, Koutetsu began jogging around the academy to get to the outdoor training grounds. Coming to a stop at the edge of the area, he put his hands behind his head as he panted. "Going to have to work on my conditioning," He sighed, before wiping the sweat off his forehead. Koutetsu walked into the training area, heading towards the training targets. Stopping about twenty paces away from one of the targets, he clasped his hands together in the snake hand seal. "Koton: Black Steel Manipulation!" Black liquid seemed to ooze out of his fingers and slowly hardened into a small bar of black steel held between the index and middle fingers of his right hand.
"Forge the weapon worth wielding." "Forge the weapon worth wielding."
