If you need help studying Japanese tell me. I know my hiragana and katakana. I also can read some Kanji and some Chinese characters as well.

Thanks! I have a friend that already speaks/writes it fluently who helps and the study is an official language course, but it never hurts to have an extra pair of eyes! Right now I just had to do a, o, i, e, u, ka, ki, ku, ko, ke, ga, go, ge, gi, gu

I still sometimes have trouble recognizing the right ones, but this was my first day on scripts. Before this it was dialogues and how to introduce etc. I finally finished Unit One now lol (of the 16) but the lapotop downstairs is uberslow and the printer kept printing the wrong way so lost hour easily just getting the sheets for the g-series and it got me quite irritated for a while >.<

I did notice that yes. the k-series and g-series are similar lose from that tenten. For now I will just let it rest and see how it goes tomorrow. As they say that when you sleep you process what you experienced at day. It might be clearer then too smile

One of the things that helped me to study my hiragana and katakana was to make them to into flash cards and then organize them into an alphabet when I study.

I heard about flash cards before, but have never used them, or been told to use them by any teacher, maybe it's an American thing? Even so I am willing to try to become as adequate as I can be in Japanese. Personally I would strife for about as good as my English (which isn't my native language either) but I know that is surrealistic...

I don't normally use them as well, but they did really help me with hira and kata.

So what is your first language then?

I will try it out. My native language is Dutch, I live in the Netherlands, born and raised.

I haven't gotten a chance to learn any Dutch yet, but it's on my list to study. I kind of want to be able to speak with as many different people as possible.

I may be able to speak to people in English speaking countries or in Europe, but I had people shy away from me when I was in Japan because they didn't feel comfortable.

To be fair though when it comes to European languages, I do know some Spanish and a could of words in every other language (Minus French since they share a lot in common with English).

I promise you I really do like language learn and could go all day on linguistics and language learning topics.

I just want to learn Japanese and then hope to find a job in translation with it as well. The other languages are fine too and I'll probably learn more but right now I really focus on learning Japanese, not any other language. After I learned Japanese I will look into more languages lol

That's a good job. It pays well too.

My dream job would allow me to travel a lot. My goal is to do a European Tour next.

I just love to learn languages, but Japanese has always been high on my list. Both cause I love the language, culture, people. As well as it would really open up a huge deal of jobs for me. Perhaps I'll even end up moving to Japan who knows. Life is full of surprises.

I know a lot of people who teach in English in Japan.

Japan is a pretty fun place.
